This year being the The Year TESHA תשע, i will bring forth interesting aspects from anywhere in the Parasha, rather than focus on the beginning of each Parasha. It will be helpful for you to read (again) the previous years emails. They are just a click away - in the left column of this email. There are 21 spaces in the writing of the Torah Scroll. There is meaning to each of these spaces. In fact prior to the adoption of the Church generated Chapter and Verse nomenclature for discussing a specific verse, these spaces were used to identify the Verse under discussion. Just for the record, Chapter and Verse was originally not Jewish. It was adopted and returned to Torah using a technique that was known to the Sages but is now referred to as a teaching of the Baal Shem Tov. This teaching explains how to return wisdom to Torah without the corruptions associated with its use by other cultures. This is part of the reason that our Parshiot do not always start at the beginning of a Chapter. In the Torah scroll there are 3 types of "spaces". One is where a verse ends on a line and the next verse starts on a new line. Another has at least the distance of 9 letters between the end of a verse and the beginning of the next verse on the same line. The 3rd has at least 16 letters distance with both verses being on the same line. Each time there is a space, it represents an opening for the Light of HaShem to manifest within the Torah and within our lives. After each day of creation there is a space for Hashem. The reason for 21 spaces has to do with the concept of the 7 days of creation times the 3 columns of the spiritual system. Right which is sharing; Left which is Receiving; and Central which is balance between the two. We learn from this the spiritual law that it takes at least 3 weeks to manifest something created. This law also teaches us why there are 3 weeks between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av. There is another spiritual lesson taught from these 21 spaces. The creation which is described in the Parasha of Beraishit also includes the 3 upper spiritual worlds. The connection that hints at this is the Gematria of Yood Hay Vav which has a Gematria of 21. These 3 Letters are used as the Kevenot within Sukkot and the Parasha is always read on the Shabbat after Sukkot. There is another connection in this Parasha to the 21 spaces. The Hebrew / Aramaic word for certainty is Vadai spelled Vav Dalet Aleph Yood. Its gematria is 21. Creation without certainty is chaos. During the Chagim we have created our year but only if we have certainty that we are able to do this. Without this certainty we allow space for the chaos to enter our year. I draw your attention to a little understood section of this Parasha. Chapter 6 Verses 1 to 4. I have always been interested in this section because on its surface it asks the question "What is this doing here and what is this all about"? In our modern age there are people who talk about UFO's and being visited by "Grey's" and "Blue's". I was very surprised to find descriptions, in the Zohar, of entities similar to these stories. We have midrashim that explain this Chapter as referring to Sons of "Elohim" as races of Angels or extra - terrestrials who visited our earth and became involved with human women who bore children. "There is nothing new under the sun" as King Sholmo has said. There are midrashim that describe the 7 inner earth's where Adam fathered races that look like these descriptions of the Greys and the Blues. It is said through a midrash that Adam blamed Eve for bringing Cain into the world and causing death to come to the world. He became so upset from Cain killing Abel that he separated from Eve for 130 years. It was during this seperation that these "races" were fathered with Lilith - the Female aspect of the Satan. Are these stories TRue? They are part of Torah. They are to be studied and understood. There is a reason for these 4 verses to be in the Parasha called "Beginning". What do you learn from these verses? I refer you to Chapter 4 Verse 17. Cain became a "ciity builder". Cain had a son Chanoch the same name as Chanoch the grandfather of Noach. The name of the first city was Chanoch. Where was this city built? Some say it is the cities of the Mayan and South American Indians. Remember one of the understandings of the Name Chanoch is "Hidden Wisdom" of "26" or Yood Kay Vav Kay. This brings about a question - is it good to live in Cities or should we return to be closer to the Land? Are these real questions to ask of ourselves? We have just come through an annual period of Tshuvah. We have promised Hashem many things - and we meant them. The question is how can we make those promises happen. How can we make sure that our actions this year are different than our actions from last year. How can we make our actions more closely resemble Hashem's actions. It means we need to change ourselves. Change begins in the mind. Change begins by looking at those parts of ourselves that are selfish. I ask these questions to shock you into thinking outside the box. Look at things a little differently than you did last week or last year. Did someone hurt you?; Did someone upset you?; Are you worried about your job?; Your economy?; Your health? Remember the tool to fix all of these concerns is to remember that this is the life you are creating. You want to change something in your life. The only way is to change yourself! Can you? Do you want to? Then you can and you will? Need help? just start studying Kabbalah! Learn Zohar everyday for 2 minutes. Sign up for an email from www.dailyzohar.com.
