It is recommended to study the section prior to reading the Synopsis.

Zohar Sulam Commentary on Parasha Vayelech Section 9

It is best to study the Zohar in the following manner:

1. Read out loud the Aramaic Verse. If you need to transliterate in order to read with the sounds of the lettersthe verse see below. If you use the transliteration tool than make sure you scan the Aramaic first and last.

2. Read the English Translation - if you desire to understand and realize that your understanding will limit the energy you receive. This is why it is important to scan the aramaic verse first.

3.Write out your understanding of the verse. Send it to yeshshem@hotmail.com in an email. Use the Parasha Name and verse number in the subject. By sending your understanding you give yeshshem.com permission to post this to web page and any other uses Yeshshem may see a beneficial use.

4. Now read chanoch's Commentary or additions to enhance and or modify your own personal understanding.

SYNOPSIS:

Rabbi Shimon discourses on the spiritual significance of, and the benefits enjoyed by, those who receive their souls from the realm of Malchut when she is defective.

THE RELEVANCE OF THE PASSAGE:

The energy arising out of these verses helps reduce the pain and suffering that we endure as a result of negative deeds in present and past lives. Meditating to share this energy with others helps to reduce their pain and suffering as well. The spiritual benefits associated with the Moon's positive aspects are aroused in our life, and the negative influences arising from the Moon are averted.

Translation

Rabbi Shimon opened the discussion with the verse, "Only he shall not go in to the veil, nor come near the to altar, because he has a blemish; that he profane not My holy places, for I, Hashem, do sanctify them" (Vayikra 21:23). "He shall not go in to the veil." Come and behold, at the time the river is flowing and comes out FROM EDEN, WHICH IS YESOD, and issues the souls TO THE NUKVA, the Nukva conceives WITH THEM. And they all abide WITHIN HER in a room within a room, where the walls are covered with wallpaper or carpets.

chanoch's Commentary

Why do you think we need to know that the walls on the room are covered with wallpaper or carpets? Also i do not have confidence in the idea of wallpaper being an accurate translation since i do not think their was wall paper in the days of the Zohar.

Translation

When the moon is rendered defective by the same aspect of the evil serpent, all the souls that are issued AT THAT TIME, although they were all pure and sacred, since they emerged at a defective time, THE BODIES WITH WHICH the Souls came are crushed, and suffer pains and afflictions. The Holy One, blessed be He, cares for AND LOVES those who are broken, although their souls are sad instead of joyous.

chanoch's Commentary

When is the moon defective? When it is in decline - from the full moon to the new moon - which is the second half of the month. There is also a hint in this pasuk to the cause of clinical depression, in my opinion.

Translation

The secret is that they remain as above IN THE NUKVA. When the body is flawed, the soul inside remains the same AS IN THE NUKVA. BECAUSE THE SOUL RESIDED WITHIN THE FLAWED NUKVA, IT RESIDES NOW WITHIN THE FLAWED BODY. The one state resembles the other. Therefore, they are renewed like the moon, as it is written, "And it shall come to pass, that every new moon, and every Shabbat, shall all flesh come to bow down to the ground before Me, says Hashem" (Yeshayah 66:23). "All flesh" assuredly, for they are in need of renewal along with the moon.

chanoch's Commentary

Read the verse closely. the verse says that the soul is defective if the body is defective. Also this can be healed on the new moons if one knows how to do this. And has certainty that this works. Each month has a tikune and this will apply to the defective aspects of the body and soul as well. In my opinon the defective aspects can only be healed in the appropriate months.

Translation

THOSE RIGHTEOUS are the constant companions of the moon, THE NUKVA, and have the identical defects. She therefore dwells always within them and never leaves them, as it is written, "him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit" (Yeshayah 57:15) and, "Hashem is near to them who are of a broken heart" (Tehilim 34:19) THAT IS, to those who suffered from the same defect as the moon, those who are always near her. "And He saves such as are of a contrite spirit" (Ibid.), by giving them a portion of the life flowing INTO THE NUKVA for renewal, because they who suffered with her shall also be renewed with her.

chanoch's Commentary

How does the moon suffer? It does not have its own light. Each month the light of the moon is renewed and each person can renew him or her self.

Translation

Those DEFECTS FROM WHICH THE RIGHTEOUS SUFFER are called 'sufferings of love', because they are caused by love and not by the man himself. They are of love because the light of the smaller love was impaired when rejected by the greater love. Therefore, THE RIGHTEOUS are her companions and share HER FLAW. Happy is their portion in this world and in the World to Come, for they merited to be her friends, as it is written of them: "For my brethren and companions' sakes" (Tehilim 122:8).

chanoch's Commentary

There are Righteous souls and people who suffer body pains and limitations. This suffering is what is referred to in this pasuk. The righteous suffer rather than the many other people who merit to receive this suffering pain and chaos. Learn this well. Accept your suffering with love and save the righteous from this effect. You will receive great merit in my opinion.
