Week of March 13, 2011 Shabbat Zachor and Tzav,13 Adar Bet 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha of Tzav צו is read. Also the Shabbat is known as Shabbat Zachor which means Shabbat of Rememberance. It is also the only Shabbat that the Halacha (Suggested path to follow; usually translated as law) declares that each man, women, and child must hear the Torah Reading on Shabbat Zachor! Of course there are many questions that relate to the above statements, so lets start asking and answering them. Due to the timing of when these emails are sent i will also be discussing the Holiday of Purim. I am presently giving a series of classes explaining the Holiday of Purim, the first 13 days of Nissan, The Holiday of Pesach, The counting of the Omer, The Holiday of the 7th day of Pesach, The Holidays of Iyar, and the Holiday of Shavuot or Pentecost (The Giving (Revelation) of the Torah). I strongly suggest that you listen to these classes which are on Sunday mornings at 10 AM and can be viewed on video conferencing with prior reservation and by conference call at 213-289-0500 with the code 911904#. You must agree to be recorded by pressing 1 as well. Tzav means "Command". This word is used only 7 times in the Chumash (5 books of Moshe). In all 7 times it is used it is substituting for the word Speak, which is the word usually used in these type of phrases. On its surface level Tzav implies a stronger level of suggestion or connection. The Zohar says Tzav means idol worship. And therefore we can teach that every time Tzav is used it implies a connection to idol worship. Most religious people (of all religions) consider this Blasphemous because many of them consider it a high level of connection to do a Mitzvah (which may have a shoresh (root) from the word Tzav) because God commands it. So how do we reconcile all of this? One way to reconcile this is to look at the word Tzav in the shoresh (root usage). It is spelled צוה. As such the Gematria is 101 which relates to a level of mercy as in the name Michael (the Angel Michael) which is a channel for this energy. This word is used 111 times in the Chumash. As we have learned 111 is the gematria of the word/letter Aleph. The energy of the Aleph is unity. So the idea of command is to unify all things in subservience to the Creator Hashem and nothing else. Another way to reconcile the above to realize that connection to HaShem is like a ladder and there are 10 large steps on this ladder; and many steps within each of large steps on this ladder. One of the ways to climb a step is doing a Mitzvah because "God Commands Me to do it". A higher step is to realize that when i do anything because someone else (even Hashem) commands me then i become an effect of that someone else. Finally the best way to reconcile the above is to learn a truly valid physical law. When the Torah says Tzav spelled צו it is referring to some aspect of idol worship. When the Torah says Tzav spelled צוה it has the meaning of command. Yet never forget that if you are doing something because someone else commands it, you are being an effect and not doing your spiritual work. You may be sharing, but without using the tool of restriction to transform from an effect to being a cause you are not doing your spiritual work. You are being someone else's effect! Please learn this well. We did not come to this physical world to be an effect. We came to be a cause, as in the phrase cause and effect. A cause is the code word meaning a co-creator with Hashem. Please reread the above! Learn the above well! So well that it becomes part of your nature to always be a cause and never an effect! When one reacts one is an effect of whatever caused the reaction. To change this one must stop one's reaction. This is the beginning of a tool called restriction. This tool of restriction is a tool to remove chaos. STOP REACTING! Shabbat Zachor is always read on the Shabbat before Purim! Why? The Torah reading on Shabbat Zachor includes the reading of the war against Amalek. Purim is about the war against Amalek. If you do not hear this reading you can not "see" HaShem in the historical story of Purim. Why not? Because in the Megillah (Scroll) Esther the name Hashem does not appear. The Tetragramaton is not there. This gives people the opportunity to learn many spiritual lessons. 1) That the nation must save itself! (of course, this is only partially true) Hashem will save the nation because he has promised to do so through his Prophets as well as the Chumash itself. (Please remember the nation will be saved but the question is "will you personally be saved from the chaos called the "Birthpangs of Mashiach"?) 2)Hashem is always concealed in the physical world and in the workings of the patterns and cycles of history! (Can you see the Hand of Hashem in the patterns of history?) Where was HaShem in the Shoah? Do you see him? 3)Do you see the difference in the words King Achevarosh and Hamelech (The King)? Tune into the classes to understand this answer more clearly. There are two additional pieces of information to begin to understand this reading of Zachor. The word Megillah which means Scroll comes from the root that means Revealed; while the name Esther comes from the root that means Concealed. When we read the Megillah Esther we are reading the Revelation of the Concealed! The other piece of information answers the question why does Hashem fight a war with Amalek through out the generations. The name Amalek has a gematria of 240 which is the same gematria of the word Safek in Hebrew. Safek means doubt! The nation of Amalek represents, at its essence, "doubt" which is the opposite of the essence of Hashem which is certainty. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. To understand more fully the information included below it is necessary for me to give you the essence out of the blue with no preparation. It will be shocking and not believable or acceptable. Please read all of the information to begin your process to the level of consciousness called "Mind Over Matter" or "MOM". "MOM" is the essence of this Parasha along with the concept of Oleh which is translated Burnt offeing. Actually Oleh is a noun that comes from the Root that means elevated. So in essence this Parasha is teaching us to elevate our left column (which is the side of desire) through utilizing our highest consciousness which we call "MOM". This seems like a paradox but it is not. We transform our desire to receive for oneself alone into the desire to receive in order to share. This elevates our desire which is the left column of the tree of life. Then we can utilize aspects of sharing to manifest Mind Over Matter. Even when we can not see that manifest in the physical world yet. We still utilize an aspect of Mind over Matter consiousness when we transform our desire to receive. In order to see "MOM" manifest in our lives it is necessary to elevate to a certain number of levels. But we still use the consciousness even when we don't realize it. Torah Readings: Vayikra - Leviticus Chapter 6 Verse 1 to Chapter 8 Verse 36. There are 96 Verses which, by gematria, is the word Tzav צו. Please read above for the meaning of Tzav. The code word is the same as the name of the Parasha Tzav. This only happens in this 1 Parasha which indicates how unique this Parasha is? There are 1353 אשנג words in the Parasha. This word has no meaning in Hebrew until it is permutated. Then the word נגש means "to approach", "to subjugate", "to be offered". One can see from these different meanings the essence of the Parasha as to be unified by offering to subjugate myself to Hashem so that i can approach Hashem. Maftir: Deuteronomy Chapter 25 Verses 17 to 19. There are 3 verses and 1 space. Spaces: There are 8 spaces in the Parasha. 8 is a number representing the consiousness of rising above the physical. This is because it is 1 more than 7 which is number representing the physical world. This is the level of consciousness we must reach to attain "MOM". Haftara: Sephardim and Ashkenazim read almost the same Haftar. The difference is one verse. The Ashkenazim read Samual Aleph Chapter 15 Verses 2 to 34. This is 33 verses. Theis number relates to the the semi-holiday of Lag B'Omer. It actually represents the concept of "manifestation of potential". Please see my discussion of Lag B'omer in other emails. The Sefardim read 1 additional verse - they read Verse 1 of Chapter 15 also. This makes 34 verses which represents the revelation of that which is concealed. Written and Spoken Verses: There is no words written one way and spoken another way in the Parasha. There is one word written one way and spoken another in the Haftara. It is in Chapter 15 Verse 16. The word is written ויאמרו and is spoken ויאמר. The spoken word means "and he spoke". The written word means and he spoke his (words). The change teaches an amazing spiritual lesson that we all need to remember and bring into our lives ALWAYS. The lesson is that the words we say to others are really being said to ourselves! Let me repeat this to strengthen the message. When we speak to a person - the words that come out of our mouth - that we think we are saying to the other person as admonishment or criticism or praise, these words are meant for us to hear and take into our lives as truth about ourselves. Please reread this! Please learn it! Please act upon it as truth. Know that when you say words of admonishment or praise to someone, you must first cleanse yourself of this same character or personality trait. Why do we have to cleanse ourselves when we are talking about praiseworthy items? So our ego does not get too large by listening to these words we are saying to ourselves. The above is truly an important tool to take into your life. After you have spoken to a friend on any subject. Review your words and apply them to yourself. This will enable you to grow substantially on a spiritual level and also allow you to manifest that growth on the physical level as well. Try it! Dots: There are no Dots over any letters in this Parasha or Haftara. Large or Small Letters: There is no small or large letters in the Haftara. In the Parasha, there is a small Mem in the word Mokdah spelled מוקדה. This word translates as burned or flame. It can have two different shoreshim (roots) which helps us to understand this meaning. The root מקד means to focus. While the usage of this word in this verse is appropriately translated as burned, the idea of "to focus" helps us understand the reason behind the small Mem. The internal essence of the letter Mem is Sharing. This is due to its being a MOTHER letter in the Hebrew Aleph Bet. It is the letter that is connecting Chochma to Binah on the Tree of Life. This letter being small reminds us to bring our spiritual knoweledge and lessons into our life in the physical world as well. Many spiritual people going "flying" when they hear about a spiritual law, lesson, or truth. Yet they forget to bring this lesson "down to earth" and use it in their life. There is no spirital truth that does not apply as a lesson in our life! This is especially true in dealing with the lessons of certainty and using them to overcome our doubts, as we will see during the Holiday of Purim. Columns: All columns start with a Vav. There are 3 full columns and 2 partial columns. There is one additional unique event in this reading. When the reader finishes reading Chapter 8 Verse 7, we have reached the middle of the Torah Scroll in the number of verses. This gives us the opportunity to connect to the Central Column. The Center Column of the Tree of Life represents Balance. This gives us the opportunity to connect to balance during the reading as well as in our personal lives. Take this opportunity as we all need additional balance in our lives to cope with the elements of doubt that arise in our minds. These elements are to be burned as we will discuss below. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. It is easy to see the physical connection to the Maftir and the Haftara. They both are about the nation of Amalek and the relationship of this nation to the Children of Israel. The relationship of the Haftara to the Parasha is a little harder to see. The essence of Amalek is discussed above. It is doubt. The Parasha is about the burnt offering. It is actually about elevating ourselves through the sacrifice called Oleh. What is this sacrifice? What is this offering? It is the thoughts that we receive from the negative side. These thoughts are to be burned away by the passion that we feel to get closer to HaShem. Do you feel this passion? Most people don't. They do not feel the passion of the Children of Israel expressed in the Haftara for the animals and possessions of the nation of Amalek. They could not bring themselves to kill these animals even when God tells them to do so, using the channel of his Prophet Samual. This is still true today. God is telling us through this Haftara reading and through this Parasha reading to burn the possession of the Amalekis (which are our negative thoughts - thoughts that show the desire to receive for oneself alone) and elevate ourselves to the level of consciousness called "MOM". Are you ready to achieve this level? Do you want to manifest the essence of health in your life, through "MOM"? Do you want to manifest the power of wealth through "MOM"? Do you want to manifest your soul mate into your relationships (improve your relationship or meet someone if appropriate to your life situation) through "MOM"? Do you understand what i am trying to say to you? Read below! The second verse in the Parasha is the following: צו את-אהרן ואת-בניו לאמר זאת תורת העלה הוא העלה על מוקדה על- המזבח כל-הלילה עד-הבקר ואש המזבח תוקד בו (6:2) Command Aaron and his sons, saying: This is the law of the burnt-offering: it is that which goeth up on its firewood upon the altar all night unto the morning; and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning thereby. (Christian Bibles may have this Verse as Chapter 6 Verse 9). I have bolded and made a larger font the section of this verse that needs to be understood more fully. The translation of the word Torat as law is not completely correct. The midrash teaches that the Torat or law is the reading of the Torah on Shabbat morning. We truly need to understand why the Torah uses the word Torat and not another word like Mishat or Chok which also means law? It is from this understanding that we learn the most important ritual of Shabbat is to hear the Torah reading on Shabbat. Why is that the most important thing? Why is this "boring " reading that i do not understand more important than the songs i sing on Friday night that make we feel so great and unified with my brothers and sisters in the synagogue and at the Friday night meals? The answer is the fact that this "boring" reading is transferring to you your metaphysical protection shield for the energy of the universe for this next week. Do not miss the Torah reading because it is the Torat Oleh. it is the elevation of your soul that is your actual protection shield. Of course we do not sense this all of the time and that is why some people call it "boring". How wrong they are! The first manifestation of the thought of creation is the Torah. This is due to the fact that the Torah is the blue print of creation. The "Torat of the Oleh (burnt offering)" is to hear the Torah reading on Shabbat. Remember, the Torah is the blue print of creation and the Oleh, the ability to get closer to the creator, is built into the plan and blue print of creation.which is the path to get closer to the Creator). Therefore it is the spiritual law. To get closer to the creator one must hear the Torah reading on Shabbat. Why does this work? Why is this built into the plan of creation? Because, when we hear the Torah we develop a passion to get closer to the Creator. Each human being has a desire (weather they realize it or it is covered and concealed by the negative system) TO GET CLOSER TO THE CREATOR. Your soul knows it even if you do not! Make it your business to hear the Torah on Shabbat morning even if it is your voice reading from a Chumash or your eyes scanning the Text of a Chumash. Doing this will build the connection to CERTAINTY, a tool that is necessary to achieve your life fulfillment. This passion and connection to Certainty, the essence of Hashem, allows us to discern when a thought comes from our desire to receive for oneself alone and thus will cause us to manifest chaos in our life and when the thought is coming from the desire to receive in order to share which will manifest Hashem's goodness in our lives. How does one manifest certainty in our lives? How does one manifest the elimination of doubts in our lives? How does one manifest "MOM" in our lives? It starts with one little step up the ladder! START to LEARN KABBALAH! There is another path to acheive this. It is the path of pain and suffering which i for one wish to avoid. What is the proof of this statement? There are many people in this generation who show psychic abilities in their lives. Yet each of them is shown pain and suffering by the society when they demonstrate these abilities. When a child shows psychic abilities, in most families they are scolded (pain and suffering) or told not to. The society constantly tells them this is not normal. You can not see something or hear something that i don't see. This is the problem that causes these people pain and suffering. Sometimes in a few cases they become famous and wealthy from this ability. Most of them loose this ability due to the pressures of the society. The learning of how to use these abilities is taught in Kabbalah. The purpose of these abilities is taught in Kabbalah. When will you start to learn Kabbalah? When will you learn how to manifest your psychic abilities in your life? An ability that is directly related to your level of spiritual consciousness. Of course one must be careful in using these tools because there are entities that are given permission to harm psychic people as well as entities that are given permission to help psychic people. Kabbalah teaches you how to recognize which is which on the spiritual level. Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
