Zohar Sulam Commentary on Parasha Yitro Section 10

It is best to study the Zohar in the following manner:

1. Read out loud the Aramaic Verse. If you need to transliterate in order to read with the sounds of the letters the verse see below. If you use the transliteration tool than make sure you scan the Aramaic first and last.

2. Read the English Translation - if you desire to understand and realize that your understanding will limit the energy you receive. This is why it is important to scan the aramaic verse first.

3.Write out your understanding of the verse. Send it to yeshshem@hotmail.com in an email. Use the Parasha Name and verse number in the subject. By sending your understanding you give yeshshem.com permission to post this to web page and any other uses Yeshshem may see a beneficial use.

4. Now read chanoch's Commentary or additions to enhance and or modify your own personal understanding.

SYNOPSIS:

The size and shape of ears is correlated to certain human characteristics, the ears being of the letter Yud. From here, we are told that the Zohar will speak about the mysteries of the verse, "This is the book," in its supreme spiritual level in the context of times and seasons of this world.

Translation

The mystery of the ears. One whose ears are large has foolishness in his heart and madness in his spirit. One whose ears are small and preserve a proper shape, when awakened, is wise-hearted. He will concern himself with everything. This type is under the letter Yud, which is included in all other letters.

chanoch's Commentary

The verse is clear as written. What is the meaning of "preserve a proper shape"? Does it mean the ear lobe is attached or disconnected.?

Translation

Until this point is the secret of the shapes of man. From here forward we will concern ourselves with other mysteries of our master RABBI SHIMON which have no standing with regard to the countenance. Rather, we will endeavor to learn the mysteries of the verse, "THIS IS THE BOOK," in its supreme spiritual level in the context of times and seasons of this world, of WHICH UNTIL NOW we were not worthy of knowing.

chanoch's Commentary

Even with Rabbi Ashlag's comments the verse has words that are difficult to understand, including the source verse of "this is the book".

Translation

Rabbi Shimon said, My children, you are worthy in this world and you are worthy in the World to Come. Blessed are my eyes that will be worthy to see this when I enter the World to Come. For the sake of my soul, I call to Atik Yomin ('Ancient of Days') this verse, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over" (Tehilim 23:5). And the Holy One, blessed be He, calls to us, "Open the Gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faithfulness may enter in" (Yeshayah 26:2).
