Week of July 10, 2011 Shabbat Pinchas, Tammuz 14, 5771 | |
---|---|
This week the Parasha is named Pinchas ?????. We read the story about Pinchas last week so why wasn't last week's Parasha named after Pinchas? Why was this week's named Pinchas? One of the answers to this question is that Balak needs to be before Pinchas due to the way the Pey is shaped in the Ashurite Script (The way the letters are made in the Torah). The Bet of Balak is the inner essence of the Pay of Pinchas as demonstrated by the concealed Bet within the letter Pey when written in the Torah script. We discuss this in detail in our classes on the Hebrew Letters now on going. These classes are taught 10 AM PDT Sunday mornings. If you interested in joining these classes and learning more about the Hebrew letters contact me by email and i will advise you how to do this. There are 5 unique aspects in the Parasha of Pinchas. See below and count them as you read them. Then you may be able to answer why this Parasha is so unique? Pinchas is always read the Shabbat before or the Shabbat after the 17th Day of Tammuz. It is interesting to note that the Haftara is different if the reading is before or after the 17th Day of Tammuz. Can you guess the reason for this? It is because the energy of the cosmos changes during the 3 week period. Learn more about that in the links below. 3 week Period and Easy Fast Meditation for 17th of Tammuz and 9th of Av Here is our weekly cartoon link for the Parasha. Here is a link for a cartoon summary of the Parasha. We hope you enjoy it. Torah Readings: The reading of the Parasha is Numbers Chapter 25 Verse 10 to Chapter 30 Verse 1. The total number of Verses is 168. This is spelled ??? in Hebrew. This can be translated as Speak 100. This refers to the 100 Blessings that are recommended that a person on a spiritual path say each and every day. The Torah teaches, in the book of Kings, that a plague erupts among the seekers when the seekers fail to speak 100 Blessings each day. The cure for this plague is to start to say 100 Blessings each day. Each generation has a plague that deals with the Tikune of that generation. For our generation it is the plague called Cancer. Guess what month we are in right now? Yes it is also called Cancer. There is a direct relationship not a coincidental relationship between The month of Cancer, The disease or plague of Cancer and the Parasha of Pinchas. We will reveal this below. The code words from the Sages are ???? and ???? ????. The first word translates as "teach to distinguish" and the second phrase can be translated as "And my God will rake up his fall". Both code words are indicated an aspect of Tikune and ultimately a level of healing. Other words that have a gematria of 168 are ??????? which translates as "And Benjamin" or "And son of the Right". Also ??? which translates as "to cover, to protect, to enclose, or to surround" and indicates a method of healing associated with the Bodies white cells. The number of words in the Parasha is 1887 spelled ????? or ????. The first spelling has the meaning of Et Orange which actually means "the Shecina is orange". The second spelling translates as "a gold mouth". I am not sure how all of this applies to the Parasha yet. Maftir: The Maftir is Chapter 29 Verses 35 to Chapter 30 Verse 1. This is 6 Verses and 1 space. This Maftir has all of the unique energy of Shemini Atzeret (PLease read below). It also include the central column relationship of Simchat Torat, as this same Maftir is read on those Holidays. Spaces: There are 35 spaces in this Parasha. This relates to the word ?? which means her. This is the Schecina - the Female aspect of Hashem. One of the 35 spaces is unique. It is the space in the middle of the verse at Chapter 26 verse 1. This space is right next to the word that translates as plague. It is a metaphor for the healing light of plagues. This unique space is actually the lenth of 2 regular spaces. As such, in my opinion, we can say that there are 36 space which represents 2 times 18 or double life. Life in the phyiscal world and life in the spiritual world. Haftara: The Haftara changes depending on weather the reading is before the 17th of Tammuz (as is the case this year) or after. When it is before the the 17th the reading is Kings 1 Chapter 18 Verse 46 to Chapter 19 Verse 21. This is 22 verses and 2 spaces. This indicates the power and energy of the Hebrew Letters and both columns (right and left - sharing and receiving) of the Tree of Life. In most years it is the reading from Mattot which is Jeremiah Chapter 1 Verse 1 to Chapter 2 Verse 3. This is 22 verses and 5 spaces. Since this is being read during the 3 week period it needs to be a stronger connection to the Creator which is why it has the 5 spaces which connect to all 5 Books of Moshe - All of the energy of the Torah. Written and Spoken Verses: The Haftara has 1 word written and spoken differently. It is Verse 4 of Chapter 19. It is the word Echad written in the female form Echat and spoken in the male form Echad. But we actually need to go deeper because in Letter Substitution called Notariken a dalet and a taf are always interchangable as they come from the same parts of the mouth. So why is this particular Echad one of these items that are written and spoken differently? It is because the word Rotem, just before the word echad in the verse is a difficult word to understand. The English translation say he sat under a Rotem Tree, but there is no word for tree in the Hebrew verse. The word Rotem is a shoresh meaning to harness to yoke to bind. This Haftara is speaking of "connection to Hashem" as well as connection to certainty and that is why the word One is treated uniquely. The Parasha also has a word spoken and written differently. It is in Chapter 26 Verse 9. It is the same word that was spoken and written differently in Parasha Bamidbar except the written and spoken aspects are reversed. I suggest you look at my writing from the email associated with Bamidbar for this year. In the haftara of Matot (read if the Shabbat Pinchas is after 17th of Tammuz) there is no word written and spoken differently. Large or Small Letters and Dots: In the Haftara there is no Large or Small letters or dots. In Chapter 25 Verse 11 there is a small Yood added to the name Pinchas. Please note that Pinchas can be spelled with or without the Yood. The Mekubalim teach us that this small Yood assists us in reducing our desire to receive for oneself alone. It also reduces the influence of the physical world which is effectively reducing the influence of Satan. In Chapter 27 Verse 5 we have a large Nun in the word Mishpatan (judgment). The Mekubalim teach us that a large Nun helps us to avoid falling. Judgment is where most if not all of us fall because we judge others as less than ouselves to make us feel more important. If we avoid judging others than the universe has no ability to judge us. It is only by the words that we use to judge others that we ourselves are judged. Remember this by the same words we say about others - those same words will be used to judge US - at any judgment day either a Rosh Hashana, a bet din from the days actions or our final judgment day when we leave the world. Only our own words, used to judge others, can be used to judge us. The large Nun assists us in avoiding making this mistake of falling to judge others. In Chapter 29 Verse 15 there is a dot over a Vav in the word Isaron. In this section the word Isaron is translated as one tenth. In this section it is speaking about the meal offering that accompanies the animal sacrifice. In this verse Isaron is said twice one right next to the other. Yet the dot is only over one of the Vav's. The Mekubalim indicate that this dot is the smallest form of physicality and helps us reduce our physical connection so that we may manifest the greatest amount of light from this verse which is speaking about the light sent to the Children of Israel during the sacrifices of the Holiday of Sukkot. please remember that we sacrifice a bull for each nation in order for them to recieve a certain energy that they need during the year. In this verse and this dot we are dealing with the lambs that were brought each day of Sukkot. This energy goes to the Children of Israel. This dot helps us learn this. In this Parasha there is a unique letter. It is the vav in the world Shalom in Chapter 25 Verse 12. In the Torah if a letter has a break in it the whole Torah is pasul - meaning corrupt and not usable until it is corrected. If this letter vav does not have a break in it the whole Torah is pasul. This breaks creates a yood and a vav from the same letter vav. The word Shalom means peace. Without the vav it is shalem which means complete. With both the yood and vav it translates as "His Sea" - ??? ??. In my opinion we must realize that this is referring to the Sea of Pinchas - Pinchas who reincarnated with Nadav and Avihu and eventually became Eliahu. I believe "his sea" is a code word for the Holy Temple. It is amazing to me that ALL Cohen Gadolim that served in both Temples are descendant from Pinchas who was not considered a Cohen since he was born before his grandfather Aaron was appointed Cohen Gadol. There is much to learn frrom this discussion and i solicit comments from people about my comments here. Columns: All columns start with a Vav There are 5 full columns and 2 partial columns in the Parasha. The essence of the Parasha of Pinchas is also the essence of the Torah. Let us look at what is included in Pinchas by reviewing the stories. Included in Pinchas: The effect of Pinchas zealous actions towards Cosbi and Zimri, A census of all of the 13 Tribes which reveals the energy of Astrological influence, the daughters of Zelophehad which relates to the Halacha of the Torah, All of the Mitzvoth dealing with Animal Sacrifice , meal offerings, and All of the Holidays such as Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh, Shabbat Rosh Chodesh , Pesach, Shavuot, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, and also the continuity of Moshe within the frame of the Jewish Nation and Land. All of this energy is to provide you protection during the 3 weeks. Please listen to the Reading carefully with stops by the reader at the 5 unusual items mentioned above. As promised, this year i will give some insights into the Haftarot. The Haftara is describing the effect of Eliahu's testing the false prophets without specific instrructions from Hashem. It also includes the essence of Torah which is Certainty. Of course there is many other essences of Torah. The mekubalim teach that the essence of Pinchas is the energy of healing. Most people take this word and run with the idea that healing is dealing with physical illness. They are limiting themselves. This healing essence includes spiritual healing as well. It also includes the concept of "the End of End". This is the beginning of the way back to the Endless World. It starts with the emotion of Zealousness. Are you a Zealous person? How can you learn Zealousness? The Haftara story is actually describing a meditative experience that Eliyahu had with the creator? Do you want a meditative personal experience with the Creator? Are you willing to try to achieve it? Please learn that the rituals suggested by the Kabbalists are for our benefit and to ignore them is done at your own peril! Please begin your study of Kabbalah with a reading of the Zohar of Pinchas. You will have your mind blown by a description of Good and Bad cholesterol, written in the Zohar over 1000 years ago. Everything you need in your life can be learned by studying Zohar. All of the Universities are teaching you to live in this physical world. Come learn to live in both the physical world and the spiritual world simultaneously. Another reason to begin your study of Kabbalah with the Zohar of Pinchas is the teaching by the Sages that when we read about a particular Holiday or ritual in the Torah we are receiving that specific energy again. This means each time we read about a Holiday we receive the energy of that holiday as if the holiday is happening at that moment. Do you need to have the energy of freedom right now. That is Pesach. Read it again to receive it. The Parasha of Pinchas has all of the Holidays described within it. Shabbat and Shabbat Rosh Chodesh along with Rosh Chodesh is mentioned. The sages are teaching that by reading these paragraph's we connect to each of these energies an additional time during the year. Who does not need the energy of Shabbat more often than once a week? All it takes is reading a few verses from Pinchas to acheive a manifestation of an additional Shabbat in your life. Do you know where to read within Pinchas? Shabbat Shalom chanoch P. S.
