Per the sages, it is good just to say the Name of a Tzadik. Of course, the more one learns about each individual Tzadik strenghtens one's connection to that Tzadik and assists in the Channel of connection between you and he/she. As we develop more information about a particular Tzadik his or her name will appear as a Link. Otherwise it will just be listed below the date.
One spiritual ritual recommended by Rabbi Nachtman of Breslov is to say the Names of the Tzadikim starting with Adam and Chava and continuing until today. This list will be added as a link when it is available. In the meantime try doing this ritual with the Names of all the Tzadikim who passed in a Hebrew month.

The death of tzadikim is compared to the burning of the Beit HaMikdash. Perhaps that is why there is such an disproportionate number of tzadikim that chose to leave on this day of Rosh Chodesh Av, the month the first and second Beit HaMikdash were destroyed, starting with Ahron HaKohen, the "ohev Shalom v'rodef Shalom," which in turn is related to the churban.

Aaron HaKohen (1272 B.C.E which is 2488 - תפח in the Hebrew Calendar). Aaron, who lived during the exodus from Egypt, was the brother of Moses and Miriam. He was chosen to be the first priest of the newly emerging Jewish nation. Aaron was a person who was known for bringing peace between husbands and wives and between neighbors and friends. It pained Aaron to see broken relationships and he, on his own, would do his best to repair any relationship that was on the verge of breaking. When he explained to one side of the argument that the other side regretted the misunderstanding and the argument, it caused that person to want to continue the relationship. Peace is a very important foundation of society. Without peace between man and his neighbor, society could not exist. Without peace between nations, progress and individual welfare can not exist. Peace, whether between men or between Hashem and men, is of the paramount importance.
Elazar ben Aaron HaKohen
Rabbi Yaacov Ben Atar - יעקב בן עטר . He is a Sephardic Sage. He wrote the Sefer Beit Elkai Yaacov - בית אלקי יעקב .
Rabbi Shmuel Bar Rabbi David רבי שמואל בן רבי דוד He was known as the "Deer of Arnaflid." The year of his Hilula (1883 which is 5643 ־ תרמג in the Hebrew Calendar) has the essence of completion and a moving on like a graduate.
Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel ben Rabbi Elazar (died early 1700's). He was the Rav of Dubna after Rabbi Yosef Yoska, the Yesod Yosef.
Rabbi Noson Nota ben Rabbi Yosef of Averitch (1785 which is 5545 - תקמה in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a Talmid of the Baal Shem Tov and father-in-law of the Bas Ayin. He did not sleep on Shabbos because it says "V'shomru Bnei Yisroel es HaShabbos, "You should watch the Shabbos."
Rabbi Asher Wallerstein (1837 which is 5589 - תקפט in the Hebrew Calendar) was the son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib, the Shagas Aryeh.
Rabbi Ahron ben Rabbi Moshe Goldstein (1845 which is 5605 - תרה in the Hebrew Calendar) was the Rav of Breslov. He was one of the main students of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. Rabbi Nachman said that he used his ancestral merits to bring Rabbi Ahron to Breslov and that Rabbi Ahron went to his chuppah with a "clean garment." He and Rabbi Naftali were the two witnesses to Rabbi Nachman's famous promise to pull out of Gehinom anyone who gives tzedakah and says Tikun HaKalali by his kever. His son, Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh, succeded him and Rabbi Tzvi's son was Rabbi Nachman of Tcherin. The year of his Hilula has the energy of traveling or touring and exploring.
Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi David Tzvi Ehrenfeld (1883 which is 5643 - תרמג in the Hebrew Calendar). The Chasan Sofer, grandson of the Chasam Sofer. This year of Hilula includes the essence of completion and termination. It also has an aspect of decision as well.
Rabbi Ahron ben Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz (1903 which is 5663 - תרסג in the Hebrew Calendar).
Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Kobrin-Bialystok (1918 which is 5678 - תרעח in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yehudah Leib. He was a talmid muvhak of the Yesod Avodah of Slonim.
Rabbi Shlomo ben Rabbi Ben-Zion Halberstam of Bobov֑ (2000 which is 5760 - תשס in the Hebrew Calendar). His father, first wife and several children were murdered by the Nazis during the Shoah. He remarried after the war and rebuilt Bobov into one of the largest chassidish communities in the world. His only son to survive the war, Rabbi Naftal Tzvi, succeeded him and passed away in 2005 which is 5765 - תשסה in the Hebrew Calendar. There is a book, Nor the Moon by Night, about his experiences during the Holocaust. It was mentioned many times after his passing that it was no coincidence that his yahrzeit is the same as Ahron HaKohen's because he was the consummate "ohev Shalom v'rodef Shalom" and was loved by all.
Chezkel Solomo Chezkel is the man who through an act of Chesed (Mercy) and a Good Deed was the first person to provide a bench at a bus stop in New York. Here is a story of Chesed email written by Eli Sol who writes a daily email about Chesed. At the end of the day chesed is about other people. If a person is completely wrapped up in their own lives, there will be little room for contemplation of other people. Ahavas Chesed requires you to want to make other peoples' lives better. The Chofetz Chaim explains to us that the Abishter would like us to think of others. He is telling us, "Take care of my children and I will take care of you." There was once a man who was driving by his friend's house. He noticed a large crate on his front lawn. He called his friend, who was at work and asked what was in the crate. The friend explained that the crate contained his new lawn bench. When asked what he intended to do with the old one, the friend said that he planned to throw it out. The man immediately had his guys un-crate the bench, assemble it, and haul off the old bench. He then had the old bench placed in front of a bus stop in Boro park on 16th avenue so the elderly would have somewhere to sit as they waited for their bus to arrive. Today is the yarhtzeit of this man, Chezkel Solomon, for whom this email is written. There are hundreds and hundreds of people whose lives he affected through his acts of chesed. What's important to note is just that, he lived a selfless life and through that he was able to affect hundreds of people, and those acts planted chessed seeds that are still sprouting new fruit on a daily basis. Every time we do an act of chessed we think we know where that act begins and ends. Well, such is not the case. Our acts create a chessed chain whose beauty knows no bounds, and will last l'neitzach nitzochim. We can all create that beauty, we just have to change our focus. May he be a Meilitz Yoisher for all of his children and grandchild, his entire family, and all of us...kein yihee rotzoin (May it be God's will).

Rabbi Ahron Teumim HY"D (1690 which is 5450 - תן in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Moshe. He was the Rav of Kracow. While visiting another region, a Polish nobleman had him arrested for no reason, and placed on a horse to bring him to jail. On the way, he fell off many times and they put him right back on until he died from his wounds. This year of Hilula has the energy of a jackel and also the energy of giving or making.
Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Avraham Stern (1997 which is 5757 - תשנז in the Hebrew Calendar). He was known as the Debreciner Rav, author of Be'er Moshe. One of the greatest poskim of his generation.
Rabbi Yaacov Cohen Yonathan - רבי יעקב כהן יהונתן .He wrote the Sefer - Seed of The Peace. He is considered a Sefardic Sage.
Rabbi Shimshon ben Rabbi Pesach Ostropolier HY"D. He is a student of the ARI and respected by both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Rabbis for his explanation of the ARI commentary on Pesach and the 10 plagues in Egypt. There is a famous promise in his commentary on Pesach that anybody who reads this commentary even once per year even on Erev Pesach will be saved from any accident or strange death for the whole year. Rabbi Gedalia Ahron Rabinowitz of Monastrich HY"D (1919 which is 5679 - תרעט in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yehoshua. He was killed in a pogrom in Uman with 700 others.
Rabbi David Shapira (1934 which is 5694 - תרצד in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Pinchas Leib. The year of his Hilula has the energy of Shimmering and Twinkling.

RabbiTzvi Meir HaKohen Rabinowitz, Av Beis Din of Radomsk (1902 which is 5662 - תרסב in the Hebrew Calendar) His father was the Tiferes Shlomo, R' Shlomo HaKohen of Radomsk. The essence of this year of Hilula is to turn aside or deviate.
Rabbi Ephraim Taub of Kuzmir (1904 which is 5664 - תרסד in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yechezkel. The energy of the year of Hilula is that of a shield.
Rabbi Benzion Halberstam HY"D (1941 which is 5701 - תשא in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Shlomo, Bobover Rebbe, author of Kedushas Tzion, a commentary on the Torah. He was born in the year 1874 which is 5634 - תרלד in the Hebrew Calendar, in the location called Bikofsk. His father was the first Bobover Rebbe. He succeeded his father as the Bobover Rebbe at the age of 31. His son, Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam rebuilt the Bobover organization in the United States. The year of his Hilula is considered a year of elevation.
Rabbi Rafael of Morocco Raphael Ben Mordechai Ankawa, also spelled Ankavah or Encouau, (1848–1935) was the Chief Rabbi of Morocco and a noted commentator, talmudist, posek, and author. Born in Sale, Morocco in 1848, he was known to the Jews of North Africa as "Malach Raphael" or the Angel Raphael. In 1880, he became President of the Rabbinical Court or Beit Din in Sale and founded a yeshiva there. In 1918, he was appointed the first President of the High Rabbinical Court of Rabat, Morocco. He published numerous works on jurisprudence, including Karne Reem (Jerusalem 1910), Hadad Vetema (Jerusalem 1978), Paamone Zahav (Jerusalem 1912), and Paamon Ve-Rimon (Jerusalem 1967); some of them continue to be regarded as authoritative. His funeral, on August 2, 1935, was visited by over 50,000 followers. His grave became a place of Jewish pilgrimage. Rabbi Ankawa is survived by hundreds of descendants today, mostly in Israel, France, and the United States. Leading Halachic rabbis refer to his books as sources for contemporary Jewish legal works.
Rabbi Yitzchok ben Rabbi Shlomo Luria Ashkenazi, The Arizal (1572 which is 5332 - שלב in the Hebrew Calendar). The Chida said on him that the way he reached such a high level was that Eliyahu HaNavi purified him with ashes of a Parah Adumah. The Arizal is respected and accepted by all the great Rabbonim of the Ashkenazim (chassidim and non-chassidim), Sefardim and Teimanim. Besides Kabbalistic Seforim, the Arizal is very often quoted in halachic works, such as the Magen Avrohom, Be'er Heitiv and Mishna Berura. The energy of his Hilula indicates a phase or stage relationship to his teachings. He is the foremost Kabbalist of the last 500 years and was a Gilgul (reincarnated spark) of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.There is a famous story about his birth.Read it below.
The Arizal was born in Jerusalem to Rabbi Shelomo Luria who was a very pious individual. It is said that Eliyahu Hannabi zl"t (Elijah the prophet) used to reveal himself to him. His mother was also extemely pious. When the Ari z"l was born, Eliyahu Hannabi appeared to his father and instructed him not to perform the Milah (circumcision) till he sees him in the Synagogue. On the eighth day the father did not see Eliyahu HaNabi in the Synagogue and would not proceed. The congregation did not understand why there was a delay, but he would not be rushed. Eliyahu HaNabi deliberately delayed coming, in order to see if the father would follow his instructions. When he finally arrived he instructed the father to sit on the chair with the child in his hands. Eliyahu HaNabi sat on the father and took the baby into his own hands. No one, not even the Mohel could see Eliyahu HaNabi, except the father. When the Milah was completed, he returned he baby to the father and told him that a great light would shine forth from this child which would illuminate the whole world.
Rabbi Gedalyah Chiyun (1750 which is 5510 - תקי in the Hebrew Calendar), founder of Yeshiva Beis El which studied Kabbalah based on the Arizal. The essence of the year of his Hilula is to remove or sever things.
Rabbi Chaim of Krasna (1793 which is 5553 - תקנג in the Hebrew Calendar) He is a talmid of the Baal Shem Tov.
Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna (1940 which is 5700 - תש in the Hebrew Calendar) author of Achiezer. One of the Gedolei Hador of his time, he was very close with the Chofetz Chaim. He was a great tzadik and an absolute genius, with a reputation, for among other things, being able to write two separate things at a time using his right and left hand simultaneously.The year of his Hilula has an indication of weakness.
Rabbi Binyomin Paler (2000 which is 5760 - תשס in the Hebrew Calendar), He is a Talmid (student) of the Brisker Rav, and founder of Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud and Yeshiva Mekor Chaim.
Rabbi Yechiel Michel Dorfman (2006 which is 5766 - תשסו in the Hebrew Calendar) One of the leaders of Breslov, he married the granddaughter of Rabbi Avraham Sternhartz. He used to risk his life to take people to Reb Nachman's tzion (Kever-Grave) in Uman. He spent time in Russian prisons and Siberia, and was the guardian of Reb Nachman's Kever during the post World War 2 Communist regime. He was instrumental in building the new Koytz (Synagogue) in Uman. Until the end he had a rigorous schedule of Torah and Avodah.
Rabbi Yehoshua Greenwald He is considered one of the Av Beis Din of Chust.
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Hanau of Frankfurt-on-Main, author of Binyan Shlomo
Rabbi Pinchos of Sokolivka HY"D (1919 which is 5679 - תרעט in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Gedalia Ahron of Linitz. Rabbi Pinchos'l was both uncle and father–in–law to the Maonstrishter Rabbi Yehosua Heshil Rabinowitz. Along with other Jews, he was killed by the Ukranians during the Russian Revolution in a pogrom in the streets of Uman.
Rabbi Sholom Noach ben Rabbi Moshe Avraham Brezovsky (2000 which is 5760 - תשס in the Hebrew Calendar) He is known as the Slonimer Rebbe and author of Nesivos Sholom, one of the most popular Chassidishe Seforim of our time. He was a son-in-law of the previous Rebbe, the Birchas Avrohom.
Rabbi Moshe Greenwald of Chust He is the Av Beth Din of Chust. He is called the Arugas Habosem. The relationship to Rabbi Yehoshua Greenwald of Chust is unclear as of yet.

Reb Yaakov Yitzchok ben Reb Avraham Eliezer Halevi, the Chozeh (Seer) of Lublin
Reb Gavriel "Malach" ben Reb Dovid Horowitz of Moglenitza (1858 which is 5618 - תריח in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a talmid of the Ohev Yisroel of Apta, Magid of Koznitz and his son, Reb Moshe Elyakim Briah and Reb Chaim Meir of Moglenitza. He helped put together the writings of the Magid of Koznitz. The year of his Hilula has the energy of active scents.
Rabbi Yitzhak Nisim ben Rachamim, Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel (Rishon Letzion) from 1955 to 1972. He was the Rebbe of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu.
Rabbi Don Yitzchok Abarbanel (Abravenal) (1508). As well as being a loyal and strictly religious Jew, he was a great scholar, Bible commentator and philosopher, and he played an important part in European history. He was the last of the long line of great Jewish leaders and heroes of the Spanish Golden Age. Isaac was born into a wealthy and learned family in Portugal. His father Judah was state treasurer of Portugal, and a great favorite of Alfonso V, king of Portugal. Isaac received a thorough Jewish education, and took a keen interest in languages and philosophy. Later he succeeded his father in the service of the king.
In spite of his fame and wealth, Isaac never forgot his humble brethren, and used his vast wealth to support the needy. Thus, when Alfonso captured the town of Arzilla in Morocco, and there were two hundred and fifty Jews among the prisoners. Isaac Abravanel appointed twelve representatives to gather funds to redeem them, and he himself was the greatest donor. When the captives were redeemed, he supported them from his own means for about two years, until they learned the language and could earn their own livelihood. Abravanel also used his great influence to better the position of his brethren in other lands.
When Alfonso V died and Don Joao II succeeded to the throne of Portugal, Abravanel's fortune changed. In the year 5243, Don Joao II began a policy that aimed at getting rid of the nobility, and particularly the ministers of state that served his father. Abravanel learned just in time that the king had beheaded several of the highest ranking officers, and that he was slated to share a similar fate. He was on the way to answer the king's call, when on learning what awaited him, Abravanel fled to Toledo in Spain, where his family had once lived. Accompanied by his wife and two children, Abravanel arrived in Toledo almost penniless, as the ungrateful Don Joao had confiscated all his wealth.
Abravanel quietly obtained a position with a Jewish banking firm, and was glad to have time to pursue his studies and literary work. He continued his commentaries on the Bible which he had been forced to interrupt because of the pressure of state affairs. He wrote his commentaries on Joshua, Judges and Samuel, but when he began his commentaries on the book of Kings, his scholarship was again interrupted, when Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain summoned him to take over the state treasury, because they knew that they could find no greater financial genius. In the very same year when the notorious Torquemada became head of the Inquisition in Spain, Abarvanel officially became treasurer to the king and queen, two years before the expulsion of the Jews from Spain.
When that terrible decree of the expulsion of all Jews from Spain except those who would give up their faith, became known, Abravanel tried hard to avert the catastrophe. He begged of the king and queen to reconsider their cruel decree, and he offered a huge sum to the king's treasury. The king and queen turned a deaf ear to all his personal pleas and declined his gifts of money.
On the 9th of Av, 5252 (July 30, 1492), Abravanel and his family were on the march with the rest of their co-religionists. The unfortunate refugees finally reached Naples in Italy. When Ferdinand learned that the Jews found a haven in Naples, he urged the king of Naples (also called Ferdinand) to not permit the refugees to remain in his land. The young king of Naples, however, ignored the protest and demands of the cruel rulers of Spain. Moreover, he invited Abravanel to the royal house and appointed him as his adviser. Abravanel served both him and his son Alfonso II who succeeded to the throne in 1494. Unfortunately Naples was captured by King Charles of France in the following year, and King Alfonso II fled to Sicily. Abravanel accompanied His Majesty in exile, and continued to serve him with a fatherly devotion, until the exiled king died. Then Abravanel left for the island of Corfu in the Mediterranean.
Having lost all his wealth to the French conquerors, Abravanel once more suffered poverty and hardship. He moved to Monopoli, a town in the Kingdom of Naples, and 8 years later finally settled in Venice. Here it was not long before the rulers of Venice invited him to the council of state, and Abravanel became one of the leading statesmen of the Venetian Republic. Here in Venice, Abravanel died in the year 5269, at the age of 71, deeply mourned by the Jewish and non-Jewish citizens of Venice. The leading rulers of Venice attended his funeral, and he was laid to rest in Padua.
Rabbi Hillel ben Rabbi Meir HaLevi Malisov, best known as Reb Hillel Paritcher (1864 which is 5624 - תרכד in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a talmid of the Bas Ayin, Chenobyler Magid, Miteler Rebbe and Tzemach Tzedek. He was one of the greatest tzadikim in Chabad at the time and was like a Rebbe in his own right. He authored Pelach Harimon, Imrei Noam, Likutei Biurim and Maamar Hishtatchus.
Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer of St. Petersburg (1907 which is 5667 תרסז in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a talmid of Rabbi Yisroel Salanter. He wrote Ohr Yisroel, based on his Rebbe's letters and Rabbi Salanter's Sefer Pri Yitzchok.
Rabbi Aryeh Leib Katzenelbogen (1837 which is 5597 - תקצז in the Hebrew Calendar).He is known as the Rav of Vilna.
Rabbi Moshe Ber ben Rabbi Ahron of Stolin (1847 which is 5607 - תרז in the Hebrew Calendar). He is a grandson of Rabbi Shlomo of Karlin.
Rabbi Ephraim Zalman ben Rabbi Menachem Manish Margolies(1886 which is 5646 - תרמו in the Hebrew Calendar) He is the son-in-law of the Trisker Magid. The year of his Hilula relates to throwing an election or deception.

Rabbi Yisroel Shmuel ben Rabbi Aryeh Leibush of Tamoshov (1869 which is 5629 - תרכט in the Hebrew Calendar). He is grandson of Rabbi Yosef of Chelm, whose Hilula is also 13th of Av.
Rabbi Yaakov Yosef ben Rabbi Moshe of Orzetchov
Rabbi Eliyahu Maaravi (1955 which is 5715 - תשטו in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a great leader of Mekubalim in Yerushalayim. The year of his Hilula has the energy of being ridiculed or to go astray as well.
Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin (1973 which is 5733 - תשלג in the Hebrew Calendar), He is a posek and head of Ezras Torah. He is buried on Long Island in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, NY.

A story is told that Nachum Ish Gumzu was blind in both eyes, missing both legs, missing both hands and his entire body was covered in boils. He was lying in a dilapidated house with the legs of his bed in buckets of water so that ants could not crawl onto him. Once his disciples wanted to remove his bed from the house and then remove the furniture. Nachum Ish Gamzu said to them, "My children, first remove the furniture then remove my bed because you may be assured that as long as I am in this house it won't collapse." They listened to him and removed the furniture then the bed and the house collapsed after Nachum Ish Gamzu was outside it.
His disciples asked of him, Teacher since you are completely righteous why did this happen to you (the boils, no arms etc...)
He replied, my children I brought it upon myself. I was once traveling on a road to the house of my father-in-law and I had 3 donkey-loads of food items, one of food, one of drink, and the last one of delicacies. A poor man approached me and said, "Teacher, sustain me." I replied wait until I unload some food from the donkey. Before I had a chance to unload the donkey the man's soul departed. I went and fell on my face and said, let the eyes that took no pity on your eyes become blind; let my hands which took no pity on your hands be cut off; let my legs which took no pity on your legs be cut off. And my mind did not find rest until I said, "Let my entire body be covered with boils!" Nachum Ish Gamzu said to his students, "Woe to me had you not seen me like this."
The Gemara (A component of the Talmud) then goes on to ask why they called him Nachum Ish Gumzu? It answers because whatever would happen to him he would reply, "Gum zu letova."
Here is another story about Nachum Ish Gamzu:
Once the Jews wanted to send a gift to the court of Caesar. They decided to send Nachum Ish Gamzu to deliver it because he is accustomed to have miracles performed on his behalf. They sent him with a chest filled with precious stones and pearls. On his way he spent a night in a certain residence. During the night the residents arose and took all the stones and pearls from the chest and replaced it with sand. The next morning he saw the dirt and said, "This too is for the good," and went on his way to Caesar. He went to the palace and untied the chest. After the emperor saw the dirt he wanted to kill the Jews as he thought they were making fun of him. Nachum Ish Gamzu thought this too was for the good. Then Eliyahu HaNavi (Elijah the prophet) appeared as a Roman official. Eliyahu said to Caesar, "Perhaps this sand is from the sand of Abraham" (which was used in the battle of the four kings). When Abraham would throw the sand at an enemy it turned into swords and when he threw straw it turned into arrows. There was one city the Romans couldn't conquer. They tested some of this dirt against that city and they conquered it. After this they went to the emperor's treasure vault and filled the chest of Nachum Ish Gamzu with precious stones and pearls in gratitude for his gift and off he went.
When they returned and spent a night at the same residence as before (where he had been robbed) the residents asked what did you bring to Caesar that he gave you such honor? Nachum said whatever he took from there (the residence).
The residents immediately demolished their houses and brought the rubble to the palace. They said to Caesar, "The dirt that Nachum brought was from our residence." They tested it in battle and found it contained no special powers and they executed the residents for attempting to defraud them.
Rabbi Shimon Libya of Tripoli (1585 which is 5345 - שמה in the Hebrew Calendar). He is the author of Kesem Paz on Zohar and composer of the famous song "Bar Yochai." The energy of this year of Hilula has the essence of Moshe and Healing. This is due to the letters of the year are the letters of both Moshe Rabenu and one of the 72 names of HaShem from the Zohar's explanation of Exodus Chapter 14 Verses 19, 20, and 21. Also, realize that the year has the same letters as the Name HaShem.

Rabbi Meir Noson ben Rabbi Chaim (Divrei Chaim) Halberstam (1855 which is 5615 - תרטו in the Hebrew Calendar). He was the father of the first Bobover Rebbe.
Rabbi David Yosef ben Rabbi Shlomo Yechiel Biderman of Lelov (1897 which is 5657 in the Hebrew Calendar). He was from the members of the Lelover family that didn't move to Eretz Yisroel. He was Rebbe in Lelov, Poland.
Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Halberstam of Rudnik (1918 which is 5678 - תרעח in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz, grandson of the Divrei Chaim.
Rabbi Moshe Perdo He is the author of the Sefer Tzedek UMishpat. He is a Sefardic Sage. His year of Hilula is 5648 which is 1888 in the Gregorian Calendar. The year of his Hilula has the energy of hardness and scorching.
Rabbi Bechor Aaron Alachadeef.He is a Sefardic Sage from Tiberias. His Hilula is the year 5669 which is 1909 in the Gregorian Calendar.
Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Perlow of Koidenov (1862 which is 5622 - תרכב in the Hebrew Calendar). He is the son of Rabbi Ahron, the son of Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe of Lechovitch. They were direct (ben acher ben) descendants of the Levush. He was raised by his maternal grandfather, Rabbi Asher Perlow of Karlin, after his father died, and therefore he is also known by the last name of Perlow. After his uncle, Rabbi Noach of Lechovitch, died, all the chassidim flocked to Rabbi Shlomo. He had several sons that became great Rebbes in their own right. The year of his Hilula has the energy of both sailing and riding.
Rabbi Shlomo Chanoch HaKohen of Radomsk HY"D ben R' Yechezkel. A great-grandson of the Tiferet Shlomo who was murdered in Warsaw in 1942. 1942 is the year 5702 in the Hebrew Calendar. The year of his Hilula has the energy of waiting or sitting.

Rabbi Naftali ben Rabbi Yehudah of Nemerov (1860 which is the year 5620 - תרך in the Hebrew Calendar) He is one of the closest talmidim of Reb Nachman of Breslov and one of the two witnesses to the promise about reciting Tikun HaKlali at Rabbi Nachman's kever. Rabbi Eliezer of Uzipoli (1865 which is 5625 - תרכה in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yehuda Tzvi of Stretin. His Hilula reveals the energy of "becoming soft or tender".
Rabbi Levi Yitzchok ben Rabbi Boruch Schneur Schneerson (1944 CE which is 5704 - תשד in the Hebrew Calendar). Born to the oldest of the seven sons of the third Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel (the Tzemach Tzedek), Yitzchok was considered one of the greatest Talmudic and Kabbalistic scholars of his generation. He is the father of the last Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel. The year for the Hilula is considered devastating.
An Orthodox Rabbi, he served as the chief rabbi of the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, during the bloody Bolshevik revolution and the subsequent Communist oppression. For his stance against Soviet efforts to uproot Jewish learning and practice, he was eventually arrested, tortured and banished to a remote village in Kazakhstan. His spirit, however, was not extinguished, even while his body was broken and eventually gave way to his early passing.
Soviet Jewry, however, is not alone in the debt of gratitude it owes to Rabbi Levi Yitzchak. His personal example serves as a shining beacon of inspiration for all of us today, and for all generations to come. We are also collectively indebted to Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and his life’s partner, Rebbetzin Chana, for giving us their son the Rebbe, whose application of their teachings and way of life to all the rest of us changed the very course of world Jewry.
Rabbi Chaim ben Rabbi Yosef Dov Ber Soloveitchik,, Rosh Yeshiva of Volozhin and Rav of Brisk (1918 which is 5678 - תרעח in the Hebrew Calendar).
Rabbi Ahron ben Rabbi Yisachor Dov Rokeach, the Belzer Rebbe (1957 which is 5717 - תשיז in the Hebrew Calendar).One of the greatest tzadikim of his time. The numerous stories of his tzidkut (Righteousness) and miracles are legendary. Many of the great tzadikim in Eretz Yisroel, from all segments, were very close to him. He lost his whole family to the Nazis during the second world war. The fascinating story of his escape can be read in "Rescuing the Rebbe of Belz" published by Artscroll.
Rabbi Alexander Sender of Komarna (1818 which is 5578 - תקעח in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yitzchok. His father Issac was a talmid of the Chozeh of Lublin.
Rabbi David Hager of Zebultov (1848 which is 5608 - תרח in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kosov. He is a son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sasov. He wrote Tzemach David.
Rabbi Mordechai ben Rabbi Hillel, the "Mordechai"HY"D (1298 which is 5058 - הנח in the Hebrew Calendar). He was a 13th-century German rabbi and posek. Little is known of the Mordechai's early life, except that he belonged to one of the most prominent families of scholars in Germany: his grandfather Hillel, on his mother's side was a grandson of Eliezer ben Joel ha-Levi, who was in turn a grandson of Eliezer ben Nathan. About 1291 the family moved to Goslar, but his right of residence there was disputed by Moses Tako, the local rabbi. Although the suit was decided in Mordechai's favor, it was conducted with such bitterness that he left Goslar and settled at Nuremberg. For the next seven years, he operated a Yeshiva there which attracted students from all over Europe. His chief work is a legal commentary on the Talmud, referred to as The Mordechai, and is one of the sources of the Shulchan. The Ashkenazi authorities, as well as those in Italy, were great admirers of Mordechai, and assiduously studied the Mordechai and recognized its authority as a source of Halakha. The Mordechai was murdered, along with his wife and children, in the Rintfleisch Massacres in the year 1298. The year of his Hilula has the energy of comfort and also the possibility of Chocmat Nistar (Concealed Wisdom).
Rabbi Meir Hagadol of Premishlan (1773 which is 5533 - תקלג in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Yaakov "Tam." He is one of the great talmidim of the Baal Shem Tov. The Nadvorna dynasty with it's many offshoots descend from him. His grandson was the famous Rabbi Meir'l of Premishlan.
Rabbi Eliyahu Dushnitzer (1949 which is 5709 - תשט in the Hebrew Calendar). He was mashgiach of Lomza Yeshiva, Petach Tikva. The Chazon Ish is reported to have said that he was one of the 36 "hidden tzadikim". He was a talmid of the Chofetz Chaim and one of the ones chosen to get the dibbuk out of a woman, in the well known story told over by Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman.
Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel ben Rabbi Chaim Peretz Kanievsky, the Steipler Gaon (1985 which is 5745 - תשמה in the Hebrew Calendar). He is the author of the Sefer Kehillas Yaakov. His father was a chasid of Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel of Cherkass, and named him after his Rebbe. The Steipler's son, Rabbi Chaim Shlita, is one of the Gedolei Hador (Righteous of the Generation) today.
Rabbi Moshe Adas. He is considered a sefardic Sage. He is from Jerusalem and is the author of "Porat Yoseph." His year of Hilula is 5729 which is 1969 in the Gregorian Calendar.
Rabbi Ephraim Zalman ben Rabbi Menachem Margolies (1828 which is 5588 - תקפח in the Hebrew Calendar). He is the Av Beis Din of Brod and author of many sefarim, including Beit Ephraim, Olelos Ephraim and Mateh Ephraim, which is perhaps the most famous. It contains all the halachot pertaining to Elul and Tishrei. The essence of the year of his Hilula is deprivation and striking and beating.
Rabbi Itzhak Kovos HaSheni (Second). His year of Hilula is 5614 - תריד in the Hebrew Calendar, which is 1854 in the Gregorian Calendar. He is a Sefardic Sage. The year of his Hilula has the energy of building animal pens or being a tenant.
Rabbi Yeshayahu Menachem ben Rabbi Yitzchok of Cracow (1599 which is 5359 - שנט in the Hebrew Calendar ). He is the originator of the Heter Iska. The agreement that allows one Jew to charge interest to another Jew. The energy of this year of Hilula has the enssence of gathering and trembling.
Rabbi Yaakov Meshulam Orenstein (1839 which is 5599 - תקצט in the Hebrew Calendar), Rav of Lvov and author of Yeshuos Yaakov.
Rabbi Yehuda Fatiyah (1942 which is 5702 - תשב in the Hebrew Calendar). He is a talmid of the Ben Ish Chai. He wrote the Sefer Minhat Yehudah in which he relates a story about Gilgulim (Reincarnation) which includes the soul of Shabatai Tzvi.
Rabbi Yoel ben Rabbi Chananya Yom-Tov Teitelbaum (1979 which is 5739 - תשלט in the Hebrew Calendar), the Satmar Rebbe, author of VaYoel Moshe and Divrei Yoel, he is buried in Kiryas Joel (Monroe), NY.
Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi (1954 which is 5714 - תשיד in the Hebrew Calendar) Rav of Shanghai
Rabbi Eliyahu Baruch Goldschmidt, Mashgiach Ruchni Yeshiva Gedolah Zichron Moshe of South Fallsburg (2000 which is 5760 - תשס in the Hebrew Calendar).
Rabbi Yehoshua Charif of Cracow, He is the author of the Sefer Maginei Shlomo (1648 which is 5408 - תח in the Hebrew Calendar). His year of Hilula is the year of the Chelminitzki Massacrers 20th of Sivan
Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehudah Berlin (1893 which is 5653 - תרנג in the Hebrew Calendar). The Nitziv, Rosh Yeshiva of Volozhin, he married the grandaughter of Reb Chaim Volozhiner, author of Ha'emek davar, Ha'emek She'ela and Meshiv Davar. Rabbi Naftali, better known as the Netziv, was a foremost luminary of his time. He headed the Yeshivah of Volozhin and authored many works, including Ha’amek Davar on the Torah, Meromei Sadeh on the Talmud and Ha’amek Sh’eilah on She’iltos D’Rav Achai Gaon. Upon completion of Ha’amek Sh’eilah, the Netziv hosted a seudas mitzvah (festive meal in honor of a mitzvah) and related the following:
Once, when I was young, I overheard my father crying. I listened from another room and realized that my father and mother were discussing me! With pain in his voice, my father said: “I am at a loss as to what to do. I’ve tried every possible way to inspire our son to learn well — I’ve offered him all sorts of prizes, but nothing seems to work. It seems that our fervent hope, that he should become a talmid chacham is not to be realized. I guess we’ll have to train him to be some sort of laborer.”
I was shaken by my father’s pain and tears. I rushed into the room and promised my parents that from then on, I would devote myself to the study of Torah. I translated my words into action and became exceedingly diligent in my learning. With HaShem’s help, I acquired sufficient knowledge to even author some sefarim, including the Ha’amek Sh’eilah which I have now merited to complete.
Imagine for a moment where I might be today had I not heard my father’s anguished words. I would have grown up to be a tailor, a shoemaker, or a carpenter. Coming from such a family, I would have been honest in business and each night after a day’s work, I would have sat down to learn some Mishnayos, Chumash or Ein Yaakov [the Aggadic passages of the Talmud]. I would have lived with the feeling that I had followed the proper path all my life and that I had a reward to anticipate in the World to Come.
But after my time on this world would have ended, I would have come before the Heavenly Court and they would have asked me, “But where is the Ha’amek Sh’eilah?” I would have been shocked by the question — after all, how could I, a common laborer, produce such a work? But they would have been right, for indeed, I did have the potential to write it.
Therefore, this seudah is a twofold celebration: to celebrate the completion of this work and to express my gratitude to HaShem that He led me on the path that would bring out my potential, which might have lain dormant forever.

Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi Yosef Zundel Salanter (1909 which is 5669 - תרסט in the Hebrew Calendar). He is called Rav of Yerushalayim.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Alter HY"D (1942 which is 5702 - תשב in the Hebrew Calendar). He went to his death in Treblinka with "yishuv hadaas, tzidkus and prishus". He was a son of the Sfas Emes, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib. The year of his Hilula has the energyof waiting or sitting.
Rabbi Eliezer Zusia ben Rabbi Yisroel Avraham Portugal (1982 which is 5742 - תשמב in the Hebrew Calendar). He is called the Skulener Rebbe. He was a talmid of the Stefanishter Rebbe. After moving to the USA he founded the Chesed L'Avraham orginization. He is buried in the Vizhnitzer Cemetery in Monsey, NY. His son, Rabbi Yisroel Avrohom, the present Skulener Rebbe, is one of the most respected tzadikim around today.
Rabbi David HaNagid (1300 which is 5060 - ס in the Hebrew Calendar) ben Rabbi Avraham ben Rambam.
Rabbi Chanoch Henoch Dov of Alesk ben Rabbi Shmuel (1884 which is 5644 - תרמד in the Hebrew Calendar), He was known as the Lev Sameach (Happy Heart). He was a son-in-law of the Sar Sholom of Belz in his first marriage. In his second marriage he was a son-in-law of Rabbi Meir ben Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev.
