Letter Substitutuions or Notariken General Information

Below are links to various Alef Bets that are used in Notariken. Notariken is the Greek word for letter substitutions. Notariken is a well known Kabbalistic technique to demonstrate unity between various words.

The substitution methods are named by using the first few letter transformations. For Example the At Bash method is named thus due to the first transformation is the letter aleph into the letter taf thus AT. The second transformation is the letter Bet into the letter Shin thus BASH. Therefore the name of this transformation is AT BASH. All of the other transformation follow this naming convention except the last method. You will see why. We are showing 11 different methods and there are many others as well.
