Week of February 14, 2010 Shabbat Terumah 6 Adar, 5770 | |
---|---|
The Name of the Parasha is Terumah. Before discussing this Parasha, lets discuss another topic. Sunday of the next week or Motzei Shabbat is Zion Adar - the birthday and the Hilulah of Moshe Rabeainu. Please schedule some extra time on Motzei Shabbat to connect to the energy essence of Moshe Rabeinu. How do i do that you ask? Please review my general discussion about Hilulot or death anniversaries of Tzadikim on our blog at this Hilula Link. For Moshe Rebeinu the study includes reading any aspect of the Chumash but especially any part of Devarim - Deuteronomy. It also includes the Zohar sections titled Raya Mehemna (Faithful Shepherd). These sections are Moshe Rebeinu teaching Rabbi Shimon and are especially relevant to the energy of Zion Adar. Also a Kosher "Book of Chanoch". This is because Chanoch became Metratron (do not pronounce this name) and Metratron is the higher soul of Moshe Rabeinu. There are 9 spaces in this Parasha. In the frame of returning light (The cause is an action in the physical that causes the light to flow from the spiritual to the physical) 9 represents Chochma or wisdom. In the frame of Direct Light (The cause is spiritual bringing light to the physical) 9 represents Yesod which is the channel to Malchut. On the physical story level, this Parasha deals with the Mishcan spelled Mem Shin Caf Nun Sofit. When one "looks into the Name MishCan" one can see some very revealing secrets. Mishcan is usually translated as Tabernacle or Sanctuary. The Kings Shlomo and David (did some of the preparation) built the Temple following this pattern that is revealed in this Parasha. See Kings 2 for confirmation about this. There are 2 possible Shoreshim (roots) for this Name. One is Shin Caf Nun Sofit which gets translated as a verb to house, to lodge, to settle, and the like. This is usually the way it is understood. There is another possible Shoresh which is Mem Shin Caf Sofit. This root is translated as to draw, to drag out, to prolong, and to pull. It is this root that helps us understand the discussions among the Sages about the question: Was the Mishcan supposed to be built or was it built only as a cure for the Sin of the Golden Calf. This Parasha is out of chronological order. The building of the Mishkan happened after the Sin of the Golden Calf but it appears before it, in the Torah. This teaches and confirms the adage that HaShem provides the cure before the disease. The disease of the Children of Israel even up to today is the desire to receive for oneself alone which manifests in our Golden Calfs. The cure is the Mishkan. By listening to the Torah reading this week we receive the vaccine against prolonging our own personal process of tikune/correction. Please do not miss the reading this week and next as they are both related to this vaccine ( to not drag out our process). The story in this Parasha sounds like a vocal description of a set of blue prints. The question we need to ask is why do i care if there are 50 sockets or 11 curtains or that the table is 5 cubits square? How does that impact my life today? Please know that each number given in this Parasha is a metaphor for a spiritual law which also manifests in our physical world, natural law, and science. Even if we do not have the wisdom today to connect these numbers to natural law or science does not mean that there is not a connection. Here are some clues or hints to help you make these connections. 50 relates to the fifty gates of Binah or understanding. 11 relates to the inclusion of the negative system within the Tree of Life. 5 represents all of the worlds both spiritual and physical. Let us return to the question, Did the Mishcan need to be built if we do not build our golden calves? This is up to you to answer for yourself. It is possible to complete ones Tikune in 1 lifetime; Most of us take much longer because we build golden calves. Then we need a Mishcan. Otherwise we do not. Do we need a physical Mishcan? Again that is up to you. The Sages explain the Prophecies about the 3rd Temple as indicating that their will be animal sacrifices and the need for the phsyical 3rd Temple. Other Sages teach that it is a metaphor for the essence. Which do you prefer? A shorter process that is internal or a lenghtier process that is external and includes the phsyical Temple being built. Kabbalah teaches that consciousness controls. Where is your consciousness? Are you seeing yourself in the mirror (one view of the world is to see yourself as the cause of everything that happens to you. In this view the people who come into your life at whatever involvement are there for you to be able to "see" yourself. This means when you "see" other people doing something, it is a picture of your Midot (traits) for you. In essence the person in your life is a mirror so you can see yourself more clearly) of your friends and family or are you still seeing your friends and family as the cause of your troubles (Has V'Shalom). Accepting your responsibility for where you are in your life is the first step in building the place in your heart for HaShem to reside. This is the only Mishcan that is necessary. . . unless you want it the other way! Please look at Chapter 26 verse 28. The translation can be "The middle bar inside the planks shall extend fom end to end". There are 9 words in this verse just as their are 9 spaces in the Parasha. There are 37 letters in this verse. 37 is number relating to concealedment and also to the upper worlds. Another translation more in tune with the Hebrew is "And the Design of the Mainstay in the middle of the Planks is to flee from end to end".When reviewed with the information provided by the number of words and letters, one can say that this verse is teaching a spiritual truth relating to a process. The spiritual truth is "always remain in balance. Always enjoy the process". Can you say that you enjoy the unhappy moments in your life exactly the same as you enjoy the happy moments of your life? Most of us can not. A Tzadik does. Why! Because he has internalized the truth that everything comes from his actions. He accepts his responsibility in all that happens to him... not just the enjoyable times but all that happens to him comes from the "Boomerang Law of cause and effect". This spiritual law says that what ever one's actions come back to him/her. Good actions come back Good, Bad actions come back Bad. Of course this is after the Upper courts review his actions and determine how much space (time) someone has for doing Tshuvah so that a negative decree does not have to impact him.
