Parasha Pekudai is from Exodus Chapter 38 Verse 21 to Chapter 40 Verse 38
The Haftara is from Kings One Chapter 7 Verse 40 to 50.
Pekudai is usually translated as the accounts - implying an accounting. This is not an a correct translation. Pakid - פקד - the shoresh in Aramaic means clerk or soldier. The Yood at the end translates as the personal pronoun. The phrase then becomes "These are my soldiers of the Mishkan.
The parasha is a complete accounting of what the people donated and what was used in the Mishkan. The balance of the parasha repeats almost exactly the Parasha of Tetzeveh. Why? What is the difference? The Idol we call the Golden Calf. This reintroduces death and hatred and separation into the world. Yet only in Tetzeveh is Moshe missing not in Pekudai. Why then is Moshe said in Pekudai?
The answer, in my opinion, is the need for Moshe to represent many different roles within the nation, the nation that is a "Light to the Other Nations." Was Moshe a clerk or a soldier of HaShem? He was all of these and more.
Also the Zohar tells us that Pekudai is a mini-Torah in that it includes the Mishkan and Clothing of the Priests and acts as a blueprint for the Torah which is a blueprint for Creation. Some people perceive this as a metaphor. i am of the opinion that it is both a metaphor and a literal blueprint if only one goes into their minds ability to perceive metaphor as being accurate in the literal sense.
The physical description in the parasha is discussing the clothing of the Priests and also the High Priest. To understand this parasha one needs to understand the concept of clothing. Why do you wear clothing? The Kabbalah explains that clothing allows a human being to conceal his physical essence in order to reveal this essence in another place and time.
One essential essence of the Parasha of Pekudai is to provide the energy to receive clear communication and to send clear communication. This comes from the idea of a soldier or clerk. Neither make there own decisions - both follow orders. both are channels for the instructions they have received. In todays world our soldiers are supposed to evaluate their orders to make sure they are legal. If not legal the orders do not need to be followed. Pekudai is teaching us to be a clerk and a soldier for the instructions of the Torah. This is the energy we receive from the reading.
Pekudai פקודי breaks down into two words. The first three letters spell the shoresh or root for "His Produce". the last two letters spell the word Dai meaning enough or sufficient. Thus the word can also be translated as "His Produce is sufficient".

Parasha Vayakhel and Pekudai
This week we read two portions - Vayakhel meaning "gathers" and Pekudai normally translated as "accounting". It is better to translate Pekudai more literally as "My clerks or My soldiers".
Why do we read two Portions?
Nominally we are told we read the two Parashas since their energies and essence is similar. This may be true for other double portions. This is not truly correct for these two parashas.
Also why are these two portions almost duplicates of earlier Parashas. Vayakhel is almost a duplicate of Terumah. Pekudai is almost a duplicate of Tetzaveh. Yet each parasha has additional subjects so that the duplication is similar yet not exact. What do we learn from this truth?The Sages explain that the major difference is that the Erev Rav are not included after the building of the Golden Calf. Thus the energy of Shabbat is included in Vayakhel as additional cleansing against the energy of death which returned as an effect of the desire to replace Moshe with the Golden Calf.
The modern Kabbalists explain the need for each Child of Israel to become a "solidier or clerk" to and for HaShem. Each Child of Israel needs to search their own character traits to remove any infestation associated with the Erev Rav.
