Week of November 7, 2010 Shabbat Vayeitzei 6th Kislev, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha of Vayeitzei is read. It is always read at the beginning of the month of Kislev as it has to do with the energy of miracles. On the physical level, it also has to do with going out of Israel which can be a code word for your comfort zone. Kislev is the month of Miracles. To merit a Miracle one must go out of one's comfort zone. It is only through breaking our self made barriers do we merit the universe allowing the manifestation of breaking the Natural Laws that prevent the manifestation of miracles in the physical world. This week strive to break your self imposed barriers! Use the tools of Kabbalah to accomplish this. Start with the Zohar, The Ana Bekoach, 72 Names of HaShem, 72 Names from the Tzadikim, The Book of Adam, and Torah Study to accomplish this! Torah Readings: Genesis Chapter 28 Verse 10 to Chapter 32 Verse 3. There are 148 Verses and the code words are חלקי and מחנים. I am pasting comments from last years email to help understand these code words. Here is what i said last year: By Hearing this reading of 148 verses, we have the potential to take control of our lives in our world with both miracles and natural order. All we need is the consciousness that the statement you just read is absolute truth! This is confirmed by the following relationships established by the Gematria of 148. In Hebrew the gematria is expessed as קמח and also פסח which spells Pesach. 1. Pesach spelled Pey Samek Chet which translates as both the Holiday of Freedom and the phrase skipping over. 2. Netsach spelled Noon Tzadi Chet which is one of the 10 Spherot translated as eternal victory. 3. Benai Elohim which is translated as "children of God" and is also a level of consciousness that we can attain when we learn to control the physical world. One final discussion, the last word in this Parasha is Mahanaim and is the name given by Jacob to the place where Lavan and he settled their conflicts. The Gematria of this word is 148 and is usually translated "camp". By permutations it can be seen as "from the Hidden Wisdom of the Torah". This confirms the spiritual teaching that when someone goes outside (first word of the portion is Vayeitzei- English is "going out") of their comfort zone (working on themsleves) they receive the Hidden Wisdom of the Torah. There is only 1 Space in the Parasha and that comes only at the end, after the last word. Please see the last two years email for an explanation of the code words and Spaces in the Parasha. Maftir: Chapter 32 Verse 1 to 3. This is 3 Verses with 1 space. Haftara: Sephardim: Hosea Chapter 11 Verse 7 to Chapter 12 Verse 2. This is 7 Verses and 1 Spaces. Some Sephardic communities end at Chapter 13 Verse 5 reading a total of 25 Verses with still only 1 space. Askenazim: Hosea Chapter 12 Verse 13 to Chapter 14 Verse 10. This is 28 Verses with 3 spaces. There are no places where the word is pronounced differently than it is written. Dots: There are no Dots in this Parasha. Large or Small Letters: There are no large or small letters in either reading. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. Again, this week the choice by the Sages of this Haftara is difficult to relate to the Parasha. To understand the relationship of the Haftara to the Parasha it is necessary to understand some History of Hosea the Prophet. He made his prophecies during the same period as the Prophet Isaiah. Actually he started his "career" as a Prophet earlier than Isaiah so he should have been written in the Tanach earlier. Yet he is considered one of the later Prophets and is put with the other later prophets out of concern that his prophecies might be lost due to the fact they are not very long and when written alone on a separate scroll, that scroll might be lost to History and the People. It is important to understand about the Book of Prophets. There were many more (on the order of millions) than these 55 Prophets (48 Male and 7 Female Prophets). These additional Prophets Prophecized to their generation only. These 55 Prophets who are written into the Book of Prophets Prophecized to their generation and also to every other generation through out history. That is why they (the 55 Prophets) are canonized and the others are not. This helps us understand why he is put into the category of Later Prophets when he clearly was not a Later Prophet. Also what makes it difficult is the Chapter and Verse nomemclature created by the Church which is what we use today. We use the Church developed Chapter and Verse nomenclature because it is easier than the 670 spaces written into the Torah Scroll. (As an aside the number 670 represents 67 times 10. This is Binah (gematria 67) completed by 10 Sepherot within Binah.) What makes the difficulty is that according to Jewish tradition the Prophecy starts at Chapter 10 Verse 9 and concludes at Chapter 13 Verse 11. This means that none of the Haftara Readings on this Shabbat (Ashkenazim or Sephardim) are the complete Prophecy. Trying to understand a Prophecy in the context of the generation it is given is made even more difficult when we are only looking at part of that Prophecy. When we look at the Pophecies of Hosea, He is generally speaking to the Northern Kingdom known as Israel or in the nomemclature of the Prophets as Efraim. The birth of Efraim was not even mentioned in the Parasha. The closest we get to Efraim is understanding that Joseph is the father of Efraim. The Birth of Joseph is mentioned in the Parasha. So clearly these choices by the sages must be related to the essence or energy of the Parasha. Since neither the Sephardim or the Ashkenazim read the whole Prophecy (as taught above), we must look elsewhere to understand the connection. One essence is the answer to the question why the Ashkenazim and Sephardim use the same Prophecy but different parts? There are 2 Kingdoms, as there are 2 parts of the Nation. This correspondence explains why the Ashkenazim and Sephardim read two different parts. Another connection between the Haftara and the Parasha comes from the idea of Tshuva in the Haftara (for which theme Hoshea is known). What is the area of Tshuva relating to? It relates to the Hatred between Joseph and the 10 Brothers. This idea that the brothers can hate brothers started with Kain killing Abel. The 11 Brothers are reincarnations of Kain and Abel. This Parasha has the birth of all 11 brothers. Therefore according to Kabbalah it is the Keter or Seed level of the consciousness that creates the destruction of the Temple. The Talmud and Zohar teach that the reason for the Temple being destroyed and also the reason why it is not yet rebuilt is Sinat Hinam or Hatred for no reason! This Parasha is the Seed level or beginning consciousness of this horrible character trait. We can utilize this Reading to look within ourselves and learn in what ways we still contribute to the destruction of the Temple by Hatred for No Reason! Lets turn out attention to the Parasha. In addition to the stories of the birth and naming of the Tribes, we have the story of the Famous Dream of the Ladder by Jacob and the payment by Lavan to Jacob of the spotted and discolored animals, as well as the treaty between Lavan and Jacob. There are also many sub stories within these major stories like the story of Reuven giving His Mother Leah Duodim a flower that brings fertility. Leah actually gives the flowers to Rachel, and this is the night that Joseph is conceived. There is one aspect that is written in the Parasha but is not clearly understood. I will not prove these words to you but you will prove them to yourself as you experience using the tools of Kabbalah. The creator gave all the information that any human being will ever need to Adam. This includes all of the information that science will ever discover. It includes all of the technology that man will ever need to develop or to use. In this Parasha the genetic law of recessive genes is revealed. Can you guess where? Lets understand the genetic law of recessive genes. In the science textbooks it is usually discussed about Blue Eyes. Each child get one eye color choromosome from their Mother and one from their Father. If the Mother has one Brown Chromosome or Gene and one Blue her eyes will be Brown. If the father has the same mix his eyes will be Brown also. Their children will come out with 75% of their children Brown and 25 % of their children will have blue eyes. This comes from the law of recessive genes. Jacob was shown this information (the laws of genetics) in a dream. (We learn this from the Torah in the conversation between Jacob and his wives, Rachel and Leah, when they agree to leave Lavan. This deam is not the Deam of the Ladder.) These laws of Genetics have been known in the Kabbalah all the way back to Adam. What other technology is known to the Kabbalists and not yet revealed by Science? Let us not speculate because we know that it will be revealed to the world when it is appropriate for the world to know this information! I want to draw your attention to an unusual use of a word. The verse is Chapter 31 Verse 42 and here it is in Hebrew: לולי אלהי אבי אלהי אברהם ופחד יצחק היה לי כי עתה ריקם שלחתני את-עניי ואת-יגיע כפי ראה אלהים ויוכח אמש in English: Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear(Dread) of Isaac, had been on my side, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and gave judgment last Night. I have put the word pachad פחד in large bold letters. Pachad is translated as eithe Fear or Dread. This is the only time that it is used in the Torah with Issac, in place of the word God (The actual phrase is Elohai (God) Avraham, and the Dread of Issac. The phase is more usually Elohai Avraham and Elohai Yitzak like we say in the Amidah) What is the spiritual message from this word at this place in dealing with Lavan? Perhaps HaShem did not want his name associated with Lavan but then why did he use it with Abraham! Actually if we again look at the Gematria we learn that the word VaPaChaD has a gematria of 98. 98 is a number indicating cleansing. Jacob, in speaking to Lavan uses the phrase the Elohai of Avraham to draw the Light and the phrase the Dread of Issac to cleanse himself of Lavan. There is a spiritual lesson for us in learning to draw upon the Light of God when we are planning to use it for the purposes of Cleansing. We must do so with the proper Names. Remember the Psalm verse paraphrased "I will answer everyone who calls upon my Name! Who calls upon my name in Truth! (Some translate truth as correct way as the word used in this Verse in Psalms is actually Tzedek meaning Righeous, Truth, or Correct Method or Way. It also helps to understand this cleansing of Lavan to remember Lavan, while it means white, is a very negative person. We use the connection to negativity during Pesach when the Hagadah says "An Aramean tried to kill My father ..." The sages teach that this alludes to Lavan. There is even a deeper understanding of Dread of Issac usage, when we realize that Lavan is a code word and represents the evil inclination after the coming of Mashiach. The Zohar explains that the Evil inclination will be weaker but must be present for procreation to happen. So the phrase Dread of Issac is actually separating between Good and Evil as well as minimizing the power of evil. It is truly amazing how we can not truly understand the spiritual lessons from the Torah without the tools of the Kabbalah! I usually don't look at the first word, of the Parasha, as many other writers spend hours of commentary upon the first word. This particular word ויצא Vayeitze has a subject that most other comentaries do not address. The initial vav in ויצא can change the verb tense and/or connect it to the last subject (read Maftir) in last week's reading. This is a well known interpretive tool used in Torah study. When the first letter in a Parasha is a Vav, many times it means that there is a connection between the last weeks reading of the Parasha (usually the Maftir) and this weeks reading of the Parasha. The Maftir in Toldot (Last Weeks Reading) speaks about the marriage of Esau to a daughter of Ismael. How does this marriage connect to Vayeitzei - Going out? To understand the connection we need to remember various prophecies and also forget the world of illusion that today seems to say the West (Edom who is Esau) and the Moslems ( who are Children of Ismael) are at war with each other. They actually are not enemies but family by marriage. The reason for the leading Vav connecting last weeks Maftir to this first Verse , is to learn the spiritual lesson that "only by going out of our natural inclination, (of our desire for oneself alone) can we defeat this family by marriage relationship. I write more deeply about this in my email for the month of Kislev which was delivered on Rosh Chodesh Kislev. I reccomend you read it here! What does Vayeitzei - going out mean or refer to? Lets look at the verse itself. It is Chapter 28 Verse 10. Here it is in Hebrew: ויצא יעקב מבאר שבע וילך חרנה and English:And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran. Do we truly need to know that he left Beer Sheva and went to Haran? We know from later in the Parasha he meets Lavan which we know lives in Haran and we already know that Issac settled in Beer Sheva. The Prophecies of the End of Days indicate 2 possible paths. One of peace and one of pain suffering war and chaos! This whole verse does not add anything to our knowledge on a physical level. It does add deep understandings on a spiritual level. As we revealed in last years email Beer Sheva represents a level of consciousness which means Malchut and Haran represents the level of the Klipot or negativity. Jacob Vayeitzei - going out from Malchut to the Klipot is the path that leads to Armageddon War and all of that chaos. Jacob going out by cleaving to HaShem, by going outside of his natural proclivities and breaking free of his desire to receive for oneself alone is the path that will lead to Peace and save the Children of Israel (Jacob) from the family by marrage relationship of Ismael and Esau. This is what will cause someone to receive the merit to have/create Miracles in their Life. What does this mean on a practical level? Ultimately there are midrashim that hint at the modern science theory of multiple universes and dimensions. These midrashim indicate that we must learn to open the doors to these multiple universes so that in the event of the Armageddon War we can escape the chaos by crossing over into these universes. How can we open these doors? By using the tools of Kabbalah to cleave to HaShem. Are you using the tools yet? They do take practice. These doors are on time lock. (This is like the Bank Vaults that can only be opened during business hours so no one can rob them at night.) They do not yet open. It is not yet time for Mashiach to manifest globally. When that time appears, those who are learning and practicing the Tools of Kabbalah will find these door open. Others will not have their process as easy to escape from this particular chaos (Armageddon War). When one looks at the Gematria of יצא which is the infinitive verb "to go out" one sees the Gematria is 101 which is the Gematria of the Angel Michael who is the Angel in charge of the Sephirah of Chesed or Mercy. Also the last 2 Letters have a Gematria of 91 which is = to the unity of the spiritual and phsyical worlds. The yood represents the 10 Sephirot, which is the meaning of going out - This word Yeitzei, is a method of using the 10 Sephirot to unify the spiritual and physical worlds. It is both beautiful and awe inspiring to learn to do this with code word Yeitzei יצא. The two paths to the End of Days are referred to in Kabbalah as Mercy and Judgment. The path of mercy will be found by connecting to the Angel or Race of Angels called Michael. This connection is through looking and meditating within yourself. This is what the tools of Kabbalah achieve. Kol Tuuv Shabbat Shalom Enjoy the Reading! P. S. I really suggest you read last years email to help you understand this years.
