Week of October 9, 2010 Shabbat Noach, Rosh Chodesh Bet , 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha of Noach is read. It is always read during the month of Mar Cheshvan. Mar means bitter and it is only one of two months that have additional word appellations applied to them. One is Cheshvan which adds bitter and one is Av which adds Menachem which can be either "comfort" or a connection to "leadership". Torah Readings: Genesis Chapter 6 Verse 9 to Chapter 11 Verse 32. There are 153 Verses and the code words are בצלאל and אבי יסכה לוט . Please see last year's email for an explanation of the code words and Spaces in the Parasha of Noach. There are 18 Spaces. Maftir: Chapter 11 Verse 29 to 32. This is 4 Verses with 1 space. Haftara: This year it is Shabbat Rosh Chodesh; Isaiah Chapter 66 plus an additional reading of Verse 23. There are 25 Verses and 4 spaces. The usual Haftarah is as follows: Ashkenazim and Sephardim have different lengths of Haftarot. Ashkenazim is Isaiah Chapter 54 Verse 1 to Chapter 55 Verse 5. Total of 22 Verse with 4 Spaces. Sephardim have 1 Space and read Chapter 54 Verse 1 to 10. The 1 space is after Verse 9 and before Verse 10. Please note that the Haftarah for Parasha Re'eh is Chapter 54 Verse 11 to Chapter 55 Verse 5 which is the difference between the Ashkenazi and Sephardi readings. Please Remember Re'eh means "To See". This year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. As a quick reminder, we read the Haftarah because there is no disappearance in spirituality. Once a spiritual ritual is started it is best not to stop it. During the Roman occupation of Eretz Israel after the destruction of the Second Temple the Romans ordered that Torah not be read on Shabbat. The Sages convinced the Romans that the word Torah only applied to the 5 Books of Moshe and did not apply to the writings of the Neviim (Prophets). Therefore we (the Hebrew Nation) started to read sections of the Neviim Writings similar in energy to the Parasha of the week. Sometimes that energy is easy to relate to the energy of the week and sometimes it is hard to perceive. Let's try each week to understand why did the Sages pick the Parasha (Portions) that we read from the Prophets each Shabbat. This year Shabbat Noach is read on Shabbat Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan. Noach is always read during the month of Cheshvan. This is connected to the Astrological sign Acrav (Scorpio) spelled עקרב . If one looks at the middle 2 letters they spell the Hebrew word for cold (Kar). The other 2 letters are the Ayin Bet (72) relating to the 72 Names of God. The possible Tikune, (influence for everyone) that can take place this month of Cheshvan is revealing the manifestation of the 72 Names of God if we can just remove the coldness from both the month and also our hearts. Then we can transform the Kar (coldness) to its gematria equivalent of the Shin (300) which is the essence of fire that will power these Names. (Gematria explanation: Koof =100; Resh = 200; together = 300 which is = to the Shin. Therefore Kar or coldness can be transformed into the Shin which created Fire; and Fire is a code word for passion and power.) The Haftara read on Rosh Chodesh has 24 Verses and we read an additional Verse No 23 for a total of 25 Verses. 25 is 5 times 5. This is the 5 Worlds within the 5 Worlds. The additional verse is about the Shabbat and New Moons. Many people explain this additional verse as not wanting to end a reading on a negative note. This is just a physical explanation leaving the spiritual explanation to relate to the number of verses. Since the Ashkenazim and the Sephardim read different lengths of the Prophet Isaiah let's see what the Ashkenazim read that the Sephardim do not. Both the Ashkenazim and the Sephardim read Isaiah's prophecy that the Barren One (a code word for Jerusalem) will have more population than the rest of the world. Also, there are prophecies regarding the stretching out of the Land of Israel to accommodate this additional population. According to our Sages this is the answer to the person who asked if everyone is to be resurrected where will they all live? This section of Isaiah's prophecy is clearly talking about the Final Redemption. This relates to the ideas that come from the Midrash and Zohar that Noah was to have been the Mashiach; yet the generation did not warrant his coming yet. In fact there is the Ark that is the protection shield for Noach and his Children. The Zohar tells us that it (the Zohar) is the Ark for our generation. That is why i strongly suggest you receive a daily email from www.dailyzohar.com. This is the beginning of your protection shield. Without it each person will be at the vagaries of their own chaos created by them. With the Zohar we can be protected from ourselves. Returning to the balance of the Haftarah that is read by the Ashkenazim, There is additional positive prophecies and strong suggestions about the Final Ark in the Final Generation which is "studying Torah." Of course this is coded in the words לכו למים . The Verse i am discussing is Chapter 55 Verse 1 which says "Everyone who is thirsty, go to the water, even without money, even buy wine and milk even without money and without price." The Sages teach that this is discussing Torah which has infinite value, and we will not need money to study Torah after Mashiach (or even now at www.yeshshem.com). Let's look at the Code in the Hebew words above. There is an additional Vav in Lechu that is not needed. (Lech spelled לך means go. Lechu would mean "his going." That is why i say the Vav is not needed.) It allows us to see that this phrase means the following: Lamed is teacher ; Caf Vav is Gematria 26 which is HaShem; Lemayim has Gematria 120 which is the 12 Tribes times 10 Sefirot. This allows us to understand How the Sages teach that Water is Torah because this phrase Lechu Lemayim can be seen as "Teach that God is with The Tribes of Israel." Please note that this is also why it is important to study Torah in the original language of Hebrew. To explain this statement understand that any translation is never exactly the same meaning as the origianl language. In the case of the Hebrew Language it has even more levels of meaning (Gematria, Meaning of the Letters that make up the word, different Shoreshim (Roots)). No translation of Hebrew can truly relate all of the nuances that are built into the Hebrew words and sentences within the Torah. Continuing our discussion of the Haftarah, we see also that the difference in this reading, between the Sephardic 10 Verses and the Ashkenazim 22 Verses relates to the Parasha of Re'eh which means "SEE" (See above in the Haftarah section). From this we will be able to see why the Ashkenazim read 22 Verses discussing the Final Ark while the Sephardim read 10 Verses discussing the Final Ark. To understand this more clearly, The original meaning for the word Ashkenazim meant the country and nation of Germany. While the original meaning of Sephardim meant the country and Nation of Spain. Let's look at another level of Torah with respect to the Sephardim. Sephard is spelled ספרד These are the same letters as the famous word Pardes which means Garden. (See below to understand why the word Garden is a code word for Torah.) Pardes is spelled פרדס The reason this word is famous is these 4 letters are acronyms for the 4 levels of Torah. Pey is Pshat; Resh is Remez (hints); Dalet is Drush or Midrash; and Sameck is Sod or Secret.
This teaches that the secret of Sephardim is that they put the Sod or the Kabbalah first. This explains that the Sephardim, by reading only the 10 verses receive their energy of the Ark (protection), while the Ashkenazim need the additional connection to the 22 Letters of the Hebrew Aleph Bet and the Torah. This comes from the 22 Verses read by the Ashkenaizim which relate to the 22 Letters of the Aleph Bet. The Ashkenazim need the additional reading to be able to "See" that the energy of the Ark is protection for them. Now one can understand why the Halacha says that an Ashkenazi person can start to pray as a Sephardi while a Sephardi may not change to pray as a Ashkenazi. That is why i tell people i use to be Ashkenazi and now am Sephardi. Now let's look at the story of the Tower of Babel. It occurs as the 7th Aliyah (Chapter 11 Verse 1 to 9). The question occurs why did HaShem confuse the language rather than another method of stopping them like a natural disaster or a war? The answer is in the phrase One language spelled אחת שפה . The Gematria is 409 + 385 = 794. The phrase Loshon Kodesh לשון קודש has the same Gematria with a Colel for each word. This teaches us that the Language that was spoken then was Hebrew known the world over as the Holy Language. By HaShem confusing the language he caused disunity among this group of people. The Midrash teaches us that the thing they were doing incorrectly was that, while they were in unity, they wanted to manifest their desire to receive for one self alone. HaShem confused the languages so that they would not succeed. By struggling to communicate with each other we will learn to appreciate other people and cause our own selfish desires to change to a desire to share. Just look at people who struggle to communicate using the same language. Then we can appreciate how much more difficult it is to communicate using different languages. Eventually everyone will speak Loshon HaKodesh again. By the way Loshon HaKodesh is not modern Hebrew as spoken in Israel today. That is a dialect (another of the languages) that come from Man not HaShem. Loshon HaKodesh is the language that is "spoken" in the upper worlds. It is the language created by HaShem. Let's look at the word Shinar, which is the location of the Tower of Babel. The word Shinar is spelled שנער . The last 2 letters spell the word Evil (Ra in Hebrew). The first 2 Letters are a contraction of the word Hate spelled שנא . Why do you think that the Tower of Babel is in the valley of Shinar? Finally let's realize what all of this information is teaching us about the Parasha Noach and the energy of the week. Parasha Noach is about protection from the coldness (spiritually )of the month of Mar Cheshvan. Mar means bitter. It is spelled מר when the letters are reversed it means elevated רם. The question facing us during this month of Mar Cheshvan is how do i turn Mar (bitterness) into Ram (elevation) during this month? How do i maintain my equilibrium in this month of destruction? The Flood of Noach started on the 17th Day of Cheshvan. A flood represents too much water or Chesed (Loving Kindness). We must utilize our tools during this upcoming week and month. The tools of the Ana Bekoach; The 72 names; and Restriction. Write these 3 tools down, as a reminder, that the way to transform Mar to Ram is with these tools! Another midrash about the Flood: The Flood was to start on the 15th day of Cheshvan which is the full moon (The complete sharing of the energy that is Cheshvan). HaShem delayed the start to the 17th day (17 is the Gematria of Tov or good) in honor of the "sitting Shiva for Metusalach who died on the 11th day of Cheshvan. Metushalach lived 969 years out of this 1000 allotted years. Why not all 1000. The difference of 31 (which is the Gematria of the Name of God in Keter (אל or (k) EL) teaches us about that our connection to HaShem will lengthen our lives as well. Also, there is only one verse in the Tanach that has a Gematria of 969. It is verse from Tehillim (Psalms) Chapter 145 Verse 9. Here it is: טוב-יהוה לכל ורחמיו על-כל-מעשיו The LORD is good to all; and His tender mercies (Loving Kindness) is/are over all His works. The Gematria of the first letter and the last letter of this verse (which represent the energy of the verse) is 49. 49 represents a duality of the 49 Gates of Negativity or Positivity. Just as the Acrav/Cheshvan represents the duality of the Coldness of the Flood and the potential passion of the 72 Names of God. I will let you decide what are the other messages for all of us from this verse . Good Luck! Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
