Week of June 19, 2011 Shabbat Korach, Sivan 23, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha is named Korach. Korach is a Hebrew word that means Frozen. Korach is also the name of a relative of Moshe who wanted power and honor. He argued with Moshe and struggled to change the status quo of Moshe as the leader and Aaron as the High Priest. He failed and in so doing taught us many spiritual lessons starting with the idea of being frozen is being unwilling to change oneself. This lesson is a powerful one. If we are unwilling to change we end up destroying everything we have created in our life. Our wife, our children, our spirritual level, and our possessions. This is what is described in the Parasha. Every week, when we read the Parasha we are receiving a protection shield from the essence of this Parasha. This protection shield lasts for 1 week. Each week also brings a a protection shield that lasts the whole year until the Parasha is read again the next year or reading cycle (Sometimes we read a special Maftir which is sending us that same energy. This is what is meant by reading cycle). Not all of these annual aspects have been revealed by the Sages through their writings. Korach is one that has been revealed. Korach provides a control mechanism for the manifestation over earthquakes and other "natural disasters" like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamiis. Of course one has to have certainty that human beings can control these things. For most people this is not yet their level of consciousness. I hope by making this mechanism known we can cause the level of consciousness to change among people such that we will never manifest another "natural disaster". How does this work? When we read Numbers Chapter 16 Verses 29 to 35, we meditate on removing "natural disasters" from happening the whole year. We also meditate on the following selection of the 72 Names of God: No 3) סיט; No 5) מהש; No 21) נלכ; No 44) ילה; No 46) ערי; No 54) נית; and No 72) מומ. To understand this on a deeper level, let me tell you a true story. I attended the reading of the Parasha of Korach at a Kabbalistic Minyan in the year 5754 or 5753. During the reading the Kabbalist spoke about controling earthquates and the like and made the statement that there would never be another earthquake in California which is where we were physically. At that time there was much speculation about "the big one" that would cause California to fall into the Sea Chas V'Shalom. There were the "prophets Nostradamous and Casey's words being publicised that this was the year. Most of us who heard this thought no more about the fear about California or the unbelievable prognostication that there would be no more earthquakes in California, until the next morning when a 7.0 earthquake hit at approx 7 AM. As soon as phone service was restored the calls came into the Kabbalist. You said "No More Earthquakes". The Kabbalist explained How could you know that there was no more earthquakes unless you had a large earthquake that caused almost no financial damage and no deaths and only some minor injuries. This year there is again speculation about "the big one hitting California". It includes an estimated time for this "big one". What the people repeating this speculation are forgetting is that the Parasha of Korach comes the Shabbat before their estimate of the earthquake manifestation. I hope you will participate in controlling this earthquake and all forms of "Natural Disaster" this year and each year that you listen to the Parasha of Korach. There is another indication of Hashem's mercy in this Parasha. Immediately after the reading about Earthquake we read the midpoint of the Book of Bamidbar in Chapter 17 Verse 20. Whenever we read or connect to midpoints or center point we are connecting to balance. In this case we are able to bring balance into the world through mercy rather than judgment. Many people ask why we are experiencing this "crazy" weather. The answer is simple. We are doing a lot of negative actions that must be cleansed and balanced. Last year during the reading of Korach, the idea of controlling "natural disasters" was not stressed in the Kabbalistic circles and therefore not enough people participated in the meditation (above) that brings about the removal of these "natural disasters". Lets not let that happen this year. Spread the word. Send this section of this email to all of your list serves and social networking sites. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. Torah Readings: The reading of the Parasha is Numbers Chapter 16 Verse 1 to Chapter 18 Verse 32. The total number of Verses is 95. This is צה in Hebrew. This word does not translate easily in Hebrew. In reverse order it means "The Tzadik". Of course this is difficult to understand in discussing Korach the man. His actions were clearly not that of a Tzadik. Yet he was a leader within the Tribe of Levi of the Children of Israel. This Parasha teaches many spiritual laws about how to approach authority if you think that the authority is not correct. In that limited sense Korach is used by the creator to teach these moral values and that makes him a Tzadik for a limited aspect. Don't misunderstand me, Korach was not a Tzadik but some of his actions were Tzadik like. This is what the 95 verses are reminding us. The code word from the Sages is דניאל. This word translates as "My God's judgment". It also is a person's name Daniel. The Book of Daniel teaches us about the end of days and the coming of Mashiach. Korach also does this. We must remove jealousy and Hatred for No Reason in order to manifest Mashiach in our lives. The number of words in the Parasha is 1409 spelled אתט. This word does not translates but it can also have a numberical value of 410 which is the gematria of the word Kadosh (Holy). Korach wanted to be Holy but missed it by 1 step. The step of unity called Love your Neighbor as Yourself! Maftir: The Maftir is Chapter 18 Verses 30 to 32. This is 3 Verses and 1 space. We have spoken about these numbers before. Spaces: There are 13 spaces in the Parasha. 13 is the gematria of the word Echad or oneness. Something Korach never learned and which we have to never forget. These spaces act as a booster to our memories and act as a vaccine against our utilizing the Desire to Receive for Oneself Alone. Haftara: The Haftara is read from Samual Aleph Chapter 11 Verse 14 to Chapter 12 Verse 22. This chapter has 24 Verses and 4 spaces. The surface story is about the appointment of Shaul to be the First King of Israel and Samuel's admonition to the people. This admonition is Samuel telling the people beware of what you ask as you might get it. This is a reminder to us that spiritual people can not do the same things that other people do. Our paths are different. Our paths are to get closer to Hashem as that is what we desire. Written and Spoken Verses: The Parasha has 1 word written and spoken differently. It is a word that gets translated as "protest against". It is in Chapter 16 Verse 11. The difference in the spelling is a Vav in the written form becomes a Yood in the spoken form. The meaning of this is to show us that Hashem is still involved in this mistake that is being made by Korach and the Assembly. The Haftara also has 1 word written and spoken differently. It is Chapter 12 Verse 10. It is the word that means "He said" instead of "He said to him". It includes a Yood in the written form and does not have it in the spoken form. Again this is the issue of people asking for something that is not the best thing for them. Large or Small Letters: There are no large or small letters in the Haftara or the Parasha. Columns: All columns start with a Vav. There are 3 full columns and 2 partial columns in the Parasha. The essence of the Parasha of Korach, according to the Sages, comes from the first word in the Parasha which is "and he took". The Sages ask the question what did Korach take? The answer he took himself and separated himself from the nation. This is the ultimate mistake that leads to separation, strife and disharmony in the Children of Israel. Hearing this Parasha provides for vaccine against creating a separation between you and the children of Israel. Between you and other people. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. As i indicated above, the physical story of the Parasha, is that the people asked for a King like all of the other Nations. What is right with that request? What is wrong with that request? Actually Hashem tells Samuel the Prophet to anoint King Shaul as the first King of Israel. Does this make it a valid and proper request? Actually No, it was wrong to do so, and led the nation to a longer process, just like it does for us when we do not utilize restriction on our desire to receive for oneself alone. Lets discuss this a little more. It is easy to see that the Haftara story is talking about becoming more like the other nations instead of separating ourselves from the other nations. This is the same essence as the Parasha. So why is it important for spiritual people to separate themselves from others? Because the Torah is clear in this Parasha and in other places, You are influenced by the people around you! Eventually you become the people around you. Why? Because you use your senses - physical senses- to evaluate by logic what is ok to do and what is not ok to do. But you have a guide book on life and living called the Torah. This Torah teaches you how to live and not be influenced by the people around you. Only when you study Torah are you capable of being physically close to other people who are not spiritual. The 250 men that were influenced by Korach to rebel against Moshe and Aaron mostly came from the Tribe of Reuben. If we look at which camps were close to each other physically when marching and when resting at each location we see that the Tribe of Reuben was physically close to where the family of Korach pitched their tents. This is just one place the Torah teaches us thing about being influenced by others without explicitly saying this. It is said in the Midrash but not explicitly in the Torah. This comes to teach us about learning from everyone but not learning from everyone harmful paths. The spiritual law of this Parasha is Spiritual People need to separate themselves from non spiritual people and also to study Torah always. Especially if you are a King. And today we are all Kings. Kings of our homes, possessions, and families. When we study Torah of Kings those verses apply to us as heads of our families. Try learning Torah with that in mind. The Torah law is that a King must write two Torot (Torahs) and must keep one of them constantly on his person day and night. A normal person needs to write one Torah and study it a little as long as he is living close to spiritual people. Where are you living? How does this separation vaccine apply in our lives today. Lets look at some modern history. The Jewish state of Israel was founded upon the premises of Zionism which had two conflicting and in my opinion mutually exclusive premises. Zionism wanted a Jewish State just like every other state. Do you see the mistake? Do you see the opportunity to correct the mistake the people made from the time of Samuel the Navi? Do you see why a Jewish State can never be like every other state? The spiritual structure of nations is different for Jewish people living in Israel. They receive their beneficence directly from Hashem. People - Nations living elsewhere receive their beneficence from an intermediary angel. This is the teaching of the Zohar and other Mekubalim. Lets bring this teaching about inclusion and exclusion - unity and separation up to todays life. For the first time since the destruction of the Temples, the Jewish people live almost half in the land and half out of the land. The Mekubalim teach us to look for cause and effect to explain why things happen. What is the cause? Both sets of people have a Tikune. Those who live in the physical land of Israel have the Tikune to live a Torah life even while being influenced by the secular world around them within the Land. Those outside of Israel especially in western countries like the US. The Tikune is to walk away from the material well being in these countries of the west and to choose to live in a spiritual homeland called Israel. This can be both the physical land of Israel or a consciousness called the spiritaul land of Israel. The choice is ours. This was the mistake made by Korach, the people in the time of Samuel and Shaul and many other times through out History. We have not been able to do this. Live a Torah Life while others around us choose secular lives. Yet everyone has free choice. We must learn to recognize the influence of Satan within our lives and the lives of our friends. The purpose of being able to see Satan working is to avoid his infuence. The beginning of this is to study Kabbalah. Have you started your study of Kabbalah? Some people are not clear about when to separate oneself and when to be in unity. Lets be clear. The Halacha says the Children of Israel need to be in unity with no separation, with no hatred for no reason. The Halacha also says the Children of Israel need to separate from the other nations while being a Light unto the other Nations. In essence there is a time to be separated and a time to be in unity. Usually these are different frames of reference. Be in unity with Spiritual People - be separate from non spiritual people but always act as a light onto the person who can learn to follow your spiritual ways. I hope i am clear, with this for all of you. Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S. We are seeking donations to automate the return of Tikune information based on your English Birth Date.
