Week of August 29, 2010 Shabbat Nitzavim Vayelech Elul 25, 5770 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha is a double portion, yet together they are one of the smallest Portions of the whole year. And they are the last reading of 5770. Remember the spriitual law relating to the physical world. "Less is More". Nitzavim means "Standing". Vayelech means "Walking". We are standing before the judgment of Rosh Hashana and walking away from the baggage (mistakes) of our past year (providing we have been doing the spiritual work of Tshuvah). There is a unique effect that takes place on the Shabbat before Rosh Hashana. Nitzavim is always read before Rosh HaShana. The effect that happens on Shabbat Nitzavim is similar to what happens when a righteous person leaves this world. When a Tzadik leaves this world Kabbalah teaches that there is a doubling of the light that the Tzadik revealed during his lifetime. This is associated with the Spherah of Malchut or manifestation. Since this Shabbat is the Sperah of Malchut for the year Taf Shin Ayin there is a doubling of the light that you revealed in this year. This is the light that you have available to you as you are judged on Rosh HaShana. The Shabbat of Nitzavim causes your light to be doubled. What does that actually mean as a practical level? To answer this question, one must ask another question. In a dark room, when one turns on the light, Where does the darkness go? The Kabbalists explain the darkness goes into the light, it does not disappear. This will help us answer the question above by reading below. The Kabbalists teach us that every human is judged on Rosh HaShana. This means you are sent the amount of energy that you need for the whole year on what the Talmud calls this one long day (2 days of Rosh HaShana). Actually you are sent all of the energy you need for a perfect chaos free year. Yet this energy is blocked by the baggage (mistakes) that you bring into the year with you from last year. When our light is doubled on Shabbat Nitzvim - the darkness (baggage) goes into the light and no longer blocks the light of judgment on Rosh Hashana. So we receive more of that light that creates a chaos free year for us on Rosh Hashana. Shabbat Nitzavim is a true gift from HaShem. The ability to strengthen or double the light we revealed during this past year in order that we will receive more light this next year. An amazing example of HaShem's Mercy. So what do we have to do to have this happen in our life? Just KNOW that it happens on Shabbat Nitzavim. And remember that it is happening on Rosh Hashana. Enjoy Rosh HaShana! There are 4 Spaces in Nitzvim and 3 spaces in Vayelech for a total of 7 spaces. 7 always represents the unity of Zeir Anpin (spiritual world) and Malchut (physical world). In other words it represents the unification of the Spiritual and Physical Worlds. This is what allows us to receive the doubling of the light. In order to receive all that we can receive on Rosh HaShana, we have to have the consciousness of no limitations. If we think i want a better job, or less sickness in the family, or a stronger relationship with my spouse and kids, or to get pregnant, or to get a new house, or for the economy to improve, we have to know that all of these thoughts put a limit on what HaShem wants us to receive on Rosh HaShana. Our consciousness on Rosh Hashana determines the kind of year we will have. Have you done your preparation to receive the flow of light from Binah? This is the message and essence of Vayelech. Moshe went (vayelech) to show us how to receive everything that HaShem wants to give us. This Long Day (the 2 days of Rosh HaShana). When we hear the Shofar we have to know that all of the chaos we created is being destroyed. Do you know it? Can you change your belief into knowledge in the few days you have left before Rosh Hashana? Know that the consciousness that you allow yourself to feel and think on Rosh Hashana will determine your year. And also my year. As we are in this boat together. When you limit yourself you limit me. Please do not limit me! Please keep the consciousness of desire to receive for oneself alone to a level of ZERO. Please hold the consciousness of the desire to receive in order to share at all times with all your strength on this Long Day. Remember we are being renewed this day. Remember that we will need to mature during the 23 days of Holiday from Rosh HaShana to Simchat Torah. When we hold our consciousness in firm direction of the idea of MORE - More of everything good, the more we will receive. Please help me! Please help yourself. Please help our nations and our world. Have a chaos free year by having an unlimited mind and heart on Rosh Hashana! On Rosh HaShana only think of MORE positivity; only desire MORE positivity; ONLY MANIFEST MORE positivity! in our lives! In view of the message above i want to ask you to plan ahead in your calendars. This Shabbat is the 25th Day of Elul which is the Birthday of the Worlds. It is Yom Echad (Day 1 of Creation). No it is not the First Day which would be Yom Rishon and imply there were to be more days coming. Hashem said Yom Echad - Day One which includes everything. Use that essence to plan what will you do on the First Shabbat in Tishrai which is the 3rd of Tishrai or the 11th of September. What additional study of Torah will you do with your family? with yourself? with your Chevruta? What additional sharing action will you do with your friends and neighbors to help people in your community? What old age home will you visit? What hospital to visit the sick? What additional charity will you give today? to whom and how much? Where will you go to help clean up the environment? What committments will you make today to help the needy during the year? What food will you not eat today and leave/give to a poor stranger? How will you change yourself today so that the year ahead will be MORE positive. Remember this is the First Shabbat of the year and everything you do will reflect into every other Shabbat of the year. Do the planning today so that you can do the actions on September 11. Do this same planning for September 12 - 4th of Tishrai; September 13; 5th of Tishrai; September 14th - 6th of Tishrai; September 15th - 7th of Tishrai; September 16th - 8th of Tishrai; September 17th - 9th of Tishrai; for each of these days is the first of that week day in the year. Each of these days actions will reflect into the same week day for each day of the new year. This day (3rd of Tishrai) is an unusual energy. While the Fast of Gedalia is delayed until the 4th of Tishrai due to the Honor of Shabbat, our sages have taught that each of us need to feel the lack from this day through out the generations. That is why they declared a fast day on the 3rd of Tishrai and called it the fast of Gedalia. Do you know who Gedalia is? Why not? This lack from this day is so shocking that it could be seared into your soul. So we see that Satan does his job well. Most of us including our Rabbi's do not know what the lack from this day is about. After Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the House of God - Temple One and sent the people into exile he appointed a descendant of David to be King over the land as his regent. Our ancestors went into shock and argued. What did they argue about? Not that they were shamed that their/our actions destroyed the Temple and Nebuchadnezzar was the channel for its destruction. No that was not the argument. The argument was How could Nebuchadnezzar have the effrontery to appoint a King in Israel - Only God can do that - so we should not follow his directions. This was the argument. Not pain and shock from the House of God being destroyed but only God can appoint a King! Do you understand how absurd this argument is. Should we obey this King or not? How can that matter when we need to do Tshuvah over causing the destruction of God 's House. Yet we argued over weather to obey King Gedalia. We argued so much that somebody (a Jewish Man) actually assassinated King Gedalia ( a Jewish Man). A Jew killed another Jew in the Land of Israel. That had not happened since Cain killed Abel. This action was so severe and shocking that it woke people up and made us realize the absurdity of the argument instead of doing Tshuvah. So the sages declared a fast day for all of the generations to remind each of us to keep our priorities straight. Do Tshuva for destroying the Temple! Do Tshuva for Hatred for no reason! Do Tshuva so that we do not make more silly and stupid mistakes like compounding our earlier actions with a murder of a King! Have a Happy, Fullfilled, New Year.
