It is taught in the Talmud, When a person is named, the one doing the naming is given "Ruach Hakodesh" (a level of prophecy) in order to match the name to the Soul. This teaches that One's name is the vessel that holds the essence of one's Soul. Study of ones (Hebrew) Name is to Study oneself! To study oneself will cause one to improve him/herself. When one improves him/herself, one gets closer to the creator.

A child's name is revealed to the parents by divine inspiration and also indicates the baby's talents and goals in life. Elazar was the son of Aaron, the first high priest. Yitzchak, or Isaac, was the son of the first forefather, Abraham. While both Elazar and Yitzchak were famous because of their righteous fathers, they each had special qualities that surpassed their fathers.
