The month of Tevet טבת as explained by Kabbalah

The first suggestion we make is to read what we said last year about the month of Tevet. What will be said this year will build on what we said last year.

Below is the link to last years Blog about Tevet. Please press your back button to return to this location after you read last year's blog.

Letters for control of the month of Tevet טבת are the Ayin ע and the Bet ב. See below for these letters and also the combination of the Tetragramaton that assists you to take and keep control of the Astrological influences for the month.

היהו ע ב

An important aspect of this month is the relationship of the letters Ayin and Bet. The Gematria of the Ayin is 70. The gematria of the Bet is 2. Together the total is 72. This connects to the 72 Names of God. The purpose of these 72 triads (3 letter Names) is CONTROL OF THE PHYSICAL WORLD.

By reading the letters as words Ayin Bet translates as "a house for an Eye". In Kabbalah Eye is considered the level of consciousness dealing with Chochmah or wisdom. This is the potential available during the month of Tevet. It is only available to us when we bring our own protection shield instead of depending on the protective shield of the universe.

How does Kabbalah define Control?

Control means to be in a state of joy and happiness no matter what happens in the physical world. This is the lowest level of control. An example of this is when the doctor says to you (Chas VeShalom) 'You have Cancer" and your reaction is to start to laugh and thank the doctor for the good news.

A higher level of control is to change your life in a normal natural way, not using what is called a miracle or supernatural means. Change your home. Change your job. An example of this type of control is when you loose your job and your response is Thank You, i know that the universe wants me to have a better job. A job that pays more for less hours. And then you go out and find that perfect job for yourself.

An even higher level of control is to visualize the changes that you want to make in your life and then manifest these changes NOW. An example of this level of control is when you want to find your marriage partner. You visualize what she/he looks like and what character traits she/he will have and then you meet her/he the same day.

The 72 Names of God (in both aspects - The 72 Names of God and the 72 Names from the Tzadikim) are useful in learning how to control your world at what ever level you want to be.

TEVET is an important month to utilize these tools. Each month on Rosh Chodesh we have the opportunity to take control of that month. This means we can enhance the positive aspects and minimize the negative aspects. This year Rosh Chodesh Tevet starts the evening of December 25th and ends the evening of December 27th.It is especially important to utilize this mechanism for control of the month of Tevet on Rosh Chodesh because Tevet is one of the 3 most negative months of the year.

Most people find Tevet a difficult month. There are lots of illness, colds, and minor chaos (Chas V'Shalom). There are also major stress items that come to people during Tevet. This is because the Shechinah - the protection shield is not operational during Tevet. As indicated above we must use our own protective shield - the tool of Binding by Striking. If you want to know more about this tool listen to the recordings for class number 5 and six of the Basic Class Series. They are all about Binding by Striking

Another tool for control is to use the Name of Hashem that is permutated especially for this month of Tevet. By meditating on this name during the days of Rosh Chodesh one will manifest a greater amount of control over the negative aspects of Tevet. This will also assist you to enhance the positive aspects of Tevet.

The Tetragramaton is normally spelled יהוה. The Yood is in the first position. The first position is normally considered the World of Atzilut (Emanation). The second position normally has a Hay and is considered the world of Brea (Creation). The third position normally has a Vav and is considered the World of Yetzirah (Formation). The fourth position normally has a Hay and is considered the world of Assiya (Action or Manifestation).

In the world of Atzilut there is a Hay instead of the normal Yood. This Hay indicates an expansion in the area of spirituality. The Yood in the World of Beriah, at the level of mind and intellect indicates support for new ideas. This means you will receive new ideas but it is not the best time to manifest those ideas. The world of Yetzirah is the level of heart and emotions. These emotions tend to be expansive during Tevet. This means they will be stronger and more intense. ANGER that most negative emotion will be difficult to control and can lead to truly self destructive behaviors (Chas V'Shalom). The Vav in the world of Assiya, the world of action indicates that Tevet is a good month to direct our actions toward body awareness and body fulfillment. Therefore, it is a good month to start the exercise programs and all of those secular resolutions we have made to go on diets and to start exercise programs dealing with our body improvement.

The positive aspects of Tevet is expressed through its second level Gematria (or spelled out gematria) of the letters Ayin Bet. The Ayin when spelled out has a gematria of 130; The Bet when spelled out has a gematria of 408. The total of this gematria is 538. Here is the way the letters are spelled to arrive at this gematria עין בית

The gematria of 538 connects to one specific verse from the Tanach. This is the only verse in the Tanach that has a gematria value of 538. It is the middle verse of the Priests Blessing located at Numbers Chapter 6 Verse 25 . Here is the verse in Hebrew:

יאר יהוה פניו אליך ויחנך

The LORD make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee;

This appears to be a very positive idea. And it is a very positive idea. God is being described as Face to Face with us (A Kabbalistic metaphor for the full exchange of energy). While face to face, just like the Full moon, the Sun or the Sephirot of Tepheret is sharing all of its energy directly to us. The word gracious comes from the concept of Grace which in Hebrew is Chochmah Nestar (Hidden Wisdom). Therefore this verse is expressing God sharing all of his Hidden Wisdom with us directly. I know this sounds and appears to be very Good. Yet in Kabbalah, we know that the vessel needs to be of sufficient size to handle this amount of energy otherwise the vessel breaks (Chas V Shalom - God Forbid). Is your vessel ready to handle all of this Hidden Wisdom and metaphysical energy? That is why we need to exercise a greater amount of Binding by Striking during the month of Tevet.

The negative aspect of the month of Tevet is expressed through its gematria of the month itself. Tevet טבת has a gematria of 411. 411 is also the gematria of the infamous word Tohu תהו which translates as "without form" or desolation. Desolation is an indication of the potential breaking of the vessel as expressed above. The cure is to use a greater amount of Binding by STriking which actually brings all of the light into the vessel in a balanced way so that the vessel can become a channel or pipe and not break but allow the energy to flow through it. Of course these are all Kabbalistic Metaphors.

As said above but it always needs repeating, ultimately, this is a month to exercise a great amount of Binding by Striking or restriction.

The good news is that Hashem has given you the boost of a connection to the Holiday of Chanuka on Rosh Chodesh. This energy assists your meditation and your ability to take control of Tevet.

We also have the energy day of the 10th of Tevet which is a universal fast day (sunrise to sunset). This year that will be on Thursday January 5, 2012. In addition we have the period of Sovavim starting on Sunday 13th of Tevet which is January 8 2012.

Sovivim is a six week period that is a good time to do Teshuvah on subjects related to sexuality and creativity. An example is when you made an investment that lost your money. You can do teshuvah and have it returned to you. Of course that is a physical level of creativity and the better approaches are spiritual in nature. If you need help in deciding what to do teshuvah upon write me at yeshshem@hotmail.com.

Here are the connection to the Tribe for the month and the Leader of that Tribe from our website, with information about the Nasi and the attributes dealing with this month.

The Tribe for the month of Tevet is the Tribe of Dan.

  • Nissan Day 10 - Tribe of Dan.
  • I suggest you spend some time during this month checking out the attributes of the name Dan and the Name of the Nasi who gave the dedication and his consciousness of why he gave what he gave. Remember not all of these attributes are positive and with the tool of "Binding by Striking" we can correct them and transform them into positive aspects.

Here are strategies to adopt for this month of Tevet that will help keep you in balance.

The influence of Capricorn on all of us during the month of Tevet

The correction/influence of Capricorn is to see everything separated. It is very difficult for the Capricorn person to realize that they are being influenced by the spiritual aspects of their life. In this sense spiritual means to be unified while the influence on Capricorn people and on all of us is to see the illusion, everything as separated. This influence is also true for everyone during the month of Capricorn and the illusion of seperation is especially strong during Capricorn.

The solution is to strive to remember that Hashem is the cause for everything that is happening during this month. If it is painful or difficult it is a wake up call. The wake up call is a gift from Hashem given to us as a warning. Wake Up you have done something wrong spiritually and there is chaos coming your way as the effect of that mistake. Wake up and do Teshuvah. If it is pleasurable we must be grateful and thank Hashem constantly. We need to thank Hashem even for wake up calls. This action will give you control over the month of Capricorn. To gain control we must give up control and realize that Hashem is in control. This is the paradox of Capricorn.

    1. Be Mindful of your Speech

Especially when you are angry. The Zohar says that when one gets angry, the Neshamah leaves and is replaced by a Neshamah from the other side. This means it is best to NOT GET ANGRY. If you start to get angry say the Ana Bekoach instead. Say it over and over, as often as you need, to calm yourself.

    2. Transform your Emotions

The passion and strength that one feels when one is angry is useful to use that strength with our desire to get close to God. How can you use the strength of your emotions to get closer to God?

    3. Protect Yourself from Anger from Others

When you are confronted by an angry person know that it is not their true self. It is a Neshamah from the other side. Excuse yourself, politely. The energy that is being directed at you or around you is not positive. If you can not leave view yourself in a cocoon of white light. Keep that around you until you are able to leave the location of that negative expression of emotion.

    4. Be grateful and express your gratitude.

Do it often and with great passion. This is a good place to use that strong emotional expression. It will bring you closer to God. Even expressing gratitude to Hashem for putting you in the place of someone Else's expression of anger. There is a reason you need to experience this negative emotion.

    The Tikune in Capricorn

If your lunar north node is in the Zodiac sign of Capricorn, your Tikune is in Capricorn.

In your last lifetime as a Cancer you were constantly involved with your anxieties and fears. This taught you to be the ultimate conformist. It was and is uncomfortable for you to be a risk taker. Yet that is the life lesson to learn as a Capricorn. Accept your responsibilities, look for new responsibilities and learn to take risks in order to achieve overall goals. In this way, you will taste the pleasures of risk taking. You will enjoy committing yourself without forethought.

One way to exercise this correction is to find a worthy cause and identify with it. This allows you to be able to draw on your inner strength to face up to obstacles. You will gain self-mastery and readiness to fulfill your spiritual mission in life.

Have a wonderful month. Please know that it is possible to be happy during this month.
