Week of July 3, 2011 Shabbat Balak,Tammuz 14, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha is named Balak ???. Much of the story this week is about Balak and another Rasha (evil man) named Bilam ????. The Zohar explains that the two names include the letters of the nation of Amalek spelled ????. The letters "left over" are ???. When permutated to ??? it can be translated as "2 Bet Lamed's". This would then spell the word Bilbul ????, which means confusion or mixing up. This Parasha is about confusing Amalek or in more modern terms it acts as a vaccine against Amalek. Amalek is a nation that has the same Gematria as the word Safek which means doubt. Amalek is a nation that is at war with Hashem for all of the generations. We can best understand this issue of why is Hashem at war with one of his creations - the nation of Amalek. It is because Amalek represents doubts, while Hashem represents certainty. Have you allowed Amalek (doubts) into your heart? Are you striving to grow certainty and remove doubts? Then you are a soldier in the War of Hashem throughout the generations! The essence of this Parasha is to act as a vaccine against doubts in your mind and heart. Without your hearing this Parasha it is almost impossible for you to grow spiritually because we are constantly attacked by doubts. The only way to defeat doubts is to connect to Hashem and certainty. Our website provides a tool to strengthen your connection to certainty. Write to yeshshem@hotmail.com to request your personal tool that destroys the nation of Amalek within you. This parasha always appears the first or second Shabbat before the 17th of Tammuz. This energy and the energy of Healing associated with next weeks parasha of Pinchas are necessary to cope with the energy of the 3 week period that goes from the 17th of Tammuz through the 9th of Av. Here are links that will help you understand this upcoming negative period accorrding to Rabbi Issac Luria the foremost Kabbalist of the last 500 years. 3 week Period and Easy Fast Meditation for 17th of Tammuz and 9th of Av Here is our weekly cartoon link for the Parasha. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. Torah Readings: The reading of the Parasha is Numbers Chapter 22 Verse 2 to Chapter 25 Verse 9. The total number of Verses is 104. This is spelled ?? in Hebrew. This connects to the idea of burning, to blaze, or to kindle. Its relationship to the war against Amalek is clear, We must have strong burning emotions against Amalek to remove doubts from our lives. The code word from the Sages is ????. This word translates as "deceased", "resting place", "the late" "quiet". The relation to the war against Amalek should be clear to you. When you defeat Amalek by destroying your doubts you can achieve quiet and rest, ultimately acheiving serenity from the knowledge that Amalek is deceased and resting in his place (grave). The number of words in the Parasha is 1455 spelled ????. This word can be translated as "the name of the Talmudic Sages", "to recount", to tell, to narrate, to stipulate, to make a condition, to agree. As you can see this is relating to the war against Amalek which is a condition of creation. Of course we can and should ask the question why does the creator fight a war with a creation. The creation can never win? What is the purpose? It all relates to free choice. If it is easy to have certainty in the creator when there is no removal of Bread of Shame (a Kabbalistic concept dealing with earning your way). According to the Kabbalah it must be difficult to remove doubts and as we know Satan and Amalek are very good at what they do. Maftir: The Maftir is Chapter 25 Verses 7 - 9. This is 3 Verses and 1 space. We have spoken about these numbers before. There is a relationship between the Lag B'Omer Holiday and the 3 weeks period. It is explained in the Maftir. Why don't you write to me at yeshshem@hotmail.com and let me know what the relationship is all about. Spaces: There are 2 spaces in this Parasha. These relate to Certainty and Doubt. Also Bilaam and Balak. The spaces actually provide the light to remove doubt and strengthen certainty. Haftara: The Haftara is Micah Chapter 5 verse 6 to Chapterr 6 Verse 8. It has 17 verses and 3 spaces. This connects to the energy of balance (3 spaces) and goodness (17 verses). Written and Spoken Verses: Both the Parasha and the Haftara do not have any words written differently than they are spoken. Large or Small Letters and Dots: There are no large or small letters in the Haftara or the Parasha. Columns: All columns start with a Vav except one which starts with a Mem. This is one of the six special columns in the Torah. The six columns start with ??????. This sequence is used for healing. To explain this in greater detail. The 6 columns that start with letters other than a Vav all have spiritual meanings. Healing is needed before the energy of the 3 week period manifests. Always remember Hashem always creates the cure before the disease manifests. It is important this week and next to hear the Torah reading. There are 4 full columns and 2 partial columns in the Parasha. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. On the physical level the Haftara speaks about the Parasha and what Bilaamand Balak attempted to do by cursing the nation and being forced to bless the nation of the Children of Israel. On the spiritual level, just as the Parasha is a vaccine so is the Haftara. The Haftara speaks about Hashems' anger in how the Children of Israel do not listen to him and do not do his Mitzvot etc. The haftara is in fact giving us the energy to perform the will of Hashem. As said earlier the essence of the Parasha is a vaccine against Doubt and strengthening the connection to certainty. The story ends with Bilamm rising up and returning to his place and Balak also went on his way. There are some truly interesting midrashim associated with the end of the Parasha where it indicates the Nation settled in Shittim spelled ?????. Please note the relationship between Shittim and the English word "Shit". This relationship will shortly become clear. The midrashim teaches that the hatred from Bilaam and Balak (Amalek) towards Israel was so great that prior to leaving Bilaam suggested to Balak that the only way to defeat Israel was to cause them to "sin". When Israel settled in Shittim and the whole issue of Cosbi and Zimri causing public display of affection, which Pinchas cured, occurred there was a story that precedes this event. When the men of the Children of Israel went to visit Moab they were invited to go behind closed tent doors by the Crones (grandmothers) of Moav. When inside the tents they were introduced to an idol by the daughters of Moav. This idol asked to be "served" putting one's back side towards a stick and defecating in front of this stick. The Men thought it was a joke and agreed to serve the idol in order to sleep with the women. This is the mistake that was made. What we learn from these midrashim and a study of the place name Shittim is a true spiritual lesson that many people do not learn. When we meet people, of our culture or a different culture, we utilize our personal values to judge these people. This is human nature. Yet when we do this we make mistakes due to not understanding the internal values of people. When we do this we make the mistake of evauluating others by our values which leads to mistakes and errors and eventually forms of idol worship even when we do not think we are doing idol worship. How can defecating in front of a stick be idol worship? How does the above discussion relate to our lives today. How are we doing idol worship when we are certain we would never do so? There is a lot to consider as we enter the month of Tammuz - The month that means "completion of the Vav and Zion". By the way the letter Chet is made up by unifying the vav and zion with a little house on top. Look at the Hebrew letter Chet and its internal essence. The name Chet is one of the Hebrew words for Sin meaning "missing the target". There is an amazing spiritual lesson taught in this Parasha relating to Astrology and Tshuvah and Certainty. What is the relationship? All of us living today have previous lives one of which was living in the time of the Generation of Knowledge who spent 40 years walking in the desert. We all participated in some fashion in the building the Golden Calf. This action is changeable through Tshuvah. It takes certainty to know that Tshuvah works and it takes the knowledge of the Jewish calendar and Astrology to asssist us in changing the past to come back to the future that no longer has the chaos associated with the Golden Calf. Are you willing to try these tools of Kabbalah to see if they will work in your life? Write me for information about yourself and how to find out what you did in respect to the Golden Calf and how can you do Tshuvah for your actions! Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
