A short teaching about Tzadikim and their Hilula: Hilula means the day of joy when a Tzadik leaves this plane of existence. Please check out and utilize the Tzadikim that want us to use them to assist us in our life. Review the list for each month. Review the Tzadikim that died on your birthdate as you have a connection to their souls. Look to your left to find the link. Of course this list is continuously being built by the Jewish Nation who determine Who is a Tzadik within any given Generation. If you have suggestions for adding people to the list please send them to me at yeshshem@hotmail.com. Before discussing the essence of Vaetchanan, i want to explain a spiritual law that is taught during the first few verses in Vaetchanan. The spiritual rules are set up that there is always cause and effect. Some people perceive this as reward and punishment but it is not that at all. When someone becomes a creator (one of the reasons behind the creation) or a cause of something happening all of the positive and negative energy from this cause is credited to the person who caused it. This is one source of zchut זכות (a Hebrew word that translates as merit but means so much more). Zchut can be used as a protection shield to avoid much chaos in our world. It is also the reason behind why someone is born in Western Society instead of North Africa which is undergoing severe starvation types of chaos in this generation. Continuing the spiritual law. When someone prays 515 times the system is set up that what one prays for that often must manifest. Weather the person needs it or just wants it. Weather the action will cause much pain and suffering or much joy and pleasure. The desire must manifest. Moshe knew this law as well. His desire was so strong to be in the Land that God had to wake him up. What do i mean God had to wake Moshe up? He reminded him about the effect of Moshe going into the land that would manifest as a greater amount of chaos in our world history than actually happened. In other words, there would have been a greater Showa, more pogroms Has Ve Shalom, and other forms of chaos than our current History books show happened. The Parasha is Vaetchanan. The Gematria of Vaetchanan is 515. The word translates as strong/intense Prayer like imploring or pleading. Our sages teach that had Moshe prayed one more time to go into the Land the universe would have manifested that way no matter what God wanted or no matter the consequences. This is an amazing teaching. All i have to do is ask for something 515 times and it must happen in my life. Weather i follow the rules and am a good boy or not. The universe will give me what i want as long as i continue to ask for it. So what is so hard about asking for something?.. . oh that is right. i forgot we like to think that we make something happen. That everything we have is not a gift from God. Our attitude or ego gets in the way and we forget to ask because we can get it ourselves. Is this true about you? Or do you always ask God for what you need and not what you want. When you ask for what you want there will be a consequence that is chaos to you and others. Even so, If you ask for what you need, than when you ask enough times it will not hurt anybody else. If you ask for what you want and it is not something you need than when the universe makes it happen other people have consequences including you. It is from this teaching we get the adage "Be careful for what you ask you just might get it"! 6 days after Tisha B'Av - the most negative day of the year. And one of the most positive days of the year (Birthdate of Mashiach). We have the most positive non holiday day of the year. It is called Tu B'Av. It is Jewish Valentines day but much more than that. It is the day when the full moon occurs during the month controlled by the Sun. Each full moon represents the complete sharing of the energy of that month. This month it represents the complete sharing by the male (sun) to the female (moon). Have a Happy Tu B'Av. Reflect on why it only takes 6 days to go from the lowest to the highest day of the year. What does this teach us? I will give you a hint. 6 is the Gematia of the Vav which is a Hebrew Letter that acts as a channel between the upper hay and the lower Hay of HaShem's name. Write me with your answers to yeshshem@hotmail.com. There are 21 spaces in this Parasha. This can be 7 on the Right for sharing; 7 on the left for receiving; and 7 in the middle for balance. Or it can be the Gematria of the Name Aleph Hay Yood Hay (21), a name connected to the Sephira of Bina (the energy store). This is one of the sources for the rapid connection from Tisha B'Av the lowest day in the year to Tu B'Av the highest non holiday day in the year. The essence of this Parasha is prayer and teaching us how to pray. So what is the Esser Debrot doing in this section? What does it have to do with prayer? One of the reasons is that prayer is actually true Chutzpah. True nerve! We are saying God you have the system wrong. i don't have what i want and therefore please change the system...change your mind. I think i know what is best...better than you God! Does this sound like chutzpah? Remember we are supposed to learn how to pray. It is a Mitzvah to pray. So how do we reconcile telling God "We know Better than you" and "God wants the prayers of the righteous". They are just two frames of development in the process. Before we are Tzadikim it is Chutzpah. After we are Tzadikim (All people will eventually become Tzadikim - even if only at the time of Mashiach) Hashem delegates control of the worlds to us the Tzadikim. What a Tzadik desires Hashem makes happen. It is also because a Tzadik always takes into consideration what is best for the person and the universe and does not ask for something that will cause pain and suffering to either. If you know a Tzadik go ask for a blessing. If you receive it than know that it will manifest. This is the reason many people both religious and non religious go to see publicized Tzadik's like The Chabad Rabbi and The Baba Sali to ask for Blessings. Since so many of our publicized Tzadikim have chosen to leave this world we need to ask, this question. "Do we live in a generation that has the zechut זכות (merit) to have a publicized Tzadik? If not we have to do this spiritual work ourselves - become our own Tzadik. This is why so many people are beginning to learn Kabbalah. One of the hardest things to understand about prayer is that it works. Or actually sometimes it works and i receive what i ask for and most times it does not work and i don't receive what i ask for. What makes the difference? When you ask for yourself it does not work. When you ask for another person it works. Even science is starting to see this truth by experimenting with flowers that grow better with/ when people pray for them. You want something for yourself. Ok. Don't ask for it. Ask for that same thing for another person or group of people. In Judaism all of the prayers are in the First Person Plural We want; we need; we did wrong actions etc.Yet it would be better if we just asked for the thing we want for another group of people. An Example would be i want healing for Sarah Bat Julia. I want a child for Eddie and Harriet my neighbors who have been trying to have a child for years. Another example would be that My friend Jack and his wife need new jobs as they have been laid off for 6 months. Please let them have new jobs that pay better than their old jobs. The reason this works to your benefit is as follows: You are a channel for the metaphysical energy that manifests as healing; new job; new child etc. Since you are a channel for this energy by praying for someone else you receive this energy first and the universe does not have to take it back because you are not getting this energy for yourself alone but in order to share it with others. This is how the system works and this is the lesson in Vaetchanan. Remember the large Ayin and Dalet in the Shma Israel verse. This spells the word ED which translates as witness. When you say the Shma you are a witness to the unity of Everything/All. What is the All? The Endless World which is the total of all desires when they are fulfilled. Say the Shma and bring the fulfillment to all desires. Remember the lesson above - only if you are doing it for others. The Kabbalists are teaching us that when we say the Shma, all lacks (desires) are fulfilled. So the simple question is Why do i not see this happen? The answer is you can not see it happen because you do not yet have a pure enough vessel to hold this fulfillment. How do i learn to have a pure enough vessel? How do i learn to become a Tzadik/Tzadeket? Study Kabbalah! Last year i asked you to see the difference in the Esser Debrot. I told you that there are 32 differences. Did you look at Exodus Chapter 20 and Devarim Chapter 6? Did you compare letter for letter and word for word. The most famous difference is the words Shamor (Chapter 6 of Devarim) and Zachor (Chapter 20 of Exodus). These are 2 completely different words. One is Remember (Zachor) and The other is Guard or keep safe (Shamor) the Shabbat. What is the spiritual lesson about these two words and their differences? This is one of the reasons that people (mostly women) light 2 Candles for Shabbat and Chagim (Holidays). One to remember and one to guard. A good Kavenah that is usually not taught to women is to realize that by the lighting of the 2 candles one is elevating Malchut to Binah. Both of these Sephirot have more affinity to women which is why the prevalent custom is to have the women of the house light the candles for Shabbat and Chagim. Why do we forget? Where does our memory reside? How can i safeguard something spiritual? This is teaching the unity of the Sphirot of Keter and Malchut. The crown and the Kingdom. The mind and the manifestation. This is why the midrash teaches that we heard both words (Shamor and Zachor) together when we heard the Esser Debrot. This lesson when learned well will assist you in growing to the level of consciousness called Mind Over Matter. There are 5 Vav's attached to the Esser Debrot in the book of Devarim. The Vav can be used as the word "and" in English. It can also be used as a preceding vav where it changes the tense of the verb from future to past and past to future. It is easiest to understand these Vav's as the "and" type. Then that leaves us with the question Why are they (the 5 Vav's) not in the Esser Debrot that is read in the Book of Exodus, in the Portion of Yitro? If the Vav's are change the tense type what is it telling us. Look at the second Vav on the phrase V'Lo Tignov. Tignov means to steal or cheat. The tense is considered present tense and thus does not apply to the tense change Vav. So we still have not answered the question what is the spiritual teaching from these Vav's. Also the question above Why are the Vav's not in the Book of Exodus? The Vav represents the level of Zeir Anpin in the Tetragramaton. Perhaps these Vav's represent the teaching that these statements (Do not Murder, Do not commit Adultery, Do not Steal, etc. ) apply also in the World of Yetzirah. As Heaven as we usually refer to Zeir Anpin and the World of Yetzirah, also has entities that steal. These entities are stealing our life force energy. They will be cleansed at the time of Mashiach but i beleive these Vav's teach us to be careful when we deal with the entities in our dreams, visions, and when we cross over (move to the spiritual from the physical) in our meditations. These entities may look beautiful but that is the illusion that they hide behind just as thieves in our world do not show us their true selves until after they have stolen from us. As we grow spiritually, we will meet these negative entities who inhabit the Heavens as well as the positive entities that inhabit the Heavens. We need to be careful in how we deal with them. That is a spiritual law taught by the Kabbalists. We must grow ourselves to the level of dealing with these spiritual levels in order to bring Mashiach. Yet we are as "babes in the woods" (innocent / without knowledge in how to deal with these entities) when we meet with these entities. Be careful but don't shy away from the interaction. Just guard yourself by remembering these lessons from the Esser Debrot. When you meet these entities in your dreams, visions, and meditations ask difficult questions. Do not be overawed by the splendor they display to you. Dig for the truth. Are they here to help you/us or hurt? Kol Tuuv Shabbat Shalom Enjoy the Reading! P. S.
