Zohar Commentary of the Zohar PORTION called the PROLOGUE

SYNOPSIS:

(When they were created - with Abraham) The chaotic world became complete and ordered upon the arrival of Abraham for he symbolizes and reveals the Light of Mercy [Chesed]. The Zohar explains that the Light of Mercy personifies sharing, and that it embodies the positive energy within our world. Meditatively browsing the Aramaic wording awakens our desire to share. In turn, we arouse the spiritual Light that removes chaos from our lives.

Pasook 45. from the Zohar Commentary of the Prologue to the Zohar

Rabbi Yosi said it is certainly so! I heard the same from the Holy Luminary, WHO IS RABBI SHIMON, that the word bara is concealed to show THAT THE KEY locks up and does not unlock. As long as THE KEY locked up the word bara, the world could not exist and would not have lasted at all! Complete chaos would have prevailed, covering the entire existence. And when this chaos prevailed there would not have been a world; it would have never lasted!

chanoch's Commentary

The midrash teaches that the world was created with strict judgment. Then when HaShem saw the world could not endure he introduced Mercy. The seven lower Sefirot begin with Chesed which is loving kindness. Now how does that relate to the Pasook above? Bara is concealed within the word Beraishit. Bara means "Create". If the energy to Create would be available for each person than each person would create his own world and there would be no way to reconcile all of these different worlds.

Pasook 46. from the Zohar Commentary of the Prologue to the Zohar

When did this key unlock the gates, and serve and produce offspring? When Abraham appeared, AS HE IS THE SECRET OF CHESED. As it is written: "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created (BeHibar'am)" (Beresheet 2:4). And we have already learned, Do not pronounce it Behibar'am but Be-Abraham (Eng. 'with Abraham'). Then, the letters that were entirely concealed in the word bara WERE OPENED to hear. And the Pillar of Procreation, the sacred limb of Yesod, upon which the world is established was revealed. Because the word bara (Eng. 'created') is formed by the letters, bet-resh- Aleph. Thus, it consists of the same letters as Evar (Eng. 'limb' in Aleph-Bet- Resh).

chanoch's Commentary

Let us look at the word Behibar'am - בהיבראם. These letters permute to be BeAbraham. Until Abraham came into the world the concept of Bara - Creation was concealed in the words like Behibaram and Beraishit and the like, effectively concealing Bara - Create. When Abraham came out from the cave where his mother had hid him (according to the midrash) he also became the first man who used his sex organ in a face to face manner with a women. This is my opinion not yet confirmed by either Science or the religious Sages. This is the essence of this pasook.

Pasook 47. from the Zohar Commentary of the Prologue to the Zohar

When ever left its impression on the word bara, then the supernal and concealed One formed another impression for His Name and Glory, which is "who (Heb. mi, Mem-Yud)" and "created these (Heb. eleh, Aleph-Lamed -Hei)." So was the Holy and Blessed Name, which is Mem-Hei, formed as a mark. It brought forth ever from bara. And it has the imprint of eleh from one side, and ever from the other side. Therefore in the sacred concealed One, eleh exists, as do ever. And when one of them reaches perfection, so does the other. Thus, He engraved upon ever the letter Hei, and it engraved upon the Aleph, Lamed, and Hei, the letter Yud!

chanoch's Commentary

Let us look at Bara and Ever. Bara is ברא and Ever is אבר. They are teh same letters which means they have the same meanings. Bara is Create. Ever is limb. Abraham has both meanings within him. Do you know a person named Abraham? Is he creative? Is he strong like a limb / branch of a Tree? Did you ever realize that being a supportive limb is a form of creativity? This is what this Pasook is asking us to contemplate. Now apply the last sentence of the Pasook to these two words Bara and Ever along with a Hay and Yood. Together Yah represents the upper worlds. How does this help your understanding of life and Creation?

Pasook 48. from the Zohar Commentary of the Prologue to the Zohar

AND HE EXPLAINED THAT WHENEVER the letters ALEPH-BET-RESH AND HEI AND THE LETTERS ALEPH-LAMED-HEI AND YUD were roused to complete both sides, He then brought forth the final letter Mem. One took final Mem to one side - THAT IS, ALEPH-LAMED-HEI-YUD, and one took final Mem to the other side, that is to the letters ALEPH-BET-RESH-HEI, thus completing the holy name BY COMBINING THE LETTERS to form Elohim. In the same manner, the name Abraham was completed. AND THIS IS WHAT WE MEANT WHEN WE HAD STATED, 'when one of them reaches perfection, so does the other.' And some say that the Holy One, blessed be He, took the letters Mem-Yud and put them together with THE LETTERS Aleph-Lamed-Hei and THE COMBINATIN Elohim was formed; and He took THE LETTERS Mem- Hei and put them together with Aleph-Bet-Resh, and it became THE COMBINATION Abraham. And the word Mi alludes to the fifty gates of Binah, and in THE WORD MI there is a Yud, which is the first letter of the Holy Name. And the word Mah alludes to the numerical value of the Holy Name, BECAUSE THE NUMERICAL VALUE OF YUD HEI VAV HEI FULLY SPELLED WITH ALEPH'S IS MEM-HEI, and it has within it the second letter of the holy name Yud Hei Vav Hei, which is Hei. As it is written, "happy are the people for whom this is so...WHOSE ELOHIM IS HASHEM ELOHIM" (Tehilim 144:15) and "and hangs the earth upon nothing (Heb. blimah)" (Iyov 26:7). The word Mah in this verse alludes to the numerical value of Yud Hei Vav Hei when spelled out with Aleph's. And then both worlds were upheld, the World to Come with the letter Yud and this world with Hei. That is, He created the World to Come with Mi, and this world with Mah. This is a hint for the higher and lower. And then He created offspring and the name was complete. As it is written: "These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were created (Heb. Behibar'am)" (Beresheet 2:4). the word Behibar'am has the same letters as BeAbraham, because all the generations were suspended, INCOMPLETE, until the name of Abraham was created. When the name of Abraham was completed, so was the holy name completed. And this is what is written, "in the day that Hashem Elohim made the earth and the heaven" (Ibid.). THE WORDS "IN THE DAY...MADE" MEAN WHEN THEY WERE COMPLETED THROUGH THE NAME ABRAHAM, AND ONLY THEN IS THE NAME YUD HEI VAV HEI FIRST MENTIONED IN THE TORAH.

chanoch's Commentary

Write out the Names being mentioned here. See how they work together. Understand why Abraham is Chesed. Start to stand in Awe of the Hebrew Letters and the words that are formed through them. i suggest that whenever you start to "loose" your connection to the awe of HaShem return and read this section of the Prologue.
