Week of April 10, 2011 Shabbat Hagadol; Acherai Mot 12 Nissan, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha of Acherai Mot is read. Acherai Mot is sometimes read as a double portion with Kedoshim. When this is done we discuss what happens After Death (which is the meaning of Acherai Mot)? One moves towards Holiness (the meaning of Kedoshim)! Also please check out this link about the 13 days of Nissan. See the First Days of Nissan are Unique! This is due to the teaching of the ARI about the first days of Nissan, which is still active all of this week. If you missed any days it can be made up on Sunday 17th of April. I am presently giving a series of classes explaining the unity of the Holiday of Purim, the first 13 days of Nissan, The Holiday of Pesach, The counting of the Omer, The Holiday of the 7th day of Pesach, The Holidays of Iyar, and the Holiday of Shavuot or Pentecost (The Giving (Revelation) of the Torah). I strongly suggest that you listen to these classes which are on Sunday mornings at 10 AM and can be viewed on video conferencing with prior reservation and by conference call at 213-289-0500 with the code 911904#. You must agree to be recorded by pressing 1 as well. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. Torah Readings: Vayikra - Leviticus Chapter 16 Verse 1 to Chapter 18 Verse 30. There are 80 Verses which, by gematria, is the letter Pey. The word Pey means mouth. This is very significant as part of the teachings from the Hagadah ( the book that is traditionally read during the Sedar. Hagadah means "telling". Obviously, the telling of a story comes from the mouth.) The code words are ?? ?? and ???. ??? means "His Witness". ?? ?? means "all that". What do we learn about this Parasha from these unusual code words. We learn to ask some questions. Who is the witness? What is the witness witnessing? What is the meaning of the phrase "All That"? I want you to think about these questions and what are the possible answers before we express the essence of the Parasha below. The number of words in the Parasha is 1170 ??? This word comes from a shoresh that means to be dislocated or to be placed in a new environment. This is understood when we realize the Nadav and Avihu were taken from their bodies and became incarnated along with Pinchas the Zealot when he died after killing the Nasi of the Tribe of Shimon Zimri and Cosby the Moabite princess / priestess who were having sex in public. This information comes from the Parasha of Balak and from the Midrash. I think you get the idea that these souls became removed from their bodies. Ultimately these 3 souls Pinchas, Nadav and Avihu became the person known as Eliyahu Hanavi (Elijah the Prophet). Actually this Parasha has some amazing laws of cleansing as its essence. We will discuss this more below. Maftir: Exodus Chapter 18 Verses 28 to 30. There are 3 verses and 1 space. We have discussed the meaning of 3 and 1 in prior emails. This is an unusual Maftir. The Shabbat has a special name (Shabbat HaGadol) and a special Haftara but not a special Maftir. This is the only Shabbat that this happens. It has only a special Haftara but not a special Maftir. It is not clearly revealed by the writings of the Sages as to what is the meaning of the name Shabbat Hagadol (The big Shabbat). I will give you my limited understanding below. Spaces: There are 15 spaces in the Parasha. 15 is the Gematria of the upper worlds of Chochma and Bina. Abba and Ema in the terms of the Tree of lIfe. We will discuss this more below. Haftara: The Haftara is the same for both Sephardim and Ashkenazim Minhagim (customs). It is the prophet Malachi Chapter 3 Verse 3 to 24 plus verse 23 is read a second time. There are 22 verses plus 1 verse is read a second time. The additional verse relates to the additional letter that will be revealed on this great day by the Prophet Elija. There is only 1 space in the Haftara. The Haftara is called the Haftara for Shabbat HaGadol. The big Shabbat. This is the Shabbat before the Holiday of Pesach. It is the Shabbat where the consciousness of man changes to be able to manifest Mind Over Matter at the end of days. See below! Written and Spoken Verses: There are no words written and spoken differently in the Parasha or the Haftara. Large or Small Letters: There are no large or small letters in the Haftara or the Parasha. Columns: All columns start with a Vav except the verse from Chapter 16 verse 8. This column starts with a Shin from the word Shnai. This happens on 6 columns of the scroll during the course of the year. The six letters spell ??????. This word can be translated as "With Yood Hay is His Name". There is also a teaching relating to healing about this name that comes from the letters that start the columns that start ??????. Its gematria is 363. This is 345 + 18. 345 is the Gematria of one of the 72 Name of God dealing with healing among other attributes. 18 is the gematria of the word Chai which means life. The meaning of this connection is when we reach the Shin at the head of the column we should stop and meditate on the healing of all life. As well as "Hashem is Life". This second meditation comes from the gematria of Hashem which is also 345 as it has the same letters as the 72 Name for healing Mem Hay Shin. There are 2 full columns and 2 partial columns. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. The Haftara is an end of days haftara. It is prophesying about what will happen. It speaks about the Tribe of Levi and how they will be refined like silver. It is actually speaking about our hearts, as the word levi can be read as children of levi or children of my heart, referring to the children of Hashem's heart. The Haftara also speaks to us today as we prepare to burn the chametz and declare all unburned chametz void and null. This is about mind over matter. Are you ready or are you still trying to live in the physical world. Take control of your world please. That is what the Shabbat HaGadol is about. The essence of this Parasha, called Acherai Mot, which means "after death", is "Resurrection of the Dead". This comes by using the death of Nadav and Avihu as a vaccine against death. After all they did not die. They along with Pinchas reincarnated into Eliyahu Hanavi. All of the verses dealing with sexual no no's are really dealing with cleansing mechanisms that are part of the Resurrection of the Dead. When one reads these verses on their simple level they make a big mistake and miss a big opportunity to connect to the consciousness of Bilah Hamavet Hanetzach. This means Death will be swallowed up forever. Let me give you an example: Lets look at one verse; Chapter 18 verse 10. Hebrew: ???? ??-??? ?? ??-??? ?? ???? ????? ?? ????? ??? English:
The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover; for theirs is thine own nakedness. The only problem with this translation it does not address the last word ??? at all. People think they understand this verse but it does not make sense unless you also translate the last word as part of the verse. Then the translation becomes The Nakedness of Malchut of the Right column of the Tree of Life; or the Nakedness of the Left column of the Tree of LIfe; Even their nakedness shall not be uncovered because here is your nakedness. A lot of people will not understand this translation because they have been taught to "see" the Tree of Life as a two dimensional diagram not the multi-dimensional truth that it (Tree of Life) actually is. Rabbi Ashlag in his book Esser Sephirot repeatedly cautions us to not learn from charts and diagrams that are two dimensional, it leads us to misunderstand the truth involved in the relationships between sephirot. Kabbalistically nakedness represents revealing of light or revealing of fulfillment. What this verse is saying, using sexual metaphors, is that the fulfillment of Malchut should not be revealed. When one reveals the light of fulfillment for Malchut one is connecting to the energy of end or death. This is because there is no continuity with in Malchut. The only way to connect Malchut to continuity is through the consciousness of restriction or "binding by striking". These Kabbalistic tools unify the Sephirot which connects Malchut to the energy of continuity and transforms the concept of a line into a concept called a circle. Yes i know this is hard to understand without a deep understanding of the Sephirot. That is why we need to start to learn Kabbalah so that we can start to understand Torah on this level of language. The Torah has 70 explanations and we need to learn all of them if we are able. An excuse that "it is too hard for me" does not work unless you say "i truly tried to learn it at this level". Have you tried to learn and understand Torah as it is meant to be understood? Will you please STOP READING THE TORAH AS simple stories and uncoded words! The Zohar says that it would be better that the person who reads Torah as simple stories would have never been born. In my opinion, you are constantly harming yourself when you do so!
