Sefer Yetzirah Class 12

This class will cover the balance of Chapter 1. There are numerous amounts of Misnayot some covering 5 6 and 7 and others just covering a short Mishna and then two others as is our Mishna tonight. See Below and we will discuss it briefly.

חמש חתם רום בסוד, נ"א - בירר שלש אמות מן התפשטות [בנדפס - הפשוטות] וקבען בשמו הגדול יה"ו וחתם בהן שש קצוות:

(יג) פנה למעלה וחתמו ביה"ו, שש חתם תחת פנה למטה וחתם ביו"ה, שבע פנה לפניו וחתם מזרח בהי"ו, שמנה פנה לאחוריו וחתם מערב בהו"י, תשע פנה לימינו וחתם דרום בוי"ה, עשר פנה לשמאל וחתם צפון בוה"י:

Pinu Lamaalah VChitmo Be Yood Hey Vav, Shaish Chatam Tachat Pinu Lamatay Vechatam BeYood Vav Hey, Shevah Pinuh Lapaniv Vechatam Mezarach BeHay Yood Vav, Shemanah Pinuh Panah Laachuriv Vechatam Mayarav BeHay Vav Yood, Tesha Penu LaYaminu Vechotam Darom BeVavYood Hey,Esser Pinuh Lashmaal Vechotam Tzafon BeVav Hey Yood.

(יד) אלו עשר ספירות בלימה, אחת רוח אלהים חיים, שתים רוח מרוח, שלש מים מרוח, ארבע אש ממים, ושש קצוות רום תחת מזרח מערב צפון דרום (תם פרק ראשון):

Ehlu Esser Sefirot Belimah Ehchat Ruach Elohim Cham, Shetim Ruach MeRuach, Shalosh Mayim Meruach, Arbah Aish Memayim, VeShesh Ketziwot Rom Tachat Mezarach MeErev Tzaphon Damom (Tam Perek Rishon).

Here is an English Translation.

Mishna 1:13. He chose 3 Letters from among the elementals and He set them in His Great Name and with them He sealed six extremities. Five. He sealed "above" and faced upward and sealed it with Yood Hey Vav. Six. He sealed "below" and faced downward and sealed it with Hey Yood Vav. Seven. He sealed "East" and faced straight ahead and sealed it with Vav Yood Hey. Eight. He sealed "West" and faced backwards and sealed it with Vav Hey Yood. Nine. He sealed "South" and faced to the Right and sealed it with Yood Vav Hey. Ten. He sealed "North" and faced it to the Left and sealed it wtih Hey Vav Yood.

These are the 10 Sefirot of Belie Mah. Breath of the Living God. Breath from Breath, Water from Breath, Fire from Breath, Up, Down, East, West, North, South.

Please note that the order of the Sefirot follows the same order as all of the Mishna's from 9 to 13 as well as the specific order of Mishna 1.5. Why that order? In the modern Kabbalists they follow the order of Water, Fire, Breath, South, North, East, Up, Down, West.

This change took place in the 1500's. Why do you think? I will give you a physical hint. The ARI Rabbi Isaac Luria Ashkenazi was born in 1532 (?).

Why did HaShem choose elementals for His name and not Doubles or Mother Letters?
