Torah: Parasha Bamidbar -Numbers Chapter 4 Verse 21 to Chapter 7 Verse 89
Haftara: Judges Chapter 13 Verses 2 - 25
The essence of Parasha Naso is related to the fact that it is always read on the Shabbat after the Holiday of Shavuot. In essence Naso is the manifestation of the Gift of the Torah. This is why all 13 Tribes are mentioned in the Parasha. The beginning of the Parasha we count the Levites and the end of the Parasha we read the donations to the Mikdash from each of the other 12 Tribes.
There are 174 verses, which is Ayin Kuf Dalet in Hebrew. this word is the root to the word binding or bound. This teaches that the parasha is binding the 13 Tribes - all of the Children of Israel to the Torah which is always given prior to the reading of the Parasha.
The purpose of reading this Parasha on the Shabbat after Shavuot is to draw the Light of Immortality - the Light of the Torah into our physical world. This is the manifestation of the sacrifices by the Heads of the Tribes. There is also a relationship to the idea of raising the Heads of the Levites - Hearts and the Heads of the Tribes since the Children of Israel is considered the Heart of the 70 Nations of the World.
Also in this Parasha is the Mitzvah to Bless the Children of Israel by the Cohenim - Priests. These verses are Chapter 6 Verses 24 - 26. these verses have 15 words and 60 letters which explain the connections to Yah and to Zeir Anpin. Also these words are considered the Center of the Torah itself.
As we know The center of anything is a connection to the balance point or the Center Column of the Tree of Life
Commentary for Year 5777
The word Naso translates as "take". What are we to take? The Kabbalah indicates that this Parasha is about revealing Light. Thus we are to take Light. What does this mean?
Later in this book of Numbers we learn that Korach took is not a positive approach to life. Kabbalah teaches that one does not take because that is a form of coercion. There is a spiritual law that states there is no coercion in spirituality. Ultimately this law explains that eventually, when Malchut is a mirror image of Binah - which will take place after Mashiach, there will not be any coercion in our physical world also.
Thus we learn that this Parasha Naso is a vaccine against "taking" using any form of coercian. This is the meaning of taking Light which is really revealing the Light that fulfills our desire to receive. When this happens properly then Naso will be spelled with a Vav as it is meant to be when complete.
