Greetings!

This Shabbat is Rosh Chodesh Tammuz. When asked to say something positive about Tammuz, one of my teachers answered "People born in Tammuz are usually good cooks." I find this very funny, but only becauses i utilize the meditations from the ARI (see below) to protect me from the intense mixed energy of this month.

On the 17th of Tammuz Moshe was to return / descend to the camp from Mt. Sinai. He brought with him the Two Tablets of the Esser Debrot (10 Directions) and all of the Written (The Chumash) and Oral Torah (Talmud, Zohar, Midrashim, and all Torah commentary ever written). Instead the People built the Golden Calf and the Mashiach has been delayed until Today. Instead Moshe dropped / threw down to break the Tablets in an effort to sweeten the judgment/sin of Adultery between the Children of Israel and HaShem.

The energy of Tammuz is clearly spelled out in the Aramaic Name of the month which is Tammuz. Tammuz is spelled Taf Mem Vav Zion. Taf and Mem spell the word Tam which in Aramaic means complete, whole, or perfect. Also it sometimes is translated as "simple". When translated this way "Simple" does not mean simple like a simpleton (an ignoranmus) but "simple" is truly an aspect of perfection. This is contrary to most peoples understanding - Something perfect will always be simple to comprehend. Something perfect can not be able to have something added to it or subtracted to it. If it does have something added it or subtracted than it is not simple it becomes complex.

The last two letters (Vav and Zion) are components of the Letter Chet (The letter that creates the Constellation Sartan (Crab). They also (according to the Sefer Yetzirah) are the letters that created the Constellations Shor (the month of Iyar) and Tuomim (Twins) (the month of Sivan). In essence the energy of Tammuz is to complete the spiritual work of Iyar (healing and cleansing) and Sivan (Receiving the Torah and unifying the spiritual and physical worlds).

One of the interesting aspects of the Sartan (the crab) is it is incapable of walking straight ahead. It must move to one side and then the other in order to get to something directly ahead of it. This is part of the energy we will be influenced by during this month. The recommendation is to do restriction and restrict this impulse of ours to be directed away from our goals.

On Rosh Chodesh Tammuz it is good to utilize the Letters Chet and Taf, the last line of the Ana Bekoach, and the sequence of the Tetragrammaton Hay Vav Hay Yood to acheive control of the negative aspects of the month (so we minimize the influence) and enhance the positive aspects of the month which has to do with the art and skill of cooking.

Just because we did not get the actions correct and acheive our Tikune during the Exodus from Egypt does not mean we can not acheive that correction this year during Tammuz. Good Luck!

There is a special mediation taught by the ARI to be said and connected with during the 3 week period between the 17th of Tammuz (a declared universal (all Jewish communities) fast (sunrise to sunset) day) and the 9th of Av (also a universal 25 hour Fast Day). KORACH

The name of the Parasha this week is Korach. Please read the previous years email (link is to the left) to better understand this email.

The inner meaning of Parasha Korach is almost never revealed even by the Kabbalists. This is because most people are not ready to accept the possibility that Human Beings can control the physical world! Yes that is right. The inner essence of the Parasha of Korach is Mind Over Matter!

Lets look at the simple stories in this Parasha. There is the story of Korach and his argument/war with Moshe. This story culminates in Moshe telling the Children of Israel that an earth quake will happen and then the Children of Israel watch it happen. And of course they (Children of Israel) complain that Moshe killed the People of HaShem.

There is the story about stopping a plague using only incense. Then there is a story of Aaron be confirmed as Cohen Gadol through a miracle of an almond tree growing on the end of Aaron's staff.

Then there is the Mitzvah of tithing being reiterated for both the Leviim and the Cohanim.

Inside all of these stories we are able to learn about different levels of controlling the physical world. Essentially Mind Over Matter.

I have told you this story before but it bears repeating. Professor Albert Einstein was teaching his class about everything being a matter of consciousness. The tree does not grow in the forest until a human being acknowledges that it grows - either on the conscious or unconscious level. Later than day He drove home and discovered his doors were locked and he was unable to enter the house. Why can he not just erase the door from his consciousness and enter the house. or walk through the door. or ....another possibility? For the Kabbalist, the locksmith will drive by at that instant, or his wife will come home with the keys, or he will erase the door from his consciousness and walk into his house. Then he will lock the door again by "remembering" that the door is there. Each of these possibilities represent different levels of the spiritual law of Mind Over Matter. Just as the stories in the Torah during this Parasha represents different levels of that same Spiritual Law.

The question is which level do you want to attain? To answer this question one must realize that each of these stories from the Torah and from the Einstein incident represent different levels of chaos. Chaos is the effect in our lives of our own negative actions. Ultimately, the world should not have chaos. It is when we stop doing actions that are selfish (like Korach) then we will remove chaos from the physical world. It (chaos) has no purpose except to teach us how to live properly in all of the worlds - Both spiritual and physical. Are you ready to start learning? Hear the Torah and allow the Hebrew Letters to do their work without your understanding interfering in the natural process designed by Hashem. In other words Let Go and Let God!

There are 13 spaces in this Parasha. 13 is the Number of unity and teaches us about Mind Over Matter which is the cause of unifying the spiritual and physical worlds. This is what we are supposed to do.

There is much to be learned from Names as we teach on our website (www.yeshshem.com). Lets look at the name Korach spelled Koof Resh Chet. Koof and Resh make a word Kar which means cold or frigid. Chet (the third letter) has the Gematria of 8. This is indicating that Korach (the man) represents the 8th level of the cold or negative side. The 8th level is Binah. So Korach (the man) represents the Binah level of the impure system.

The ARI (Rabbi Issac Luria) teaches that Korach is a negative aspect of Hevel (Abel). By refusing to change his nature and follow the suggestions of Moshe, Korach lowered his spiritual level. He became connected to the Soul Root of Cain. This is considered that Korach is a reincarnation of Cain while Moshe is a reincarnation of Abel.

By doing the actions he did he (Korach) was manifesting the desire of the Left column (receiving) to be more important than the right column (sharing). When Moshe caused his death through the attribute of a natural disaster called an earth quake Moshe brought balance back to the world from this spiritual / soul change (Korach's becoming connected to Cain). The ARI explains all of this by the Gematria. Moshe is 345. Korach is 308. Abel is 37. Moshe minus Abel is Korach.

There is something else to learn from the Gematria, that can be applied to our own life. Korach is spelled without a Vav. If he had acheived his Tikune then his name would be complete and spelled with a Vav. This means he was capable of reaching the level of Shadai (a Name of God with a gematria of 314). How is this possible? Lets understand the Name Shadai. Shadai comes from the Hebrew Shoresh meaning sufficient or enough. Remember the song during the Seder on Pesach Dai Dai Daienu. This is the attribute of God that said to the creation Enough. Stop expanding. Shadai put a limitation on the attribute of Loving Kindness (the expansion of the universe). Without this limitation the universe would be out of balance. Korach is necessary in the world. Shadai is necessary in our universe. Our understanding and manifestation of "enough is enough" brings balance into our lives.

In case it was not clear about the complete spelling of Korachs name, read this paragraph. How can Korach achieve this level of Shadai?. His name is spelled without the Vav indicating it is incomplete. When spelled in full Koof Vav Resh Chet. The vav seperates the Cold (Koof and Resh). It also has a Gematria of 314 which is the same as Shadai. Please note that Shadai is the Name of God used on the Mezuzah. The Mezuzah's purpose is to "Remove Death" as is indicated by the permuting of the word Mezuzot (plural of Mezuzah) into 2 Hebrew Words Zaz Mavet. This means remove death.

It is recommended that each Torah Leyner (Reader) stop at Chapter 16 Verse 31 to 34 to allow the congregation to meditate on eliminating natural disasters. In other words we can stop the Iceland Volcano in its tracks. We can stop hurricanes from destroying cities. We can stop earth quakes from hurting people and property.

Know that there is a Midrash about verse 34. The Midrash says that the people who fell into the pit (earthquake) said "God is righteous, His verdict is true, and the words of his servant Moshe are true. We are evil because we rebelled against him". This is how the Aramaic Translation known as Targum Yonasan translates this verse.

All of the above ideas comes to you for one purpose. Realize that natural disasters do not come from God. They are not an "act of God" as the insurance industry tells us. (The insurance industry like Lloyds of London insure against what they call "Acts of God"...Fire, Floods, Earthquakes, etc). These actions are not "Acts of God" but "acts of men".They are the effect of mans negative actions. Our actions, when done as robotic reactions to someone else are considered negative.

When one brings his own consciousness into play, instead of his robotic unconscious, and realizes that he can stop his reactions, than the world will stop having destructive natural disasters. Please help. The more you trust this idea, the more you have certainty that you can have a positive effect - the more effective your meditation will be.

Unfortunately, in most Minyans the reader does not stop to allow the Congregation to meditate. If you are in one of these Minyanim then let the Reader go on while you do the meditation on your own. Consider that you are joining your meditation with the Kabbalistic Minyanim around the world.

Please read the 2 verses from Chapter 17 verses 27 and 28. These verses are translated as:

27. And the children of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying: 'Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone. (Christian Bibles May have this Verse as Chapter 17 Verse 12).

28. Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of the LORD, is to die; shall we wholly perish?' (Christian Bibles May have this Verse as Chapter 17 Verse 13).

They also have spaces before and after these verses.

These verses are expressing our fears about controlling the physical world. Of course these fears are very natural and human. We are not in this world to be human being. We are here in this world to grow into a level above being human. Don't let yourself be fooled by the Satan who sends you these fears. Please grow with us. Please change with us. Please stop these disasters from occurring.
