BERAISHIT בראשית

The Energy of the Parasha

Simply put: The energy of the Parasha is the energy of Creation.

Shabbat Beraisheet:

Before discussing the Shabbat Torah Reading let us discuss two last Holidays.

1. Shemini Atzeret - 8th day Assembly. This is not the 8th day of Sukkot. The number 8 relates to the Mashiach since it is 1 higher than the 7 aspects of this physical world. S.A. is a separate Holiday for two things. 1. The children of Israel gather closer to HaShem. This is done to motivate the Children of Israel to do more spiritual work. 2. Transition from praying for dew to praying for rain. What is that difference? It is to transition from the female waters of dew to the male waters of rain.

2. Simchat Torah - Joy of Torah - Dance with the Torah. This Holiday creates the potential surrounding light in and for your year.

We asked the question above - Who or What manifested Creation?

The Zohar explains that the attribute Name אל ־ El "mates" with הים HaYam to become the attribute ־ Elohim אלהים. There are many attributes that the word Elohim represents. Some of them are "The Sea of God". Another is "God's Torah" since the Hebrew word for sea always refers to the Torah according to the Zohar. Are you satisfied with this answer to the question? I am not.

We all can realize that the inner essence of the Parasha is "Creation". What is "Creation"? I strongly recommend that you click the link above to answer this question for yourself.

The Kabbalah teaches us to "turn it - turn it as everything is in it". This is especially true of everything "first" in the Torah. So we will look at the "first verse" in each Parasha this year. My hope for this tool is to motivate people to stop reading "the Bible" literally.

The first verse in the Parasha of Beraisheet is as follows:

בראשית ברא אלהים את השמים ואתה ארץ

Beraisheet Bara Elohim Et HaShamayim VeEt HaAretz

In a/the Beginning Elohim Created Et - The Heavens and Et - The Earth

7 words - Connects to the lower 7 Sefirot

28 Letters - Connects to the word Co-Ach - power and strength

Shiluv Tool: First Letters - This is my intuitive connection. You need to do this for yourself as well.

בבאאהוה - אב בא הוה - Father Comes "mischief - destruction - ruin"

What is the meaning of destruction with Creation? In my opinion, and the Kabbalah teaches that destruction is necessary as a first step towards Creation. There is a spiritual law that says: One must fall in order to rise higher.

Shiluv Tool: Final Letters - This is my intuitive connection. You need to do this for yourself as well.

תאםתםתץ - תת אם םת ץ - sub Mother Death "hunt me"

My interpretation: Mother brings life and the opposite is death; sub the "hunt for HaShem" to bring life instead of death.

Please email yeshshem@hotmail.com with your own meanings to these letters as acronyms. Your meanings will be added to the parasha page along with the attribution unless you request that there not be an attribution posted.

It is important that the above is not misinterpreted. There is only one God and He/She/It is the God of the Children of Israel. Always show respect - fear - awe for God whoose Name is יהוה.

Summary

Beraisheet is the first Parasha in the Torah. As the first Parasha it has all the energy of the Torah. This is true of all 6 chapters. It is also true of the first Aliya. It is also true of the first verse and also the first word and the first letter. This is why the Tanna Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai wrote 70 explanations of the word Beraisheet. These essays are called "Tikunei Zohar".

5 Full Columns + 1 Partial Column

241 Lines אמר Shoresh (root) meaning To Say or To Tell. This relates to the telling of the story of creation.

Please note:There are 42 Lines in each column

9th Parasha in length of No of Lines

Spaces

23 spaces - 10 Open; 13 Closed; Ranks 6th in No of Spaces

An Open Space starts on the next line while a closed Space has a distance of 9 or 16 Letters.

Kabbalistically Each Space represents the Light as it is the white part of the Parchment being let into this world. Sometimes this is for protection and other times it has different meaning. The reason for the closed spaces having different distances in letters is unknown to this author at this time.

Number of Verses

146 קמו

The same letters spell the word קום which translates as "to be realized"; "to wake up"; "to rise"; "to stand up"; "to be established". This is teaching about the manifestation of the creation.

146 is the same number of verses as the Parasha Mikketz. Both of these are tied as the 8th longest Parasha in verses even while Mikketz is longer in both words and letters.

why do both Beraishit and Mikketz have teh same number of verses?

One answer is the relationship to these names Beraishit means Beginning and Mikketz means End.

Number of Words

1931 Words אתתקלא or אלאץ. This second word can be permuted to be אאלץ. This word is translated as "one who is forced". This is an indication of some of the souls of these generations did not want to come down to the physical world.

Number of Letters

7235 זרלה. This can be permuted to spell לזרה which can be translated as "Teach strangers" or "teach strangeness". This relates to the idea that this physical world has the strange or other side within it as well as the side of Kedusha.

Other Aspects with the Parasha

Large and Small Letters; Dots; Unusual Columns; Unique Tagim

The first letter is both a Large letter Bet and is a column which starts with one of the six letters on the six columns that start with a letter other than a Vav. These six letters spell the name ביהשמו which deals with healing as well as other aspects. One way to translate this name is "His Name is in Yah (spelled Yood Hay)".

The large Bet is also unusual in that it sometimes has two tagim or sometimes 4 tagim instead of the usual one tag on a Bet.

A tag means crown.

In Chapter 2 verse 4 there is a word Behibaram spelled בהיבראם. The hay in this word is made smaller than usual. The word translates as "when they were created".

Kabbalah teaches that the word means "With Abraham" when it is permuted and this small Hay is what was added to the name Avram to become Abraham and change his destiny to have children.

Implied in this teaching is that the world was created for Abraham. This is a great responsibility of the Jewish nation.

There are no dots in the Parasha.

Mitzvot

There is one positive Mitzvah and no negative Mitzvot included in the list of Mitzvot from the Rambam (Rabbi Moshe Maimonides).

The Positve Mitzvah applies to all of humanity and is simpley "Be Fruitful and Multiply". A good question to ask is why is this Mitzvah worded the way it is and not a more simple "Have Children"?

In my opinion there is a negative Mitzvah in this Parasha. It is "Do not eat from the Tree of Knowledge , Good and Evil". I feel this way do to the world view (that i know is truth for me) that each verse in the Chumash (5 Books of Moses) applies to each human being in each and every generation. What this negative Mitzvah means and how it should be applied in our generation is open to discussion and i invite your input by email to yeshshem@hotmail.com.
