Commentary for 5778

Shabbat Vayeitzei:

This parasha tells the story of Jacob being sent away from his home and marrying his cousins, having children and returning to Eretz Israel.

Do you know how many Children called Jacob Dad while he lived in Paddan Aram with Lavan?

The answer is 11 sons and 1 daughter or is it as taught by the midrash, there are 11 sons and 12 daughters. How does one reconcile this disparity. The midrash teaches that each son is a twin and that the other daughters all married their brothers as theKabbalah teaches that soul mates are easy to find for righteous people. For non righteous it is difficult and requires one to grow spiritually in order to merit finding and marrying one's soul mate.

In my opinion, the important aspect to this parasha is the stories of the birth of the children.

These stories of the 11 sons relate to the Zodiac signs used in Hebrew Astrology as well as the Hebrew months of the year. The stories of the births and the Names of each son relate to the Zodiac signs and the attributes of the astrological signs.

There is a dispute between the Sages about which son of Jacob relates to which astrological sign. This dispute is reconciled by realizing that when the world changes epochs the astrology changes slightly. When the redemption took place the epoch changed from the astrological sign of Taurus to Aries.

An Epoch runs approximately 1500 to 2000 years. Since the redemption we have processed through the sign of Pisces and are currently in the Epoch or Age of Aquarius.

Currently the modern astrological world is undergoing changes referred to as sidereal astrology and the addition of the 13th sign called Ophiuchus - Serpent Bearer. The 13th sign was expected by the Kabbalists just as they expected the additional 3 outer planets to be discovered.

Sidereal astrology calculates the size of the signs of the Zodiac in degrees. Then the astrological chart is displayed with these different sized signs and the planets move within these different size houses on an astrological chart.

It is suggested that one use the link above to read what is the essence of this Parasha. Also to read about the DNA of creation and how it actually is possible to change your personal DNA.

First Verse Kabbalistic Analysis:

ויצא יעקב מבאר שבע וילך חרנה

And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.

Vayeitzei Yaakov MeBeer Sheva Vayelech Charanah

6 words connect to the Sefira of Yesod which translate as "foundation". It also connects to the Sefirah of Tiferet. It also represents the letter Vav which means "hook". In addition the number 6 always refers to the idea of Zeir Anpin which is Aramaic for "Small Face".

23 Letters connects to "lifeforce" as well as "my glory".

Shiluv Tool: First Letters

This is my intuitive connection. You need to do this for yourself as well.

וימשוח - משיח וו - ומשיחו - One permutation is translated as "and His Mashiach". Another translation is Mashiach of 12 - Tribes is implied.

The gematria of these letters is 370. 370 has a number of words that have this gematria. Here are some:

שלם - completion -Peace - whole -health

דרך עולם - The everlasting Path or way - Psalm 139:24 - Concealed Path

עקר - stem - root - essence - reality - Aramaic Translation is a Name for God

קרע - Kra - tear or rend

צרף - refine - smelt-solder - to combine - to connect.

Shiluv Tool: Final Letters

This is my intuitive connection. You need to do this for yourself as well.

אברעכה - אבר ע כ ה - Past - eye - palm - Physical World

My opinion is "See past the physical world to do your actions"

Please email yeshshem@hotmail.com with your own meanings to these letters as acronyms. Your meanings will be added to the parasha page along with the attribution unless you request that there not be an attribution posted.

It is important that the above is not misinterpreted. There is only one God and He/She/It is the God of the Children of Israel. Always show respect - fear, awe for God whose Name is יהוה Included in this name are all of the attributes that a human being perceives as belonging to HaShem, including Elohim - Shadai - myriads of other Names.

The essence of the Parasha

The Name of this Parasha is a bit concealed as to its essence. Vayetze translates as went out, meaning past tense. This is actually coming from the leading Vav which changes the tense from future to past. This change to actually realizing that the translation can be "and will go" or "and will exit".

What does it mean to exit? And where is the Torah telling us to exit? The Kabbalah teaches that to exit means to leave behind something. What are we supposed to leave behind? As a student of Kabbalah your first guess can be "chaos". Yes this Parasha allows us to leave behind our chaos. How do we do that?

The story of Jacob's payment from Lavan is strange. It says that Jacob agrees to take in payment all of the sheep and goats and cattle that are solid colored. Most animals have spots - Nekudim; speckles - Akudim; and Flecks - Berudim. When the genes unite in an animal from the mother and father animal it is genetically unusual for the baby animal to be solid in color - without spots, speckels, and flecks. The Kabbalah, through Rabbi Ashlag in his "Ten Luminous Emanation" Sefer explains that these three Hebrew words represent the three Creations. These Creations occur prior to the Creation of our physical world and thus have the seed level of everything that happens in our physical world.

When you are at the seed level you can correct any aspect of anything that follows in the process of Creation. Thus you can remove any chaos in your life and the life of the world. That opportunity occurs during the 5th Aliya - the Hod Aliya. The Sefira of Hod represents the manifestation of the spiritual. It is more energy intensive than even the physical manifestation since it does not have to be connected to physicality. This is the Sefira that Rabbi Shimon chose to have as his Hilula - Lag BeOmer - Hod Shebe Hod. As you listen to this Aliya contemplate how you would change the life of this world.

Commentary from the year 5777

By utilizing the 3 aspects of Creation - Nekudim - Akudim - Berudim. These are spots - speckles - flecks we can leave our chaos behind. In the story it appears as it is referring to DNA and genetics and that is true. It is referring to the DNA of Creation.

If you say these 3 words and have certainty you receive the energy of leaving your past negative actions that create your chaos in this lifetime. Interested? Try it for 1 year straight - each day say these 3 words in Hebrew. You will see a diminished amount of your individual chaos and if enough of us do this the worlds chaos will change.

    the No of Verses

There are 148 Verses. The Sages gave us 2 code words. One is חלקי which is translated as "My Portion". This refers to your tikune which is a portion of the tikune of mankind. The other word is מחנים which can be translated as "from a sea of Chen - grace". Grace refers to HaShem's Mercy. This is indicated that the ability to change our DNA of creation comes from HaShem's Mercy.
