This prayer is said 3 times per day. Twice in the morning and once in the afternoon. It is a prayer dealing with sustenance and Hashems Beneficense. There are many important Kavenot to be utilized to enhance the flow of beneficense through the manifestation of this prayer.
Both the Zohar and the Talmud say "That one who thoughtfully recites this prayer three times each day, particularly the verse that begins Poteach Et Yadecha is guaranteed a place in Olam Habah (The world that is coming).
These statements bring the following questions:
What does thoughtfully truly mean?
What does day mean in this context?
What is Olam Habah?
Thougthfully means with Kavenah (Intention)!
Day means daylight hours in this context. Therefore the three times that this is said is during morning prayer and then during daily study (which most people do after morning prayer and it consists of just saying this prayer Ashrai one more time).
Olam Habah is a very long discussion so i will not spend time upon this specifically right now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXO71ppbyL0&feature=relatedThis prayer called Ashrai Yoshvai consists of Psalm 84 Verse 5 as the first verse; this is followed by Psalm 144 verse 15; This is followed by all 21 verses of Psalm 145 which is formulated on the order of the Alef Bet; The final verse is Psalm 115 Verse 18. There are a total of 24 verses said this way. There are some congregations that add two additional verses that begin with Ashrai at the end of the prayer. This then makes 26 verses to connect with the energy of the Tetragramaton which has a gematria of 26.
Verse 1 - Tehillim 84:5
Transliteration
Ashrai Yoshvay Vaytecha Od Yehalelulah Selah!
Translation
Happy are they that dwell in Thy house, they are ever praising Thee. Selah
Christian Bibles may number this Verse as Verse 4
Kavenah
This verse is said sitting since the words imply dwelling internally and when ever Halacha indicates that a prayrer is to be said in a sitting position it indicates a desire to manifest this energy in the physical world.
Ashrai permutes into the word "my Head". Kabbalistically this is the Sod HaKeter - Secret of The Keter.
Yoshvay permutes into "Return to Hashem".
The word Bait of Baitecha has a gematria of 412 which is 2 times 206 which is the gematria of the 69th Name within the 72 Names of God. This Name deals with vision which Kabbalistically is a code word for the Sephirah of Chochmah.
The word Od has a gematria of 80 which is the gematria of the letter Pey which means mouth. When made properly there is a Bet within the Pey.
Halalucha has the gematria of 101 which is the same Gematria of the Arch Angel Michael.
Selah is a word that usually has no meaning. Its gematria is 95 which is the same as Hamelech meaning "The King". The Shoresh means "to exalt" as well as "forever".
Putting all of this together. In addition to the surface level meaning of these 7 words. It is also saying : Return to Hashem throgh the Sephirot of Keter, Chochmah, Chesed (which is Michael), using your mouth to say Blessings and to exalt Hashem Forever."
This is just an example of how involved the Kavenah can become. The rest of these verses will be less involved. Just know that you can do these same additional Kavenah for yourself within each verse and word.
Verse 2 - Tehillim 144:15
Transliteration

The first letters of the words Lo Ashrai HaAm spell the Name of our Mother Lea which is also a term used in Kabbalah connected to uthe Sephirah of Binah.
The word Elohav has the letters of the 44th name of the 72 Names of God within it. Elohav is connected to the frame of Judgment while the Name within the word is connected to the frame of Loving Kindness.
The next 21 Verses are the complete Psalm No 145 which is following the order of the Alef Bet. Whenever Verses are following the order of the Alef Bet it is putting the universe into the proper order to receive and manifest the Light in our world.

91 is also the gematria of the Name from the 72 Names of God dealing with prosperity. That Name is Sameck Aleph Lamed ס א ל פ א י
The final letters of these three words are Chet Taf Caf ח ת ךwhich is a Name dealing with Parnassa or sustenance.
