Hebrew Astrology According to Kabbalah

Wikipedia says the following about the History of Astrology:

Astrological is belief in correspondences between celestial observations and terrestrial events. This belief has influenced various aspects of human history, including world-views, language and many elements of social culture. chanoch adds: This belief is still active in western society today. It also has influence throughout the Eastern world today. The eastern world includes India and China among modern nations.

Among Indo-European peoples, astrology has been dated to the 3rd millennium BC, with roots in calendrical systems used to predict seasonal shifts and to interpret celestial cycles as signs of divine communications. Until the 17th century, astrology was considered a scholarly tradition, and it helped drive the development of astronomy. It was commonly accepted in political and cultural circles, and some of its concepts were used in other traditional studies, such as alchemy, meteorology and medicine. By the end of the 17th century, emerging scientific concepts in astronomy, such as heliocentrism, were irrevocably undermining the theoretical basis of astrology, which subsequently lost its academic standing.

In the 20th century astrology gained broader consumer popularity through the influence of regular mass media products, such as newspaper horoscopes. chanoch adds: Other astrological tools add to the 20th Century popularity. One of these is individual reading of popular icons like Movie Starts, Music stars, and polical influences like Mrs Ronald Reagan the wife of Ronald Reagan. It is rumored that the US government was greatly influenced by her astrologer and many of Mr Reagan's decisions were based on western astrology.

All Western astrolgoy started in the Babylonian area of the middle east. This is the area that today is Iran - or Persia. This is the area where Abraham the Patriarch.lived prior to HaShem telling him to go west and reside in the "land of Canaan". This is the countries of Israel, Jordan, Gaza, Sinai, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq today.

Hebrew Astrology begins with the Sefer Yetzirah reportedly written by Abraham as a book of outreach to the people of his generation. The important thing to remember is that we, in todays generation, are still considered Abraham's generation. Abraham taught in the 400 chapters of the original Sefer Yetzirah "how to have a personal experience of the Creator". Today we have 6 chapters only and they may not be from the original chapters. This is because the Academic Kabbalists tell us that Rabbi Akiva redacted the scraps and scrolls available to him into these 6 chapters. There are 3 different versions of the Sefer Yetzirah called the short form - the long form - and the GRA. On our website our classes on the Sefer Yetzirah uses the long form and the commentary of the Kabbalist Cordovero.

Modern Issues for Astrology

Up until the 1700's Western Astrolgy used 7 planets as the form of their system. These planets are listed with both English and Hebrew Names:

sun - שמש which is the internal name or חמה which is the external name

moon -

Mercury - לבנה

Venus - כוכב

Mars - מאדים

Jupiter - צדק

Saturn - שבתאי

In the last approximately 300 years western science has discovered 3 addtional planets. Here are there names:

Neptune - נפטון - It is interesting to note that this word for Neptune in Hebrew comes from a shoresh - root that translates as oil, kerosene, petroleum, and fuel oil.

Uranus - אורנוס - It is interesting to note that this word for Uranus in Hebrew translates as "miracle light".

Pluto - פלוטו - It is interesting to note that this word for Pluto in Hebrew comes from a shoresh - root that translates as "output". Remember Pluto is no longer a planet and this relates to the Kabbalistic machloket regarding Keter. Is it a planet or not - is Keter a Light or a Vessel.

When you count the number of planets in the above list the answer is 10. As a student of Kabbalah it is easy to make the connection to a Sephirot for each planet.

Hebrew Astrology

Before we go into Hebrew Astrology we need to relate certain things that are my opinion but a rational person would make these same deductions.

The ancient Kabbalists knew that there were 7 active planets as well as that there were 10 Sephirot. Therefore there must be 3 planets that were not active in our physical world. When these outer 3 planets were revealed by science Western Astrology spent a number of decades or centuries and they reached a consensus that there is a relationship between the three outer planets and 3 of the 7 inner planets. This consensus relates that the three outer planets and the 3 inner planets are essentially the same energies except the outer planets are more active and stronger in their influence with these energies.

Now what did the ancient Sages of the science of Hebrew Astrology know? Actually, in my opinion they knew about these outer planets yet were not active until the revelation by western science since the 7000 year period has a significant teaching about the last years of the 7000 year period. This teaching is that there is 2 different influences of the final letters which also relate to the Birthpangs of Mashiach. In essence the Hebrew Astrology teaches that the letter gematria will change to reflect a different influence of each Hebrew word where a final letter appears. This gematria change might also apply to the regular form letters during this process that brings Mashiach. In the Sefer Yetzirah Avraham teaches that there are two letters associated with the Astrological influences of the planets and also the Constellations.

Many modern Western Astrologists teach that Western Astrology is a science yet it is not accepted that way. In my opinion when someone goes for an astrology reading what is happening is that the reader uses the chart as a tool to connect to a level of consciousness that allows them to perceive various aspects of the future for that person. Sometimes this is benficial and sometimes not beneficial. It is all connected to the tikune relationship between the astrologer and the client.

When it comes to Hebrew Astrology there is a significant difference. It is a science yet it also must change itself and reveal these ancient secrets in the modern world. Just as the Hebrew language itself is changing through its resurrection as a modern speaking language from its category as an ancient "dead" language.

When Moshe took the nation out of Egypt the Epoch was in the sign of Taurus. This is why the people built a Golden Calf and the Northern Kingdom of "Israel" built two golden calf alters to keep the people from going up to Jerusalem. Modern science teaches that the solar system continues to change by a few parts of a degree each year until after 4000 years we are now in a different Epoch. The Epoch that Moshe was in was the Taleh or Ram constellation and now it is in the Picses or Fishes Constellation. It is taught that this constellation relates to the time of the Mashiach and moving to the world of Peace in the physical world. Kabbalah teaches that people are growing spiritually at different rates so that their are people who are impacted by the 7 inner planets and the 12 constellations alone. While other people have grown to a spiritual level where they are influenced by all 10 planets and the 13 constellations. We will discuss these 13 constellation influences below. To my knowledge i am the only person discussing these ideas. Over the next years i will discuss these ideas in more detail, including some of these teachings coming from Modern Science. Please note Kabbalistic Astrology is a exact science yet the purpose of this science is to explain many Kabbalistic teachings not to reveal what the future will bring.

More Astrological Information for the month of Kislev

The Astrological sign connected to the Hebrew month of Kislev is Sagitarius. Some astrologers refer to this sign as the Archer and others as the bow. Additional Information about Hebrew Astrology

Everyone in Hebrew Astrology has a sun sign which relates to the way the world sees the person. Everyone has a moon sign which relates to the way the person sees the world. It represents the persons inner essence. Every one has a rising sign or ascendant. This sign indicates a predilection for various character traits.

Here is a link to a page that shows that tendency to activate certain character traits. This means as Kabbalah teaches about relativity, based on the Ascendant someone may develop a negative character trait. This does not mean one must have that trait it only shows a tendency to develop the trait. It is recommended for each person to look at this chart within the next link to determine for themselves if these tendencies are at work in their life.
