Week of April 24, 2011 Shabbat Kedoshim,Nissan 26, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha of Kedushim is read. Acherai Mot is sometimes read as a double portion with Kedoshim. When this is done we discuss what happens After Death (which is the meaning of Acherai Mot)? One moves towards Holiness (the meaning of Kedoshim)! Kedoshim actually has two words within it. It has the shoresh קדש and the word ים which means sea. The shoresh has many english translations. Among them is "to betroth" as in asking someone to marry you. Kedoshim can be translated as Marry a Sea. In Kabbalah the word sea means Torah. Therefore Kedoshim means to marry the Torah. It means to unify your attitudes with the directions and suggestions of the Torah. On a deeper level it means to realize that your desires were created to reveal some attribute of the creator. From this discussion comes a teaching that is difficult for religious people. The religious person asks What is the will of God for me to do? The actual answer from God is in the Torah. It is in Exodus Chapter 14 Verse 15. God said to Moshe "Why are you crying to me?". Do not ask what is the will of God for me? You already know what that will is because your desires come from the creator. The will of God is your desire. The problem is most people do not understand this truth and do not work to make their desires clear to themselves. This Parasha is a help to you in acheiving that clarity. By hearing the reading on the 26th of Nissan it starts you on the path of thought which will manifest more closer during the month of Iyar whose sense is "thought" according to the Sefer Yetzirah. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. Torah Readings: Vayikra - Leviticus Chapter 19 Verse 1 to Chapter 20 Verse 27. There are 64 Verses which, by gematria, is the the word Samech Dalet סד. This word means support and also be looked at as the phrase Sameck Dalet. Sameck means support and Dalet means doorway. This word teaches us that this Parasha has the essence of "doorway to support". Do you see how this relates to the discussion of desire and the will of God above? The code words from the Sages are מי זהב and ונגה. The second name means in Hebrew is "And Nogah" translates as "and shine" or "and Venus" (the planet). It also means "and foreskin". In Kabbalah the word Nogah is the name of the Malchut level of the negative tree. The Kabbalists say this because this level named Nogah has mixed energy. It has some good and some evil within it. This is true of our Parasha as it discusses Holyness and the idol Molech. The first code word translates as "whoever is gold". Gold is the metal that represents the left column or the desire to receive column of the Tree of Life. Who is Gold is the one who knows his true desire as that is the Will of God for him. Of course we can confuse this as many times the evil inclination gives us what we think is a desire but it is an illusion not a true desire. The number of words in the Parasha is 868 תתסח . The word תסח means "he will uproot". The gematria of the second taf is 400. Therefore the word can be translated as He will uproot 400. Kabbalistically 400 usually represents the 400 levels of negativity associated with the 400 men that accompanied Esav when he and Jacob reunited after 22 years. I believe this is clear as to the essence of the Parasha and the discussions above. Maftir: Exodus Chapter 20 Verses 25 to 27. There are 3 verses and 1 space. We have discussed the meaning of 3 and 1 in prior emails. Spaces: There are 4 spaces in the Parasha. 4 relates to the 4 worlds as well as the 4 phases taught by Rabbi Ashlag as the Creative Process. The Creative Process is how the Creator created desire to receive or as the sages say "something (desire) from nothing (The creator has no desire within him)". Haftara: The Haftara is different for the Sephardim nd Ashkenazim. Actually there are two customs within the Ashkenazim for this Parasha. Most Ashkenazim read Ezekiel Chapter 22 Verse 1 to 16. This is 16 verses and 1 space. Other Ashkenazim read to verse 19. This makes 19 verses and 2 spaces. The Sephardim read Ezekiel Chapter 20 Verse 2 to 20. This is 19 verses and Zero spaces. Both Haftara's deal with a rebuke to the Elders (Leaders of Israel) (Sephardic) and people of Israel (Ashkenazim). Written and Spoken Verses: There are no words written and spoken differently in the Parasha or the Haftara. Large or Small Letters: There are no large or small letters in the Haftara or the Parasha. Columns: All columns start with a Vav. There are 1 full columns and 2 partial columns. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. Both Haftarot, on the physical level are dealing with telling the people that they have gone away from their creator. On the spiritual level these admonishments are dealing with the people following their own desires as opposed to the suggestions of the Creator as expressed in the 5 Books of Moshe. How do we understand this issue with the discussion above? Read below and with the help of Hashem i will attempt to make it clear to all. To discuss the Parasha: Since God created our desires, our desires must be equivalent to his "desire" to be revealed. Yet the Haftara is saying people follow their desires and that is what the creator does not want. How to reconcile this? There is a spiritual system that works like an antenna that is broadcasting two radio stations. One station broadcasts thoughts from the Creator. One station broadcasts thoughts from Satan. Our physical brains pick up these thoughts from this spiritual antenna. What we do not realize is that these thoughts may not belong to me. They may be meant for someone else. Our desire is from the creator but we are veiling our desire with these thoughts that come through the Antenna that may not belong to me. If they belong to another person but i picked them up and it is now my thought i think it is my desire AND THAT IS PART OF THE ILLUSION. The illusion is what we need to see past or through so that we actually can see the TRUE REALITY. The tool we need to use will help us determine which thought we pickup is ours and which belong to other people. What is that tool? It is a tool called "Binding by Striking" or restriction. You receive a thought from the spiritual system. You are not sure if it belongs to you! Throw it back - return it to the spiritual system. Tell yourself i am not following that thought. If it is your thought that is a true desire of yours that it will stick with you. If it is not yours you will not hear it again. Of course sometimes we have to return the thought many times until we get a clear picture of what is my desire. Our sages teach that every one has a true desire to cleave to the creator. This email is too short to discuss this subject correctly. There is one way to know if the thought you are receiving is meant for you and is a true desire of yours that is meant to be revealed in your life. If your thought will cause pain or suffering to another it is not a true thought of yours. Throw this thought away! Follow this rule and you will always know what to do. In every situation your action will become clear. I would like to discuss the idol Molech with you. Please look at Chapter 20 Verse2. The phrase "from his seed to Molech" is used. The letters in Hebrew of Molech is the same letters of Melech which means "King". What type of government is Israel supposed to have? Is the Meshiach supposed to be our government? We call Mashiach King Mashiach! Is that the type of government Israel is supposed to have? Lets look at this Hebrew word מלך. When we permutate these letters we can see some revealing information to answer the above question. מול ך - this means "your circumcision". מ לך - this means "from yourself" or also "from your going" מ ל ך - this means "from your teaching". Before we answer the question above, lets take an aside for a minute. What was the ritual of the idol of Molech? Some of the sages say that in the valley of Hinam called Gehinom or hell there was a metal idol with a fire in its belly. People would take their children to this metal idol and walk their children by the fire. Some of the sages said their children were not hurt. Some say they threw their children over the fire and they were not hurt. Some say they did this repeatedly until the children were burnt to death. Actually we do not know what this ritual was. We only have some speculations from the Talmud and the hints from the Torah. We also know that the creator wants us to grow into mature entities. A mature entity does not self destruct his continuity by killing his children. We also know that the creator wants us to become causes in our own lives and not effects of someone elses orders even a King - a Melech. It is clear that the creator does not want us to take orders even from him. We learn this from the Zohar as it discusses the word Tzav which means command. I am of the opinion from all that i said above that this section of the Parasha of Kedoshim is suggesting to us to not take orders from others even Kings. It is up to us to learn what is our own TRUE desire and then do it. Of course this can be dangerous as Satan finds it easy to mislead us. That is why the Kabbalah gives us the rule written below. If the desire i have will hurt someone it can not be from the creator. Remember the creator speaks to us with coded messages and he also speaks to us being able to see many moments, years, lifetimes ahead as to the results. We do not see the impact of our actions on others many years ahead of us. So how do we determine if this desire i feel will hurt someone else? This is a question that man has not yet answered especially as it relates to technology like atomic power. Yet the Mekubalim has accepted that responsibility. He will not teach someone who he sees has not yet conquered his ego. This is the best answer we can give at this time. Use your intuition, verify the truth of this intuition by questioning it in a detailed way. If you determine it is truth and reality then move forward with your desire and do it. Of course be willing to accept the responsibility for the consequences. Do not listen to someone even a King who is not willing to do the same. That means study Kabbalah! Does Hashem want us to have a King over us or does he want us to have a King among us? We call Mashiach King! Will Mashiach be a leader who orders us to do this or that, or will he be a King who suggest things that we will know will work from our own intuition? The choice is ours. What is your desire? What government do you want? What are you doing to manifest it in our world? Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
