Yom Kippur

The Torah actually uses the term Yom HaKipurim. This translates as the Day like Purim. Purim means lots and represents the concept of chance in our lives. The Torah teaches that there is no chance. Everything is preordained. Therefore we need to understand what happens on this day of Yom Kippur that is so paradoxical.

One ritual is known as Kapporot and it is highly recommended that one perform this ritual as close to Sunrise on the 9th Day of Tishrai as possible
