Week of April 5, 2009 Shabbat Pesach Chol Hamoed,Nissan 17, 5769 | |
---|---|
This week it appears that we leave the order of the Parashiot. We go back to Parasha Ki Tisa and read only a small part of it. Only 36 verses. They are powerful verses and they include 3 unusual items in the Scroll. 1) a large Nun; 2) One of the 6 columns that don't start with a Vav; and 3) A large Resh. We spoke of these items in the portion of Ki Tisa and i suggest you return to read that email again. Know that there is a spritual law that Less is More. The smaller the number of verses the more condensed is the energy. Included in this Reading are the 13 Attributes of Mercy as taught to Moshe by HaShem. Know also that this is not the least number of verses read on a Shabbat during a leap year, but it will be the least number of verses read this year. The codewords from the SAGES are concealed for this reading but we can reach into our expanded consciousness and know that 36 or Lamed Vav represents 2 times 18 (Chai - Life). It also can be read as "His Teacher" or "His Study". To truly understand this we must understand the Holiday of Pesach. Pesach is spelled Pey (both a letter and a word that means Mouth), Sameck, Chet. The gematria of Sameck Chet is 68. The same Gematria as the word Chaim which means Life. So in addition to the simple understanding of Pesach meaning pass over (as in HaShem passing over the Israelites on the night of the First Pesach) we can also understand that this Holiday brings us the energy of "a Living Mouth or a Mouth of Life". But i thought that Passover is about Freedom. You are right Passover is about Freedom - Freeing yourself from your desire to receive for your self alone. How is that acheived? By spiritual work. The Holiday is coming Wednesday night, and Thursday night in the Diaspora while only Wednesday night in Israel. Why is that? On the physical level it is attributed to the Sanhedrin Court in the Temple actually defining when the New Moon occured and therefore establishing the days of the Holidays. (FYI, there are still Jews who follow this method. They have declared the Holiday to start the night of April 10 not April 8).Since the communications in Temple times were not as efficient as the methods we use today (Is that true?) Jews in the Diaspora celebrated the Chagim (Holidays) for two days to make sure they did it on the correct day. The spiritual reason is much different. Israel is the energy center of the World. The light of God is first brought into the Land of Israel and then shared with the rest of the world. The energy in the Land of Israel is more intense. People who live in the Land have a larger vessel with the ability to fullfill their vessel more efficiently. People outside the Land live in a world of greater darkness. They need the extra day to receive the light that they will need so HaShem through his channels the SAGES taught us to keep two days in the Diaspora. Returning to the Holiday of Pesach. Remember the Teaching "Do not believe any thing i tell you; Please try the rituals and techniques i teach to see that they work for you. This is how you will come to know the truth of these techniques. The Seder (which is Hebrew for Order) consists of 15 steps. By following the Order of the Seder one brings ones desire to receive for oneself alone under control. This allows the desire to receive in order to share to expand. The result of this is to bring greater peace and serenity into our lives. The seder is not a family dinner. In fact the greatest arguments take place at family Sedar's. This is due to the fact that people do this as a tradition and do not connect with the essence of Why we do Seders. I hope the following will help you all to a greater connection to the light of HaShem that is available only on the nights of the Seder. Another Metaphor to explain Pesach is the following: The Light of Pesach is the same Light that is revealed on the night of Shavuot. The revelation of the Torah at Mr. Sinai. While in Egypt the Jewish People reached the 49th Gate of Tumah (impurity). If we continued our spiritual fall and reached the 50th gate of Tumah we could not have recovered and the effect would have caused the destruction of the world. Therefore HaShem decided to Harden our Hearts. Does this phrase sound familiar? The Hardening of our Hearts is a codeword that brings us back to a level where we again have free choice. Each time we veil ourselves from the Light of God we no longer have Good and Evil exactly matched which gives us the illusion of Free Choice. Therefore we tend to follow what direction we have chosen before. A Mitzvah brings a Mitzvah! A Avayrah (disconnection or sin) brings an Avayrah. During this process of the 10 Plagues culminating in the Night of Pesach the Jews were brought to the level of Free Choice. This was not earned! This was and is FREE LUNCH (or SEDER). We did not earn it the night of the First Seder and we do not earn it this night of Pesach in 5769. Enjoy this Energy of Mercy from God - there is no cost except to follow the Seder steps as outlined by the SAGES. The more of these steps you do and prepare for the more you recieve for FREE. Now comes the Earning it. Because the Light that was there the First Night and to some extent the second night goes away again promising to return in 50 days on the Night of Shavuot. Thats right the Light on Pesach is the same Light of Revelation that appears on Shavuot. What happens between Pesach - Light for Free and Shavuot Light that is earned. The counting of the Omer takes place. The Mekubalim give us a ritual for each day of the 49 days between Pesach and Shavuot. During these days Orthodox Rabbi's will not Marry anyone. The Mekubalim reccommend that one not cut their hair and it is also reccommend that people not start anything new; start a new business; move to a new residence; sign a major business deal ; and other NEW THINGS. The days of the Omer is a step by step spiritual growth through cleansing of 49 Sepherot. the Seven lower Spherot with in the Seven lower Sepherot. The ritual is as follows: 1. Say LeShem Yichud to prepare your consciousness - any Sephardic Siddur will have this for the Omer. 2. Say a Bracha and count the day 3 ways - day 1 day 2 day 3 etc.; Day 1 of Week 1; Day 2 of Week 1; Day 3 of week 1 etc. the second week count as Day of of Week 2 etc. The third way is to count it as Sephirot. Day 1 is Chesed within Chesed; Day to is Gevurah within Chesed; Tiferet within Chesed etc. Day 8 is Day 1 of Week 2 which is Chesed within Gevurah and so forth. 3. Say Psalm 67 which has 7 verses after the first introductory verse. These seven verses have 49 words. the fourth verse has 49 letters so you use the word and letter of the fourth verse to draw the light of cleansing to that level of Spherot that is being cleansed on that day. 4. Say the Ana Bekoach which has 6 words in each of 7 verses; use the Letters themselves at the end of each verse to be the Malchut or 7th word for that week. It seems confusing but if you find a Kabbalistic Minyan they will assist you in knowing how to count the Omer. If you need i will have a downloadable mp3 file showing how to do this before the start of the Holiday. Enjoy the reading! Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
